The Great Hogwarts Cook-Off Part 1

Hello everyone, welcome to Part 1 of our Walkthrough for The Great Hogwarts Cook-Off Adventure of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. This adventure is available for students of Year 5 and above, and it should unlock upon reaching Chapter 19 of Year 5 of the main story. Once you begin the adventure, you will have 3 days and 17 hours to complete it. During it, you will get to help two wizarding world-renowned chefs organize a cooking competition at Hogwarts. Shortly after starting the adventure, you will need to go to the Great Hall to hear Professor Dumbledore’s announcement. Proceed there when you are ready.
[Disclaimer: This walkthrough will feature the gameplay from the perspective of a Year 7 student. Since the adventure is available for students of Year 5 and above, the star and attribute requirements for certain tasks might be different for you, depending on the year you’re in.]

Upon arriving, you will notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you are interested to see what they have to say.

You will ask your friends if they have any clue what the announcement is about.

Jae will admit he has no idea. Still, he would be happy to have some break from making sandwiches in detention.

Penny will assume that the announcement has something to do with the two women standing next to Professor Dumbledore.

She’ll say that they look awfully familiar, but she won’t be able to figure out who they are. She will ask if you have any idea. There are two options to reply with. This choice will have an impact on some of the following dialogue lines, but it won’t change the story, so feel free to pick the option you prefer.

Tulip will say she knows exactly who they are.

However, she’ll decide not to spoil the surprise.

Shortly after, the Headmaster will start the announcement.

He will introduce two of the wizarding world’s most renowned chefs, Mary and Rosa Karasu.

You will immediately assume they are Tulip’s relatives.

Your Ravenclaw friend will tell you they are her Grans.

Your previous choice will take effect here.

Professor Dumbledore will go on and say that The Madams Karasu accepted his invitation to host a cooking competition at Hogwarts.

Each of them will say a few words about the competition.

The Headmaster will encourage the students to sign up.

You’ll notice that some of your classmates are looking excited about the event.

You will also look forward to the cooking competition.

Penny will be curious to know how the rest of your friends feel about it.

You will suggest asking them.

Talking to your friends requires earning five stars within an hour. Three stars are needed to pass.

Be sure to slide the screen left and right to see all the available actions. There are 5-cost actions tied to Tulip and your character. Focus on those if you want to save some energy.

By the looks of it, a lot of your friends will be interested in signing up for the competition.

Tulip will say there’s something she wants to discuss with you in private.

You’ll wonder what she wants to talk to you about.

She’ll say that without you, the cooking competition might not be happening.

She will ask you to meet her in the courtyard.

Proceed there when you are ready.

Upon arriving, you will be able to interact with some of the characters and see what they have to say.

You’ll tell Tulip you had no idea that her Grans are famous wizarding chefs.

She will admit she rarely talks about her family, since most of her relatives are very boring and strict.

However, her Grans are the only ones in her family who always support her.

Unfortunately, Tulip rarely gets to spend some time with them, because of their busy schedules.

You’ll tell her you are all too familiar with that, since you also don’t get to see much of your family. If you’ve completed Year 5, you will get an additional dialogue line here.

You will tell your friend she will finally get the chance to spend some time with her Grans.

She’ll nod and say she really wants to impress them.

She will then decide to introduce you to them.

You will politely greet Tulip’s Grans and truthfully admit that until a while ago, you didn’t know much about them.

Rosa will admire your honesty and say that her granddaughter hasn’t told them anything about you.

Mary will chuckle and say that Rosa was only teasing you. Apparently, they have heard all about your Curse-Breaking adventures.

Both of them will give you a smooch on the cheek.

Rosa will ask Tulip if she already told you the good news.

You will ask your friend about it.

She will say she was just about to tell you that.

As it seems, Tulip will be in charge of organizing the cooking competition.

You will be surprised to hear that, especially since Tulip doesn’t really like responsibility.

She will admit you are right about that. However, she wants to impress her Grans, which is why she accepted the task.

She’ll also say she needs your help organizing the event.

You will smile and admit that you are touched.

The events of some of the previous adventures will be referenced here.

You will happily agree to help Tulip organize the cooking competition.

She will be surprised to hear that. There are three options to reply with. If you like Tulip, it is recommended to pick the second one.

Your friend will be overjoyed to have you helping her organize the event.

You’ll ask her where to start.

She will suggest finding proper contestants for the competition.

Discussing who to recruit requires earning five stars within three hours. Since all five stars are needed to pass, it is recommended not to start this task with an empty energy bar.

There are 5-cost actions tied to Rosa Karasu and your character. Focus on those if you are looking to save as much energy as possible. Also, pay attention to one of Tulip’s lines here about a certain Gryffindor student.

You will sum up the things describing the ideal candidate for the competition.

Mery will point out that not everyone can make a culinary masterpiece.

After considering it for a bit, you will come up with the perfect candidate to approach first.

Tulip will be curious to know who that is.

You will tell her it is none other than Badeea Ali. You will decide to meet with her and see if she wants to compete.

Proceed to the Library when you are ready to meet with Badeea.

Once you arrive, you will notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you are curious to see what they have to say.

Badeea will wonder why you wanted to see her.

You will say that you promised Tulip to find contestants for the Cook-Off.

You’ll also tell her how determined Tulip is to make her Grans proud.

You will admit to Badeea that she is the perfect candidate, and you’ll ask if she considered signing up for the competition.

She’ll say that the Cook-Off sounds like a lot of fun. Unfortunately, she isn’t really known for her culinary skills.

She will wonder why you thought she’d be a perfect candidate. There are two options to reply with. Both options will lead to the same outcome, so feel free to pick either one.

In the end, Badeea will agree to consider signing up.

Still, she would be uncertain what dish to make.

You will offer to discuss some options with her.

To help Badeea decide on a dish, you will need to earn five stars within three hours. All five stars are needed to pass, so avoid starting this task if you are low on energy.

There are 5-cost actions linked to Badeea and your character. Prioritize those if you are looking to save some energy.

Badeea will thank you for helping her make up her mind.

She’ll say she has many delicious family recipes to choose from.

However, out of all those, one particular recipe stands out.

You will be happy to hear that.

Unfortunately, she will admit there is one slight obstacle in the way.

She will need a fish in order to make a fish stew.

She’ll promise to enter the competition, as long as you can help her find a fresh, delicious fish.

You’ll gladly agree to that.

You will figure out Jae might be able to help you find a fish.

Head to the Three Broomsticks when you are ready to meet with Jae.

Once you arrive, you will be able to interact with some of the characters by tapping on the speech bubbles above them.

You will thank Jae for agreeing to help you.

He will be more than happy to help. If you completed Cooking Up Trouble Side Quest, you will get some additional lines of dialogue.

Badeea will say that she wants to enter the cooking competition, and she needs a delicious, fresh fish for her stew.

You will admit you are a bit confused he asked you to meet at the Three Broomsticks.

After all, he spends a lot of time in the kitchens with Pitts, so you assumed he’d be able to find a fish there.

Jae will say that Pitts isn’t too happy about the competition taking place in his kitchens.

Because of that, it is definitely not a good idea to ask him for ingredients.

Luckily, the Three Broomsticks is the place with the best fish and chips in Hogsmeade.

Badeea will wonder if Madam Rosmerta would be willing to give her a fish.

Jae will propose an alternative solution.

Still, you will prefer to ask Madam Rosmerta.

Badeea will agree with you and say she’s not willing to steal, not even for the sake of art.

Moments later, Madam Rosmerta will approach your table. You can choose whether you want to be direct, or use flattery. Both options will lead to a similar outcome, so feel free to pick the one you prefer.

Madam Rosmerta will say she does have some fresh fish in the back.

However, she cannot simply give free fish away to every patron who asks.

Badeea will be slightly sad to hear that.

Jae will assume that a lot of people ask Madam Rosmerta for raw fish.

You will suggest trading her something in exchange for the fish.

Madam Rosmerta will find that acceptable.

Still, she will wonder if you can offer anything useful to her.

You will suggest talking about it.

Bartering with Madam Rosmerta requires earning five stars within three hours. All three stars are needed to pass, which is why it is recommended not to start this task if your energy bar is empty.

There are 5-cost actions linked to Badeea and your character. Focus on those if you want to save a bit of energy.

Upon taking a look around, you will realize that the pub seems very busy.

Jae will ask Madam Rosmerta if she would agree to take an item to tidy the place up in exchange for a fish.

She’ll ask if he has such an item.

Jae will nod and say that he can procure all kinds of rare items.

He’ll reach under the table and take out a box of EaziKleen Self-Propelling Scourers.

Thanks to those, Madam Rosmerta would have a much easier time cleaning the place.

She will admit she could definitely use a box of those Self-Propelling Scourers.

You will ask if it means she’ll agree to trade a fish for those Scourers.

She will nod and say that she will grab a fresh fish for you momentarily.

Badeea will be very happy with this turn of events.

She will say that you have your first official contestant for the Cook-Off.

You’ll suggest heading back to Hogwarts as soon as possible.

You will also need to find another contestant for the competition.

The first one to come to mind will be none other than Diego Caplan.
