Godzilla Defense Force Review

On May 22nd 2019, Godzilla Defense Force got its global release and players got the chance to defend famous cities from all around the world against gigantic monstrous Kaijus. In essence, this game is stand-alone base management featuring Godzilla Official IP. This means that the monsters from all the movies since 1954 are present in the game and you’ll get to defend many of the cities around the globe from their attacks.

The game was published by NEXON Company, a famous Korean video game publisher, widely known for titles such as Rocket Arena, Maple Story, Durango: Wild Lands, Axe: Alliance vs Empire, Marvel Battle Lines, and many other popular video games. In just three days, Godzilla Defense force got over 50,000 installs on Google Play and holds an astounding 4.5 score with over 7,000 votes!

In the game, you’ll assume the role of a military commander in charge of defending major cities around the globe against the monsters’ attacks. You do that by building different defensive bases and upgrading them. These bases will produce various combat units that will head to the defense lines to protect the city from Kaijus. Each of these units has several different combat stats, including damage, attack speed, and so on. Also, every building will produce these units at a certain rate, which can be improved by tapping on the screen. The faster you tap, the faster will the units be produced. This way, the player is constantly engaged in every battle and having “quick fingers” can literally save cities here.

There is a certain number of stages tied to each of the cities. During these stages, players will defend against various monsters attacks, and after completing several of those, the Boss will appear. This monstrous Kaiju is set on destroying the city, and facing it will pose a significant challenge. First of all, each time you battle a Boss, you have a set amount of time to defeat it. If you fail, you’ll have to try again. Luckily, there are a few things that could make it easier for you to defeat these dreadful creatures. First, you’ll be able to collect various Skill Cards throughout the game. You can use these cards in battle to boost your armies with some special bonuses that could turn the tide in your favor. However, to balance things out, you can only equip up to three of these cards, and using them requires a special resource called G-Cells. You start the game with 4 of these Cells, and you can increase this number by leveling up. Upon spending the G-Cells, they’ll slowly start regenerating, so you’ll have to wait a certain amount of time before being able to use the Skill Cards again. It is also worth noting that some of the most powerful cards cost several of these G-Cells, which means you won’t be able to use them too often.

The atmosphere in this game is simply amazing! You’re constantly on your toes, defending against waves and waves of relentless monsters, eagerly awaiting the Boss Stage and making sure that your defenses are strong enough to deal with it. The developers perfectly managed to capture this thrill of anticipating which Kaiju will attack next, and this exactly is what’s making the game so exciting to play.

Overall, the game is immensely fun and engaging and it’s no wonder that gamers all around the world are praising it so much. Definitely worth checking out, especially if you are a fan of Godzilla!
