Blade Reborn: Brutalizer Basics
Brutalizer really lives up to his name. If charging headlong into enemies with two-handed sword and dual battleaxes is your thing, this is definitely the class for you! When he is wielding a two-handed sword, brutalizer will have a solid reach and, with certain Talents, it is possible to extend it even further making it an optimal weapon for clearing mobs. Greatsword ultimate (Greatsword Rage) is great because it is possible to move and deal damage while this skill is active, making it very easy to use. The downside is that this skill deals less damage than the axe ultimate (Battle Fury).
Dual battleaxes, on the other hand, deal slightly more damage at the cost of smaller AoE, and because of that are generally more suitable for single targets (like Bosses and other players). The axes ultimate (Battle Fury) fits well into this close range theme - it has huge damage potential, but it isn’t possible to move while skill is active. That coupled with a short reach of the axes makes this skill optimal only vs parry broken opponents. When I started playing Blade Reborn brutalizer was my first choice, just because I’m really digging this huge warrior, hit’em hard playstyle. However, the Brutalizer has one glaring weakness and that is his reach. Both assassin and magic bow elven have much longer reach and this can be somewhat problematic when playing this class, especially in massive PvP battles. Don’t shun away from the Brutalizer just because of that, I didn’t. Brutalizer deals more damage than the other classes to balance out his limited range, and he can absolutely destroy enemies whose parry has been broken. Slamming the axe right in the face of your enemy is very satisfying in some way and this guy is the best at it…
Sword Skills - deal Fire damage:
Brutalizer will jump high in the air and swing his sword downwards hitting any enemies within 10m and also launching them in the air, thus making them unable to act for a few seconds. This skill is great for both PvP and PvE because of a very good reach and solid damage for a Tier 1 skill. It can be used to stay out of range of bosses and players and hit them from afar, while at the same time avoiding their attacks. In short, this is the most (and probably the only) “cheese” skill that the Brutalizer has.
Brutalizer will enlarge his sword when you activate the Greatsword Cut skill. Well, this sounds really funny and strange at the same time but, aside from that, this is actually a very useful Talent that will increase the reach of this already long-reaching skill even further. It is also amusing to suddenly hit unsuspecting enemies with an oversized sword, so I would rate this Talent as Medium-High Priority - and extremely fun to use.
Greatsword Cut cooldown will decrease by 2 seconds. Having a shorter cooldown is always nice, and this is a useful skill that can really shine in some situations, but the damage is lower than other Brutalizer skills. Medium Priority.
Brutalizer will dash forward and swing his sword, dealing damage and knocking down enemies in his path. This skill has a small AoE, and because of that is ok-ish for taking out groups of enemies, but the damage is lower than any other Brutalizer skill. It does, however, have application as a chase down/escape skill, and can be used to avoid AoE attacks of some Bosses. It can also target an empty space and can be used to jump over some obstacles (in Honor Canyon for example). Overall a nice utility skill, but definitely not damage dealing one.
The range of a Greatsword Slam will increase by 20%. Not overly important, 20% is not that much but can be useful in some situations. Medium Priority Talent (more useful in PvP than in PvE).
Increases the damage of Greatsword Slam by 10%. As I already said, this skill deals the lowest damage out of all Brutalizer skills, an additional 10% won’t help at all, because of that, this is definitely a Low Priority Talent.
Brutalizer will fire multiple disc-shaped projectiles from his greatsword, dealing damage to all enemies in a straight line. This is the only ranged skill that the Brutalizer has, and it is an absolute beast for clearing mobs. It is not that great vs bosses/players because of the fact that your character can’t move while this skill is active (for 3-4 seconds) and during that time they can move out of the range or close the distance and hit the Brutalizer with one of their own skills, possibly interrupting your Fury. Nevertheless, this skill has a very high damage potential and should be used quite often, especially vs parry broken bosses/players because they will be constantly staggered and unable to move or attack.
Every time Greatsword’s Fury hits, the target will lose 1 point from the parry break pool. This sounds much better than it is in reality - 1 point is not that much at all. However, every little bit helps, and the sooner you break opponents parry the sooner you’ll be able to unleash your most devastating skills. Medium priority.
Greatsword Fury damage will increase by 10%. This skill already deals a lot of damage and 10% more is a significant increase. Medium - High Priority Talent.
Brutalizer will spin around dealing damage to all enemies within 6m. It is possible to move while spinning, and because of that, it is easier to hit with this ultimate than with the Battle Fury (axe Ultimate). On the other hand, Greatsword Rage will deal ~15% less damage. Because of that, Battle Fury is a more optimal choice. Greatsword Rage should be used in situations when the enemy is not close to having his parry break value depleted and your Rage meter is full, or in PvP where other players will often try to run away once you start casting your ultimate. All in all, a great skill that is easier to use than the Axe Ultimate.
Your weapon will increase in size, granting you a longer range. Not a bad Talent to have, having more range means it will be even harder for players to run away, and that you can hit more of them at the same time. In PvE, this talent won’t be as useful. Medium - High Priority.
Brutalizer will become immune to all slow effects while Greatsword Rage is active. Great Talent for PvP if you plan to rely on Greatsword Ultimate, but I would rather go for parry break + Battle Fury. Anyway, if you chose to go primarily with Greatsword, this talent should have High Priority.
Axe Skills - deal Earth damage:
Brutalizer will slash with both of his axes, dealing damage to all enemies within a 5m radius in a 180-degree arc. This skill is great for clearing out large groups of minions, and because of that, extremely useful in PvE. It is, most likely, the highest damage dealing out of all Tier 1 skills.
Strangely, this Talent and the skill have the same name… Anyway, after activating it your Brutalizer will hit anything in a 360 Degree Arc when using the Full Moon Cut (skill) - which makes it even better at clearing mobs. Not bad at all, Medium Priority Talent (maybe even High).
This talent will increase the damage by an additional 10%. The damage of the skill is solid, so a 10% increase is OK. Medium Priority Talent.
Brutalizer will dash toward the target, dealing a large amount of damage and knocking down minions. Very good single target damage (especially for a skill of this Tier) and also very good speed when dashing makes this skill a great choice for running through the Dungeon in order to reach the Boss as soon as possible. This will be your main skill for escaping and chasing down players in PvP, and it is also possible to avoid some of the boss AoE skills with it. Overall, a very useful skill.
After activating the Slam you’ll gain 30% movement speed buff for 3 seconds. It will increase the Brutalizer’s mobility even further (and he really needs that), so I would say that this is a very good, High Priority Talent. If you plan on just using the Auto-Combat option (which I don’t recommend) you might as well skip it.
Your charge distance will be increased by 10%. Same as with the Deftness, more mobility is great, but only if you’re not using Full Auto combat. However, 10% charge distance is not that much at all. Because of that, this is a Medium Priority Talent.
Brutalizer will jump up and strike enemies 5 times for a huge amount of damage, knocking them down on the last strike (will also knock down players if their parry has been broken). It is very important to point out that you can manually direct where your character will jump, making it possible to move around while dealing damage at the same time. Another selling point of this skill is a huge amount of damage that it deals - way more than any other Brutalizer skill, excluding the Ultimates. One combo that I find very effective is hitting the Boss/player with this skill as soon as you deplete their parry break bar, and then hitting them with the Battle Fury. This will deal enormous amounts of damage, and more often than not your target won’t survive the combo.
Jump Strike damage will increase by 10%. Great Talent, this skill already deals enormous amounts of damage, so 10% is a very significant increase. Definitely a Very High Priority Talent.
Skill cooldown will be reduced by 2 seconds. Very good talent, the sooner you can activate your most damaging skill, the better. High Priority Talent.
Brutalizer will stand in place swinging both of his axes for a few seconds and dealing damage to any enemy up to 6m in front of him. Amazing skill, it probably deals the highest amount of damage out of all skills in Blade Reborn. The only drawback is that it doesn’t have a huge reach, and you’re locked in place while it’s active, so it’s possible to miss your target. The solution for this would be to use your Battle Fury only vs enemies whose parry brake value has been depleted. That way they will be constantly staggered and unable to get out of your range. All in all, Battle Fury is great and I love it, but if you can’t reliably hit with it, you’re probably better off using a Greatsword Rage. With all that said, this skill should be your primary Boss killer.
Even better than Giant’s Grasp, the Brutalizer and his weapons will both grow in size, thus gaining more range. Very cool looking and unusual Talent, for a few seconds you’ll become a giant that wields huge axes. From a functional side, this is somewhat useful, as more range is always nice, especially on the Ultimate skill. High Priority Talent.
This talent will increase the damage of Battle Fury by 10%. Awesome, you have the highest damage dealing skill in the game, and with Tier II talent it is possible to increase the damage even more. Should I say anything else? Very High Priority Talent, no doubt about it.
