[Disclaimer: This walkthrough will feature the gameplay from the perspective of a Year 4 student. Since the adventure is available for students of Year 4 and above, the star and attribute requirements for certain tasks might be different for you, depending on your current progress of the main story.]
Proceed to Flourish and Blotts when you are ready to attend the book signing event. Upon arriving, you’ll notice that the place is crowded. You’ll be able to interact with some of the characters before continuing.
Apparently, it was you, Andre, Barnaby, Merula, Penny, and Talbott who were selected to attend the book signing.
Moments later, Gilderoy Lockhart will enter the book store. He’ll cheerfully greet everyone before the book signing starts.
By the looks of it, he has a special surprise for some of the guests.
Attending a book signing is your next task.
Here are the requirements for it:
Year 4 = 3h – 1/5 stars;
Year 5 and above = 3h – 5/5 stars.
Once again, all of the actions are linked to Gilderoy Lockhart, so you don’t really have much choice here.
Andre will mention an interesting detail about Lockhart.
Barnaby will find the whole book signing event a bit confusing.
Penny will be curious about the surprise Lockhart mentioned earlier. There are three options to choose from. This choice won’t have any major impact on the story, so feel free to pick whichever option you prefer.
Soon enough she’ll get the answer to her question. By the looks of it, Lockhart’s surprise has something to do with you and your friends.
Apparently, you were selected to become his apprentices for a special Valentine’s Day project.
Moments later, the book signing event will come to an end. Molly Weasley will approach to congratulate you.
Merula won’t be too sure if you were lucky for being selected. Shortly after, Mrs. Weasley will leave the store.
Moments later, Lockhart will approach you and your friends. You’ll try to introduce yourself, but he’ll interrupt you mid-sentence. As it appears, he really is full of himself.
He’ll ask you and your friends to follow him to Hogsmeade.
It looks like you’ll be heading to Madam Puddifoot’s Tea Shop, so proceed there when you are ready.
Once you arrive, Lockhart will be interested to hear your opinion on the shop.
If you completed First Date adventure, both you and your date will be sure to mention it (unless you went on a date with Tulip).
It looks like Gilderoy Lockhart is planning to host an interesting event in the tea shop. You can respond to that in three different ways. This choice won’t have any significant influence on the story, so feel free to pick whichever option you prefer.
You’ll find it quite odd that he already knows the names of you and your friends. Lockhart will quickly provide an explanation.
You’ll then get to learn more about this event he’s planning.
Here are the requirements for this task:
Year 4 = 3h – 1/5 stars;
Year 5 and above = 8h – 5/5 stars.
Like before, Gilderoy Lockhart enjoys being in the center of the spotlight, so all of the available actions are tied to him.
When he’s done explaining, you’ll still be unsure what the event is all about. Lockhart’s answer will be quite… unexpected.
In any case, he’ll leave the shop before you get the chance to ask him anything. Neither Andre nor Merula will be happy with the way he explained things.
As for Barnaby, the poor lad once again misunderstood things.
Sadly, none of you will know for sure what you need to do as apprentices for Gilderoy Lockhart.
You’ll suggest going to the Three Broomsticks and talking about Valentine’s Day there.
Go to Madam Rosmerta’s establishment when you are ready to continue.
Upon arriving, you’ll get to interact with some of the characters and check out what they have to say.
After settling down, Andre will ask you a question.
Merula won’t seem too excited to call you Chief Apprentice. Penny will propose an alternative.
Barnaby will want to hear your opinion. There are three options to choose from. This choice won’t heavily influence the story, so you can feel free to pick the option you prefer.
You’ll then start planning for the upcoming party.
Here are the requirements for this task:
Year 4 = 3h – 1/5 stars;
Year 5 and above = 3h – 5/5 stars.
The only bonus progress action here is linked to Talbott. Prioritize it if you want to save some energy.
You’ll sum things up when you’re done with the planning.
Still, there’s something missing. Your Hufflepuff friend will remind you of it.
Each of your friends will suddenly change their expression. Some of them will avoid looking at you directly, while others will smile at you.
You’ll suddenly start feeling uncomfortable, so you’ll quickly change the subject.
The first thing you need to get is the flowers. Proceed to the Herbology Greenhouse to meet Barnaby.
He’ll inform you that Lockhart instructed him to get flowers for the party. Luckily, there are plenty of red roses around.
You have two options to react to this. While this choice won’t have any significant impact on the story, if you like Barnaby, it is recommended to pick the first option.
Soon enough, you’ll start picking roses.
Here are the requirements for this task:
Year 4 = 3h – 1/5 stars;
Year 5 up to Chapter 16 = 1h – 5/5 stars;
Year 5 Chapter 17 and above = 3h – 5/5 stars.
There are bonus progress actions linked to Barnaby. Prioritize his actions if you’re looking to save a bit of energy.
When you’re done, you’ll have more than enough flowers for the party.
If you completed Let the Festivities Begin, you’ll get some additional dialogue lines here. Also, if Barnaby was your date, he’ll be sure to mention it.
You’ll notice he’s getting quite nervous.
If you completed First Date adventure, you’ll be in for some additional dialogue lines, especially if Barnaby was your date.
Eventually, he’ll get to the point and ask you to consider being his valentine.
He’ll then wave his wand and create a beautiful red rose for you.
You’ll be sure to thank him before leaving.
There’s a waiting period of five hours before you can continue. Since you will likely be low on energy at this point, it is recommended to wait and let your energy recharge in the meantime.
Once you’re able to continue, head to the Artefact Room to meet Penny. After greeting her, you’ll tell her about the owl you received from Lockhart.
You’ll ask her about the surprise. She will tell you she’s planning to use Entrancing Enchantment.
You’ll be unsure if that’s a good idea. After all, Professor Flitwick only told the class about those spells, he didn’t teach students how to cast them.
However, Penny will be very determined.
In the end, you’ll decide to help her.
Here are the requirements for this task:
Year 4 = 3h – 1/5 stars;
Year 5 and above = 3h – 5/5 stars.
The only bonus progress action here is tied to Penny, so focus on it if you want to save some energy.
When you’re done, Penny will try casting Entrancing Enchantment… aiming at you.
The spell won’t work, and she’ll be very sad about it. You’ll ask her to be a bit more careful. If her spell was successful, it would’ve hit you.
Perhaps her intention all along was casting the spell at you?
You’ll remind her how dangerous this enchantment could be. The feelings created by charms and potions aren’t real, and that wouldn’t be true love. You’ll also mention the Memory Charms.
Penny will think for a bit and ask if you believe in the power of true love. If you like Penny, it is recommended to pick the first option. Otherwise, you can go with whichever choice you prefer.
The reason Penny wanted to perform the spell is to impress Lockhart. You’ll try your best to comfort her. Still, she’ll be quite determined to bring her Valentine’s Day date along.
The following lines of dialogue will differ based on whether or not Penny was your date before.
She’ll openly admit she’d like you to be her Valentine’s Day date.
Before you get the chance to give her an answer, Andre will barge into the Artefact Room with a worried look on his face.
He’ll ask you to follow him to the Transfiguration classroom, so proceed there when you’re ready.
After asking him about the emergency, Andre will start filling you in. It seems that he doesn’t like Lockhart’s dress code.
He’ll then start explaining things in much more detail.
Here are the requirements for this task:
Year 4 = 3h – 1/5 stars;
Year 5 and above = 3h – 5/5 stars.
Both Andre and your character have bonus progress actions linked to them, which should save you a bit of energy.
Andre will feel much better once you hear him out.
He’ll want to know if you like the pink color. If you like Andre, it is recommended to go with the second option. Otherwise, feel free to pick either one.
You’ll give Andre some much-needed words of encouragement.
This will put a big smile on his face.
If you completed Let the Festivities Begin adventure, you’re in for some additional dialogue lines.
If he was your date before, he’ll be sure to mention it. Otherwise, he’ll be a bit sad about it.
This will definitely surprise you. It looks like Andre wants you to be his Valentine’s Day date. However, he won’t push you to give him your answer immediately.
In any case, you will decide to check what Talbott and Merula are doing. When you are ready, head to the Clocktower Courtyard to look for Talbott.
You’ll find him there, searching for something. Apparently, Gilderoy Lockhart tasked him with finding some doves.
You’ll offer your help without hesitation. Searching the Courtyard is your next task.
Here are the requirements for it:
Year 4 = 3h – 1/5 stars;
Year 5 and above = 3h – 5/5 stars.
If you completed Become an Animagus adventure, both you and Talbott will search the courtyard in your Animagus forms. Bonus progress actions are tied to Talbott and your character. Prioritize those actions to save some energy.
Sadly, you won’t have any luck finding doves.
Talbott will find the whole apprenticeship very suspicious, and he’ll ask for your opinion. There are three options to choose from. This choice will be referenced later on, and it is somewhat recommended to go with the first option.
Your friend will make some valid points about this whole thing.
Suddenly, Talbott will realize that he completely forgot about the outfits. You’ll tell him that the dress code is ‘pink’.
You’ll learn that Talbott isn’t a fan of the color pink. If you completed First Date adventure, you will get some additional dialogue lines.
Apparently, Talbott wants you to be his Valentine’s Day date. You’ll admit to him that others asked you already. You will also say that you haven’t made a decision yet.
Next, you’ll need to look for Merula. However, there is a waiting period of four hours before you can continue. Since you’ll likely be out of energy after completing the previous task, it is recommended to wait until this timer runs out and let your energy replenish in the meantime.
Once the waiting time is over, proceed to the Grand Staircase to find Merula. You’ll be able to interact with some of your friends upon arriving.
You will find the Most Powerful Witch at Hogwarts standing near the portrait of Sir Cadogan. You’ll also notice a Puffskein near her.
You’ll ask her about the party.
As it turns out, she’s only interested in two things out of Voyages, Vampires, and Valentines. You will get to guess which two. The correct answer is ‘Voyages and Vampires’.
It looks like Merula isn’t interested in valentines. She’ll even say that she hates Valentine’s Day and everything about it.
If she was your date previously, you’ll be sure to mention it.
She will, however, admit that she’s interested in going on a date with you.
Before you can give her your answer, Sir Cadogan will interrupt your conversation. If you completed Call to Knighthood adventure, you’ll mention it here.
Sir Cadogan will share some interesting information with you. Apparently, you and your friends weren’t randomly selected, but chosen by Gilderoy Lockhart. Also, there won’t be any other guests at the party.
You’ll then get to talk to Sir Cadogan about it.
Here are the requirements for this task:
Year 4 = 3h – 1/5 stars;
Year 5 and above = 3h – 5/5 stars.
There are actions with bonus progress tied to Sir Cadogan and your character. Prioritize these actions if you want to save some energy.
Once you’re done, you’ll sum things up. Apparently, Lockhart was talking to himself while walking past Sir Cadogan. He named all witches and wizards who will attend his party.
You’ll wonder if it’s possible that you and your friends are the only ones Lockhart invited to his party. Merula will also be curious about it.
You’ll recall the things Talbott said earlier.
The choice you made while talking to him will take effect here.
It surely looks like ‘random selection’ wasn’t so ‘random’ after all. In any case, you’ll decide to find your friends and inform them about this.
This will mark the end of Part 2 of Valentine’s Day at Hogwarts adventure. Hit the Collect button to claim your rewards. You will receive 2 Gems, 200 Coins, and 1 Chocolate Frog.
How will the rest of your friends react when they hear about this? And will you finally choose a date for Valentine’s Day? Find out in the next part of this adorable adventure!
Thank you for reading.
