Managerial type games usually revolve around the unforgiving world of business, where cold-hard cash is the answer to every question and everyone could be working harder than they already are. Putting you in the shoes of a manager at a company of some sort, whether it’s a restaurant, hotel, amusement park or football club, you’re supposed to make tough, calculated decisions and come out on top in the fast-paced corporate world.
Doing away with ALL of that and introducing laughs, hugs, and smiles, yet still remaining a management type game, is Furistas Cat Cafe. In it, you’re running a café that’s looking to adopt plenty of cats, the first of which is named Bon-Chan and allows customers to come in and pet the cats, to the mutual satisfaction of everyone involved. So, you say, it’s kind of like a cat brothel? Hey! That’s disturbing. Please don’t carry thoughts like that when you come into Furistas Cat Cafe, the love here is exclusively platonic!
The customers are vying for some adorable little furball’s attention, and you’re supposed to find the purrfect (I’m sorry) match for them. Some customers are looking for higher level cats (that exists? I don’t know, I guess they pet better), whereas others are content with whichever one they can get their hands on. Successfully matching kittens with customers nets you hearts, which open up gift baskets once you’ve collected a sufficient number. Inside the baskets are fish, bell balls, sporty collars, and various other goodies you can use to upgrade your cats.
Completing various duties around the café (sometimes the cats walk around with dirty paws, the rascals!) nets tokens which you can then use to buy furniture and wallpapers to improve the coziness of the place. The game plays smoothly and is very cute, especially if you’re a cat lover. It’s obviously marketed at either a younger or probably female audience, but nonetheless, anyone can have fun with this game, as the managerial aspects are still relatively demanding and require you to be present and mindful.
The art looks like the western idea of an anime, with huge eyes on the cats and people, and a warm and cartoony atmosphere, supplemented by the relaxed, ambient music that plays in the background. Furistas Cat Cafe will surely put a smile on your face and will offer a light-hearted, fun time managing a rather innovative business, matching cat-lovers with lovely cats. It’s out on Android and iOS, so most mobile phone users will be able to play it..
