Three. Two. One. Go! It’s time to show off your skills in the Fortnite In-Game Tournaments which are already available with update 6.10. Go to the “Events” section in Fortnite Battle Royale in order to participate.
The feature is open to everyone and is a unique opportunity for players to compete with the pro’s and get their piece of glory. And don’t worry, prizes are there as well waiting for you to join in. In order to participate in these competitive events, players have to opt-in for crossplay so bear that in mind too.
Each tournament consists of a series of scheduled dates and times when the competitions will happen. Every scheduled event starts as a clean slate for each player, meaning that all participants will start with the same score and compete in order to win as many points as possible. To earn these points, players can reach high placements or eliminate their opponents.
When it comes to matchmaking during the tournament, players with similar point standings will be paired up. This means that you will get a stronger opponent if you play well during the scheduled session. Additionally, tournaments will have target score that you have to strive to. If you reach it, you will receive a shiny pin and in the future, this reward may help you advance to the next round. Or qualify you for certain prizes.
All players will be equal regardless of if they play on PC, console or mobile device. This will allow Epic Games to “place a single shining spotlight onto the world’s best players”, but also to increase the prize pools and expose more players to the Fortnite events.
The schedule for tournaments is as follows:
- Alpha Tournament (Solo): October 16 – October 21 – currently happening!
- Beta Tournament (Duo): October 23 – October 25 – a great occasion for you and your friend to show off and win some prizes.
- Friday Night Fortnite (Squad): October 19 – November 30 – a great way to start your weekend with friends every Friday.
- Salty Springs Cup (Solo): October 27 – October 31 – you have three attempts to prove yourself worthy.
- Tomato Temple Cup (Duo): October 28 – November 1 – go ahead and become a legend.
The tournaments are happening in North America, EU, Asia, and OCE regions, but times will vary depending on where you are located so pay attention to that as well.
Epic Games is also currently working on developing tournament feature further so it would allow events across multiple rounds. This means that players will have to earn pins if they want to qualify for the next round. The company is also working on creating tournaments for players of all talent levels that will have new scoring and support for additional modes.
At the end of this year, all eligible players will be able to qualify for the 2019 Fortnite World Cup via “Showdown Royale” event hosted by this very in-game tournament feature.
And since Fortnite became recently available for Android devices, this will be a true opportunity for new players to experience the magic of this highly popular game. And some may become really good at the game thanks to the dates available through November 30.
