A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away… Well, four and a half years was quite a long time (at least in gaming years) considering the initial release date of the game. This turn-based role-playing game is one of the most popular Star Wars mobile games ever. Its dynamic combat system, hero progression, and tons of available content will easily keep the players hooked to their mobile devices.
Development and Reception
Developed by Capital Games, and published by Electronic Arts…
Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes was initially released as a soft launch in Australia in October 2015. The game’s official release was on November 24th, 2015. The game was developed by Capital Games, and published by Electronic Arts. Ever since it was released, SWGoH was downloaded more than 10 million times on Google Play alone, where it currently sits at 4.3 out of 5 stars rating with over 1.6 million user reviews. On the iTunes App Store, the game currently has 4.7 out of 5 stars rating with around 800 user scores.

Many of the abilities are quite a faithful representation of the source material…
In its core gameplay, it is a turn-based, tactical role-playing game. It also heavily features hero collecting elements present in many other similar games, so in a sense, it can be classified as a Gacha. While playing, you will be able to collect shards for many iconic Star Wars characters. Once you collect enough shards for any specific character, you can use them to unlock that one. There are various methods for obtaining shards for each specific character, and some are more difficult than others. Also, after unlocking any of them, you can still collect shards in order to increase the star rank for that specific character. This will increase the combat stats and make that char more powerful in general.
During battles, you can control up to five different characters. Each one has a basic ability that can be used at any given turn, and a special ability that has a cooldown. Other than that, some heroes can have more than one special ability, and some of them have passive and leader abilities as well. Before the battle, you can assign one of your characters to be a leader. This will enable the leader ability of that hero, and it will grant your other team members some passive bonuses. Other than that, each character belongs to at least one of the factions (for example Rebels, Jedi, Galactic Republic, Empire, etc). Many of them provide various bonuses for other members of the same faction, which opens up a lot of synergies and options when building a team.
It’s worth mentioning that many of the abilities are quite a faithful representation of the source material. For example, Han Solo has a unique ability called “Shoots First” which allows him to take a bonus turn at the start of each battle before any other character can act.
Other than characters, you can also collect various ships while playing. Some of the iconic ships from the Star Wars universe can be collected, such as Millenium Falcon, Resistance X-Wing, Imperial TIE Fighter, and many others. These ships can be used in some aspects of the game, so collecting and upgrading them will allow you to acquire some unique rewards.
SWGoH features plenty of content for players to take part in. There are Light and Dark Side Battles, which are primarily used to farm shards and gear for certain characters. Cantina Battles allow you to collect ability mats, which are used to upgrade ability levels. Those that are interested in some PvP action can participate in Squad Arena, where they can test their teams against other players and earn some nice rewards while doing so. Other than that, players who are members of a guild can participate in Raids, Territory Battles and Territory Wars alongside their guildmates. Raids and Territory Battles are PvE focused guild activities, while in Territory Wars, two guilds will fight one another over the course of several days.
There are many other interesting gameplay aspects in the game, and it’s evident that the developers tried their best to make a lot of content for players over the past four and a half years.

If you are a Star Wars fan, you’ll feel right at home with this one…
The developers definitely nailed it when it comes to the atmosphere. If you are a Star Wars fan, you’ll feel right at home with this one. Pretty much all of the iconic characters from movies, tv shows, and some other video games are present in this one. Do you like the Old Republic? Worry not for you can add Darth Revan, Darth Malak, Bastila Shan, and many others to your roster. Do you prefer the original film trilogy? Well, good news for you, all of the important characters from the original trilogy are also present in the game. The same goes for characters from the prequels, the sequel trilogy, Clone Wars, and many others. And you can mix and match these characters in a team worthy of legends. This exactly is one of the main reasons why SWGoH is so popular among Star Wars fans.
The music and sound effects are also fitting very well in the entire setting. These will subtly increase the overall atmosphere of the game, and significantly add up to each of the battles. All in all, if not for the great atmosphere and Star Wars feel, Galaxy of Heroes wouldn’t be around for nearly four and a half years.

When it comes to visuals, this game surely delivers…
When it comes to visuals, Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes surely delivers. The game features models that very faithfully represent the source material. This means that all of the characters in the game look very much like they do in the movies and tv shows, which is another reason why so many Star Wars fans like Galaxy of Heroes. The animations, the abilities, all of it is masterfully replicated in this game. It is evident that the developers wanted the fans to connect with the characters, and what better way to do it than to recreate them just like they were in the source material.

Requirements are fairly low by today’s standards…
When it comes to hardware requirements, SWGoH isn’t too high on the list. For Android users, the minimum requirement is having an Android 4.1 compatible device, while the iOS users need a device capable of running at least iOS 10. These requirements are fairly low by today’s standards, and the game runs remarkably well on most of the supported devices. Granted, the developers had nearly four and a half years to polish and optimize their game, which is another reason why the game runs so smoothly. Still, you may experience some slowdown at times if you are running the game on an older phone, but all in all, this game is pretty well optimized for most of the modern mobile devices.

Free to Play Friendly
Yes, the time you invest in the game will pay off more than anything else…
This is one aspect of the game where many people have different opinions. Is SWGoH free to play friendly? Well, to put it simply, it kinda depends. If you are looking to start the game as a completely new, free to play player, there are some things you should keep in mind. Yes, the game will offer you various packs and bundles that will speed up your progress, so you will have the option to open up your wallet if that is the route you plan to follow. However, the most valuable resource in this game is time. Yes, the time you invest in the game will pay off more than anything else. If you are willing to spend time playing, you will realize that pretty much all of the in-game content is completely available to free to play players. However, when it comes to competitive play, such as PvP, that is where F2P players will be at a disadvantage. Still, the game is monetized in such a way that it prioritizes playing overpaying, so the longer you play, the more characters you will eventually unlock, and it will be easier to progress. All in all, as long as you’re willing to invest your time into SWGoH, you’ll be able to experience all it has to offer without paying a dime.

Every single Star Wars fan will feel right at home…
When all is said and done, SWGoH is quite a decent hero collecting role-playing game. Sure, it’s not perfect, and it has its flaws, but every single Star Wars fan will feel right at home playing this title.

How to get Revan/Darth Revan?
It is possible to unlock Revan from the Old Republic. Both Jedi Knight Revan and Darth Revan can be obtained by completing the Legendary Events. In order to acquire Jedi Knight Revan, you need to have five of the following heroes, each at 7 stars: Bastila Shan, Jolee Bindo, T3-M4, and Zaalbar. Once you have these, you will be able to obtain Jedi Knight Revan by completing Legend of the Old Republic Event. This will unlock him at 7 stars.
To unlock Darth Revan, you’ll first need to obtain the following heroes, each at 7 stars: Bastila Shan (Fallen), Canderous Ordo, Carth Onasi, HK-47, and Juhani. Once you do that, you will be able to complete the Scourge of the Old Republic Event and acquire Darth Revan at 7 stars.
How to level up fast?
In order to level up fast in SWGoH, you’ll need to maximize your experience points gained. One of the best ways to do it is to complete all of your daily activities each day. Each task you complete will award you a nice amount of experience points, and this will speed up your progress. Also, try not to let any of your energy go to waste. Schedule your play time to match your energy recharges, and this will optimize your energy usage, and you won’t be overcapping your energy bar. In short, play actively, and always complete all of the daily activities, and you’ll level up in no time.
How to restart?
If you want to restart your Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes and start from scratch, here’s how to do it. If you are an Android user, all you have to do is to exit the game and sign in to a different Google account. This will completely reset the game, and you’ll be able to start anew. If you are an iOS user, you need to sign out of the Game Center, and after that, simply sign in to a new Game Center. This will restart your game.
How to promote?
Yes, you can promote heroes in the game. In other words, this will increase their number of stars, and grant them additional stat bonuses. To do that, you need to obtain a number of shards for that hero. This number will vary, depending on the number of stars your hero currently has. Once you obtain enough shards to promote, you will need to pay some credits (also dependent on the current number of stars), and this will increase the number of stars of your hero by one. It is worth mentioning that you can promote your characters regardless of their level, and it doesn’t really matter if you promote them before or after leveling them up.
How to change your name?
In order to change your age, you need to click on a pencil icon near your current name. This will allow you to enter a new name. Bear in mind that you can change your name for free once. For any subsequent name changes, you’ll need to pay crystals. Also, if you are playing an age-restricted account, you won’t be able to change a name unless you restart your account and go through the tutorial again. Once you finish the tutorial, you will be prompted to enter your age. As long as your age is over 18, you should be able to change your name.
How to unlock characters?
Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes features plenty of different characters from the Star Wars universe. In order to unlock any of these, you need to collect shards for them. Depending on the character in question, these shards can be acquired in many different ways. Some of them are awarded from Light Side, Dark Side, Cantina, or Fleet Battles. Some other characters are available from Fleet Arena, Squad Arena, or Guild Event Stores. Also, some of the characters are only available by completing Legendary Events. Basically, playing pretty much any in-game content is in some way related to obtaining shards for certain characters.
How to beat Rebel Training?
Rebel Training has given a headache to many players of the game, especially Tier 3 training. Here is one effective method to complete it. You will notice from the beginning that your team possesses a lot of stuns. Han Solo, Commander Luke Skywalker, and R2-D2 are all capable of stunning enemies. The two biggest threats in the enemy team are Thrawn and Emperor Palpatine. Try your best to keep them stunned and slowly take them down. The third target to stun should be Darth Vader. Also, whenever you get unlucky and your stuns don’t trigger on enemies, be sure to use Obi-Wan Kenobi’s Mind Tricks to weaken the enemy team. Lastly, use R2-D2’s Smoke Screen to stealth everyone except for Obi-Wan when the Stormtroopers use their taunts. Bear in mind that this is not the exact way of completing the Rebel Training Tier 3, but some general guidelines you should follow. You’ll need some luck and RNG on your side, but after trying for a while, you should be able to complete it.1 2
