The Gift of Gratitude Part 1

Hello everyone, welcome to Part 1 of our Walkthrough for The Gift of Gratitude Adventure for Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. Students of Year 3 and above can take part in this adventure. During it, you will get the opportunity to decorate the Great Hall, run deliveries for Zonko’s, and recreate a seasonal treat. Once you start, you will have 3 days and 21 hours to complete the adventure and earn a special reward. Shortly after starting, Professor Snape will ask Charlie and you to meet with him in the Clocktower Courtyard, so proceed there when you are ready.
[Disclaimer: This walkthrough will feature the gameplay from the perspective of a Year 6 student. Since the adventure is available for students of Year 3 and above, the star and attribute requirements for certain tasks might be different for you, depending on the year you’re in.]

When you arrive, you will notice the speech bubbles above some of the students. Tap on those if you are interested to see what they have to say.

You will be curious to know why Professor Snape wanted to see the two of you.

He will quickly get to the point and ask if you’ll be staying at Hogwarts or going home for the Christmas holidays.

You will find Snape’s question odd, to say the least.

He will point out it’s extremely rude to question your professors.

Moments later, you will get to speak with Professor Snape about your Christmas holiday plans.

This requires earning five stars within an hour. Only one star is needed to pass.

If you are looking to save as much energy as possible, it is recommended to earn a single star and wait for the timer to run out. It’s also worth noting there’s a 5-cost action linked to your character.

You will inform the Professor that you’ll be staying at Hogwarts during Christmas.

You’ll ask Snape if he’ll be taking care of the castle during the holidays.

As it seems, that is indeed the case, which is why he is making the list of all the students who will stay at Hogwarts.

Charlie will happily say he’s planning to spend the Christmas holiday at home with his family.

Professor Snape will remind him not to linger for too long, lest he might miss his train.

Charlie will nod his head.

Shortly after, the Professor will leave the courtyard.

Once he’s gone, Charlie will point out that Snape’s been exceptionally moody.

He’ll ask if you think he was colder than usual. There are two reply options to choose from. Other than some minor dialogue differences, this choice won’t have any major impact on the story, so feel free to pick either option.

Charlie will point out it is rather unfortunate that you won’t be able to have much fun with Snape around. You will admit you haven’t given it much thought, and you’ll feel slightly sad about it.

The following lines will differ, based on whether you completed A Very Weasley Christmas adventure or not.

Shortly after, Hagrid will arrive, looking for you.

He will immediately notice that you don’t look very cheerful.

You’ll tell him about your recent conversation with Professor Snape.

Hagrid will point out there are lots of reasons to be happy about the holidays.

He will smile and say he would appreciate it if you’d help him spread some holiday cheer.

You’ll be interested to hear more about it.

Hagrid will ask you to follow him to the Great Hall, so go there when you are ready.

Once you arrive, you will notice the speech bubbles above some of your friends.

You will notice that Hagrid has some boxes full of decorations placed on the table.

He will cheerfully say he needs your help with decorating the Great Hall.

Charlie will be unsure if he’s up to the task.

According to Hagrid, both of you are more than capable of helping him decorate the Great Hall.

You will quickly decide to make yourself useful.

Hagrid will tell you he’ll do the heavy lifting while Charlie and you decorate the Great Hall.

This requires earning five stars within eight hours. All five stars are needed to pass.

There are 5-cost actions linked to Hagrid, the Christmas tree, and some of the decorations on the table. Prioritizing these actions should make the task slightly easier to complete.

Once you are done, you will take a look around and realize that the Great Hall looks incredibly festive.

Hagrid will commend you for the job well done.

You will point out there is still one last piece of decoration to be placed.

In any case, you will be very glad that you decided to help Hagrid with decorating the Great Hall.

Professor Snape will inform you that you’ll be taking down the decorations once the holidays are over.

Hagrid will try to cheer him up.

Eventually, Professor Snape will admit that the Great Hall looks quite charming.

He will ask if the decorations are important to you. There are three options to reply with. While this choice won’t have any huge impact on the story, Snape will react best if you choose the second option.

In any case, the Professor will ask you to clear the boxes and ladders once you’re done.

Hagrid will happily say that everything will be sorted out as soon as Charlie is done decorating the tree.

Your Gryffindor friend will say he’s almost done.

He’ll try stretching out his arms to place the topper on the Christmas tree.

Suddenly, he will lose his balance and fall down from the ladder.

You will quickly ask if he’s all right.

While he’ll say he’s fine, you will notice the painful expression on his face.

Professor Snape will immediately ask you to help him get Charlie to the Hospital Wing.

Proceed there when you are ready.

Once you help Charlie lay down, you will ask if he’s feeling okay.

Other than feeling a bit dizzy, he’ll say he’s all right.

However, Professor Snape will tell him to stay in the bed until he recovers.

Your friend will be worried about being able to make it back home for Christmas.

According to Snape, that option is out of the picture. After all, he won’t allow Charlie to risk his health, which is the right thing to do.

Still, your Weasley friend will be very determined to spend Christmas with his family.

He will turn to you and ask if you think that the Professor is overreacting. There are two options to choose from. Both choices will lead to a similar outcome, so feel free to take your pick.

Either way, Charlie will be upset about having to stay in bed for a while.

You will kindly point out that his family will understand why he cannot make it back home for Christmas.

He will admit there’s another reason why he can’t stay in bed.

You’ll ask him to tell you more about it.

Talking to Charlie requires earning five stars within an hour. Three stars are needed to pass.

The only 5-cost action here is linked to your character. Focus on it whenever it is available if you want to save a bit of energy.

Charlie will say that he has a debt to repay at Zonko’s, which is why he’s worried about staying in bed.

He planned to pay it back before heading home for the holidays, but unfortunately, he won’t be able to do it if he has to stay in bed.

He will admit he’s afraid that Bilton might permanently ban him from the shop.

According to Snape, that’s the least of his worries.

Once again, Charlie will try to persuade the Professor to let him leave the Hospital Wing.

Unfortunately (or rather, fortunately), Snape won’t be willing to change his mind.

He will decide to leave and notify the Weasleys about their son’s injury.

Charlie will feel really sad about not being able to do anything.

You will offer to help him fulfill his promise to Bilton.

Your friend will be surprised by that.

You will smile and say that doing it would be your Christmas gift to him.

This will instantly put a smile on Charlie’s face.

After all, you wouldn’t be much of a friend if you wouldn’t be willing to help him.

Charlie will make a joke about Professor Snape.

You’ll ask him about his debt.

He’ll simply tell you to go to Zonko’s and explain everything to Bilton.

You will have to wait two hours before you can do that. Since you are likely low on energy at this point, it is recommended to wait and let your energy recharge in the meantime.

Head to Zonko’s Joke Shop once the waiting time is over.

Upon arriving, you will spot some familiar faces. Tap on the speech bubbles above them if you are interested to see what they have to say.

Bilton will happily greet you once he sees you approaching.

As it seems, he’s been having a lot of customers lately.

You’ll smile and say that you’ve arrived just in time.

This will slightly confuse Bilton, and he’ll ask if there’s anything specific you’re looking for.

You will quickly get to the point.

As it seems, Charlie’s accident certainly caused a lot of trouble for Bilton.

You’ll inform him about Charlie’s current situation and ask if it’s possible for you to repay his debt.

Bilton will be unsure if he should let you work off Charlie’s debt. There are three options to try and convince him. Each of those will lead to a similar outcome, so feel free to pick whichever one you prefer.

Eventually, Bilton will agree to tell you more.

He’ll then inform you about the errands you’ll need to run for him.

Talking to Bilton requires earning five stars within three hours. All five stars are needed to pass, which is why it’s recommended not to start this task if you are low on energy.

There is a 5-cost action linked to your character. Prioritize your own actions if you are looking to save some energy.

In the end, Bilton will agree to let you work off Charlie’s debt.

You will thank him for agreeing to your proposition.

He will warn you that working for him won’t be all fun and games.

However, being a ‘helpful elf’ does have its fun side.

You’ll ask him about the first task he has for you.

As it seems, there are some things for you to deliver.

He will suggest making some deliveries around town first.

You will smile and nod.

It looks like you’ll have to be quick if you’re to make all the deliveries in time.
