Command & Conquer: Rivals Got a Release Date

0

Command & Conquer is a real-time strategy with a long tradition that expands over the course of more than 20 years. Started off by Westwood Studios in 1995, and then took over by EA Los Angeles in 2003, this is one of the first games of its genre out there that created quite a boom.

So, when the news about the franchise going to iOS and Android devices, that made happy a lot of fans of the series. Command & Conquer: Rivals was announced in June this year as the new title developed by EA Redwood Studios. And now, we even have a date when to expect this game ready to launch on our devices – December 4.

This is a highly competitive franchise so no doubt that new game will be as well, which was something they confirmed in their press release, by calling it “competitive to its very core.” The idea for Command & Conquer: Rivals to turn into an official franchise that will redefine gaming pro scene at tournaments and championships. EA even created a feature that allows you to control all your units at all times and forgo drop-and-watch mechanics that all other games use, like Clash of Clans for example.

Since the game already had a soft launch on Android in June, the feedback has been positive although many consider that EA destroyed the Westwood Studios’ legacy. However, when Westwood was closed in 2003 by EA who acquisition it in 1998, its employees were transferred to EA Los Angeles where they continued to work on the series.

Currently, EA is looking to reboot the franchise for PC as well, although there aren’t any specifics on that yet. But the positive ratings on the Command & Conquer: Rivals could win over younger and new audience that will encourage the full reboot of the series in the future. It certainly seems like that is something EA is trying to do by starting it off with a mobile edition first.

Pre-registration is still available on the official website and you can earn some nice goodies before the launch on December 4. The title will be free-to-play although what kind of microtransaction mechanics it will use, we will have to wait and see in after game’s official release worldwide.
