Valentine’s Day Ball Part 2
Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery
Hello everyone, welcome to Part 2 of our Walkthrough for Valentine’s Day Ball Adventure for Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. During the previous part, Professor Dumbledore announced a special Valentine’s Day Ball. Needless to say, many of your friends were excited to hear that. Sadly, their excitement was short-lived, especially after they learned that Madam Pince is in charge of planning everything, and her ideas for the event aren’t exactly exciting or fun. Because of that, you decided to take matters into your own hands and convince the Librarian to make the ball more fun and memorable. However, this won’t be an easy task, but hopefully, with some help from your friends, you might be able to persuade her. Proceed to the Library when you are ready to meet with Penny.
[Disclaimer: This walkthrough will feature the gameplay from the perspective of a Year 7 student. Since the adventure is available for students of Year 5 and above, the star and attribute requirements for certain tasks might be different for you, depending on the year you’re in.]

Upon arriving, you will be able to interact with some of your friends and see what they have to say.

You will thank Penny for agreeing to meet with you.

She will happily smile at you and say she’s always willing to help.

You’ll tell her about your conversation with Professor Dumbledore.

While Penny won’t be able to tell you the meaning of the Headmaster’s words, she’ll be certain that his advice will prove helpful.

Still, you will need to find a reason to talk to the Librarian again.

Moments later, Madam Pince will approach you, and remind both Penny and you that the Library is no place for chatting.

You will apologize and ask if you can have a moment of her time to talk about the Valentine’s Day Ball.

Unfortunately, she won’t be willing to talk to you about it.

You will try taking a different approach and say that Professor Dumbledore assured you that she wants to make the event wonderful and memorable.

You’ll smile cheekily and say that he also suggested that you cooperate with her to make the ball even more grandiose.

This will seem to work, and you’ll get Madam Pince’s attention.

You will say that both Penny and you want to help, which is why you need to understand why she wants the ball to be so simple.

This requires earning five stars within eight hours. All five stars are needed to pass.

The only 5-cost action here is tied to your character. Prioritize your own action if you want to save a bit of energy.

Madam Pince will simply say that she doesn’t want to create a storybook romance since those kinds of fairy tales often don’t have a happy ending.

In other words, she doesn’t want anyone to feel lonely or excluded.

Both Penny and you will try to explain that Valentine’s Day is all about connecting with people.

Madam Pince will calmly say she doesn’t want anyone to feel disappointed or out of place.

Moments later, she will return to her work.

It won’t take you long to realize that Madam Pince is feeling lonely.

Penny will say it’s understandable. After all, being with someone who makes your heart race faster is what Valentine’s Day is all about.

She will even admit that she fancies you.

If you’ve been dating Penny before, you will tell her that you feel the same. Otherwise, you’ll say she’s really sweet.

You will notice that she’s getting nervous about something.

Suddenly, she will decide to come clean and ask you to go to Valentine’s Day Ball with her.

She will be very considerate of your feelings, so she’ll let you think for a while before giving her your answer.

You will tell her there’s no need for her to be nervous. If the two of you went on dates previously, you will be sure to mention it.

Once again, Penny will tell you how much she cares about you.

You will smile and thank her for asking you out.

Still, you will have to figure out how to save Valentine’s Day Ball from being boring and uneventful.

Penny will smile at you and say she’ll eagerly await your answer.

Moments later, Mr. Filch will chase one student out of the Library. This will draw Madam Pince’s attention.

He will apologize to her for causing a scene.

However, the Librarian won’t seem to mind it. She will even smile and thank him for helping her with the dance preparations.

Penny will find the whole scene rather comical.

This will give you an interesting idea. Perhaps she would start believing in fairy tales once again if she would have her own valentine.

Your Hufflepuff friend will find your idea very adorable.

You just need to find a way to connect the two of them.

Penny will suggest causing some trouble in order to get Mr. Filch’s attention.

Thankfully, you know a person that could help you do that.

You will have to wait four hours until Merula is ready to meet with you. Since you’ll likely be low on energy at this point, it is recommended to wait and let your energy recharge in the meantime.

Head to the Clocktower Courtyard once the waiting time is over.

When you arrive, you will notice the speech bubbles above some of your friends. Tap on those if you are interested to see what they have to say.

Merula will be curious to know why you wanted to meet with her.

You’ll quickly get to the point and say you need her help getting Filch’s attention.

She’ll be unsure if pairing Mr. Filch and Madam Pince is a good idea.

You will tell her that the two of them looked happy talking to each other, which is why it might work.

You’ll also share more details about your plan with Merula.

After giving it a thought, she will agree to help you.

You will then get to brainstorm a scheme together.

This requires earning five stars within three hours. Since all five stars are needed to pass, it is recommended not to start this task if your energy is low.

There are 5-cost actions linked to Merula and your character. Prioritize those if you want to save as much energy as possible.

In the end, Merula will decide to use Colovaria to change Mrs. Norris’s color to pink.

She will be curious to know why you want to help Madam Pince. There are three options to reply with. These won’t affect the story in any significant way, so feel free to pick whichever option you prefer.

Merula will say that Pince and Filch would make quite an odd couple.

You’ll simply say that you aren’t the one to judge them.

Merula will smile at you and ask you to be her valentine.

You will be very surprised to hear that.

If the two of you went on a date before, Merula will be sure to mention it.

Eventually, she will change her mind and ask you to forget she said anything.

You’ll quickly ask her to wait and say that her offer was very sweet.

She will be surprised to hear you say that.

You’ll tell her that you need to focus on saving Valentine’s Day Ball before choosing a date.

She will laugh and say that there’s no way you’ll get a better offer than the Most Powerful Witch at Hogwarts.

Just before you get the chance to say anything, you will notice Filch and Mrs. Norris arriving.

Merula will tell you to think about her offer before it’s too late.

She’ll then take out her wand and cast Colovaria on Mrs. Norris.

Her spell will work exactly as intended, and the Caretaker’s cat will suddenly become much more colorful.

Needless to say, Mr. Filch won’t be happy about it, and he’ll demand to know who’s responsible for changing Mrs. Norris’s color.

He will notice you standing nearby and assume you were the one who did it.

Merula will say that you’ve got what you wanted before leaving the courtyard.

Moments later, the Caretaker will ask you to report to his office, so go there when you are ready.

When you arrive, you’ll notice that he’s furious about what happened to his cat.

You will quickly apologize to him and Mrs. Norris.

You will then take out your wand and reverse the effects of Merula’s spell.

Moments later, Mrs. Norris will be back to normal.

Mr. Filch will be curious to know why you pulled a prank on his cat. There are two options to reply with. Both of these will end up with a similar outcome, so feel free to pick either one.

You will tell the Caretaker you wanted to talk to him about Valentine’s Day Ball.

He will wonder if Madam Pince said something about him.

You will notice that he cares about the Librarian and ask him about it.

Naturally, he won’t admit it, and he’ll just say he’s helping her with the preparations.

You will use the opportunity to ask if he’d be willing to help Madam Pince some more.

This will grab the Caretaker’s attention.

You’ll tell him you assumed that he would want to talk to Madam Pince about the ball.

Mr. Filch will bluntly admit he knows nothing about planning dances, and he doesn’t want to disappoint the Librarian.

This is where you’ll use your cleverness to convince him to talk to her.

He will be interested to hear what you have to say.

You’ll cheekily offer to help him get ready for his meeting with Madam Pince.

It will work, and he’ll agree to let you help him get organized for the meeting.

To do this, you will need to earn five stars within three hours. All five stars are needed to pass, which is why it’s recommended not to start this task if your energy is low.

There are 5-cost actions linked to Mrs. Norris and your character. Prioritize those if you want to save some energy.

Mr. Filch will sum everything up.

You’ll add that the party should be fun and enjoyable for everyone.

You will also tell him that Madam Pince needs someone she respects to confirm all of it… someone like the Caretaker.

Mr. Filch will admit that he doesn’t like any of the things you mentioned.

You’ll remind him that those are the things Madam Pince likes, and you will use your persuasive skills to convince him.

Luckily enough, you will manage to convince him.

You will then push things a little further and suggest that he dresses for the occasion.

Unfortunately, he’ll say that he doesn’t know how to do that since he is just a Squib.

You will tell him you know someone who could give him a makeover.

Initially, Mr. Filch will be strictly against that idea.

However, after a bit of convincing, he will agree to give it a try.

Head to the Transfiguration classroom when you are ready.

Andre will tell you that he’s very busy making outfits for Valentine’s Day Ball.

You will say that you need his help in order to save the event.

Mr. Filch will remind you that the ball will be a proper event, thanks to Madam Pince’s vision.

Poor Andre will be confused to hear that. After all, every student knows that the Librarian’s ideas for the ball are pretty boring.

The Caretaker will ask you to explain what’s going on.

You will quickly save yourself by saying that Mr. Filch wants to help Madam Pince have a storybook Valentine’s Ball.

Andre will immediately figure out what you’re trying to achieve, and he’ll ask if there’s anything he can do to help.

You’ll tell him that Mr. Filch needs to get a proper outfit for the occasion.

Once again, the Caretaker will say he’s against having a makeover.

You will remind him that he’ll be doing it for his colleague.

Andre will also help you convince him.

And even Mrs. Norris will seem to like the idea.

In the end, the Caretaker will agree to get a makeover.

Styling up Mr. Filch requires earning five stars within eight hours. All five stars are needed to pass.

There are 5-cost actions linked to Andre, Mrs. Norris, and a mannequin. Focusing on those should save you some energy.

Once he’s done dressing up, Mr. Filch will look nothing like his usual self.

Andre will be positively shocked to see the result of his work.

The Caretaker will assume he looks horrible. There are two options to reply with. This choice will be referenced later on. If you like Mr. Filch, it is recommended to pick the first option.

You will wonder if Madam Pince will like his outfit.

Andre will be quite confident that she will.

He’ll then reveal another surprise – Mrs. Norris in an adorable cat outfit.

You’ll ask Mr. Filch if he is ready for his meeting with Madam Pince.

He will decide to fix his tie before going to the Library.

You’ll thank Andre for being kind enough to help you.

He will use the opportunity to flirt with you and ask you to go to Valentine’s Day Ball with him. If the two of you went on a date before, he’ll be sure to mention it.

Unfortunately, before you get the chance to give him your answer, Mr. Filch will be done fixing his tie.

He’ll suggest heading to the Library as soon as possible.

Before you go, Andre will tell you that he’ll eagerly await your answer.

You will thank him for helping you.

Proceed to the Library when you are ready.

Upon arriving, you will be able to interact with some of your friends and see what they have to say.

Talbott will tell you that Madam Pince is putting jinxes on some of the new books.

Mr. Filch will assume that Talbott is eager to cause some trouble.

You’ll ask him to keep his voice down since all of you are in the Library.

Once again, the Caretaker will wonder if he’s looking ridiculous in his outfit.

Your previous choice will take effect here.

Shortly after, he will decide to look for Madam Pince.

Talbott will say that he knows you’re trying to save Valentine’s Day Ball.

You’ll nod and say that you’re planning to have Mr. Filch help you convince Madam Pince to change her ideas for the ball.

Talbott will quickly offer his help.

You’ll find it odd that he’s interested in the ball.

If you dated Talbott before, you’ll get some additional lines of dialogue here. Otherwise, he’ll simply say he’d like to go there with you.

You will thank him for inviting you to the ball, but before you get to give him your answer, he’ll suggest that you talk to Madam Pince first and save the dance.

Shortly after, Madam Pince will arrive. She will compliment Mr. Filch’s looks.

He’ll say he wanted to try something different, but he’s worried that he might look bad.

Madam Pince will assure him that he looks very nice.

She will also notice you standing nearby and ask if there’s something you want.

There are two options to reply with. Both options will lead to a similar outcome, so feel free to pick either one.

The Caretaker will say that you were helping him get organized.

Madam Pince will nod, and moments later, their meeting will start.

Attending the meeting requires earning five stars within eight hours. All five stars are needed to pass.

The only 5-cost action here is tied to your character, so focus on your own actions if you want to save a bit of energy.

Mr. Filch will say that he thinks adding more fun things would make Valentine’s Day Ball even better.

He’ll even say some nice things to Madam Pince.

She will be unsure if doing all that would be a good idea.

You will also say a few words to convince her.

Even Talbott will help you out with persuading her.

You will say that you wanted to make sure both of them get Valentine’s Day Ball they want.

Madam Pince will be surprised to hear that.

The Caretaker will tell her she deserves a fairy tale ball.

You will add that Mr. Filch will stay by her side to make sure everything turns out the way she wants.

Talbott will also help you out.

The Caretaker will nod and say it would be his honor.

In the end, Madam Pince will agree to make the event more enjoyable for everyone.

Both Talbott and you will smile and say you agree with her.

Still, there will be a lot of extra work to prepare everything.

Mr. Filch will be quick to offer his help.

You will also say you’re willing to help.

Madam Pince will nod and say she’d appreciate the help.

She’ll remind you that she still wants the event to stay classy, including the music.

Speaking of music, you will decide to see if Chiara can help you with it.
