Lock n’ load: The Division 2 will be getting an open beta after all! And now, for the long version.
Most of those who tried Tom Clancy’s The Division, Massive Entertainment’s best selling open-world action RPG had been aching to play the sequel as soon as possible. Initially, that wish had come true to those players who smartly decided to pre-order the game, or were just really lucky to secure their seat on the early The Division 2 binge by timely signing-in at the official site of the game. Whatever their method might be, both groups had the privilege to participate in The Division 2 private beta which started last Thursday and lasted throughout this weekend.
However, it now seems that the rest of the world will have the chance to have the early taste of The Division as well in open beta, no less. Interestingly enough, we found all about it, not through some official statement, but thanks to Reddit user TiniestBuckle who was one of the participants in the private beta. In short, the said Reddit user had managed to catch this vital piece of info in a clip he posted on Reddit on February 10, which shows one of the developers who was explicitly commenting about some game issue, stating “we’re going to fix that for the open beta”. Of course, we normally wouldn’t pay too much attention to the prattling of some random guy. However, this was none other than Yannick Banchereau, the live content manager of Massive Entertainment, so we presumed that he knows what he’s talking about.
Now, since at the time this info hasn’t been officially confirmed by guys from Massive Entertainment or Ubisoft, we were all initially afraid that we jumped to the conclusion and simply misinterpreted the whole affair. However, all your doubts will be dispelled if you check out the official site of The Division where it clearly says:
”Agent, play the open beta from March 1st to 4th. The private beta was just the beginning. Last chance to play before the launch.”
The Division 2 Open Beta Announcement thread on their forum also has something to say about it:
We are happy to announce that the Open Beta for Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 will be running from March 1st through March 4th! More information is coming soon, but for the latest news about the Open Beta, please visit our Beta page.
Huge thanks to everyone that took part in the Private Beta. We are grateful for all the feedback, all the bug reports and all the suggestions that you gave us over the course of those days (and after!).
Thank you and see you all again soon in Washington, D.C.!
