The rumors are true! Baldur’s Gate 3 is confirmed and coming. Larian, the Belgian studio that brought us the Divinity series, is developing Baldur’s Gate 3, the first sequel to the game after 19 years. The game is confirmed to be a sequel to Baldur’s Gate 2: Shadows of Amn and the game is made for PC primarily, but the fans are eager to know more.
In this perhaps the biggest reveal of this year and the happiest moment in gaming history since the new millennium, Larian ambitiously announced that Baldur’s Gate 3 will expand the RPG genre boundaries. They promise us a story unique for each companion, memorable combat, and everything else they’ve managed with their Divinity: Original Sin 1 & 2 installations, plus they also bring solo or multiplayer modes for adventures.
Larian obviously deserved the honor. Not that there aren’t other good studios out there that could do this right, but Larian is here since 1996. They’ve been into making and expanding games in the RPG genre for over two decades now. They are from the old school era and they’ve been doing it right. After their latest success which is Divinity: Original Sin 2, they’ve definitely sealed the deal as far as the fans are concerned.
Online sources are already calling Larian’s Baldur’s Gate 3 the biggest project done by the studio as if to say what we are all thinking – “please, spare no expense and do this right’. We hope we are allowed in this rare opportunity to speak for all when we say – please make the story epic, gameplay that will make us forget we have lives, wrap it up in a beautiful graphics set, and make it last long to infinity. All of us, the fans of Baldur’s Gate series, have been stricken and delighted by this announcement, but now the waiting begins.
