Chapter 10 – The vault of ice

Introduction

Hello everyone, welcome to our Walkthrough for Chapter Ten of Year Two of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. In the previous Chapter, you attended the Transfiguration class and learned Porcupine to Pin Cushion.

You then went to the Courtyard to meet with Bill, but on the way there you encountered Hagrid. He told you that the cursed ice has spread all over Hogwarts and that the professors are doing all they can to stop it from spreading any further.

Afterward, you met with Bill and you had to change the plan. Instead of going there with all your friends, you decided to go with Bill and one more person while the other two help the professors with the cursed ice situation.

Now is the time to continue where you left off. Upon starting the chapter, you will be met with a waiting period of eight hours. Because of that, it is recommended to do the lessons part of the chapter first.

Hit the GO button and proceed to the Potions classroom. Unlocking Swelling Solution lesson will require you to earn a total of nine stars from the Potions classes.

One of the easiest ways to do it is by completing three three-hour classes. However, if you aim to get some additional attribute and house points, you may want to consider doing two eight-hour classes.

Do these classes in the same manner as the other ones you had so far. Simply complete actions by tapping on the glowing objects. This, in turn, will fill up the star meter and earn you stars.

Prioritize bonus progress actions (actions with the highest cost) if you want to save as much energy as possible.

Also, focus on completing all of the mini-tasks successfully in order to maximize the attribute points gained.

Once you collect nine stars in total, the Swelling Solution lesson will be unlocked, so head back to the classroom to attend it.

To complete the Swelling Solution lesson, you need to earn five stars within three hours. Since all five stars are required to pass, you should consider having full energy prior to starting the lesson.

Do this in a similar way to the classes you had before, and you should be able to complete it quickly and easily.

When you earn the fifth star, you’ll need to wave your wand over the cauldron to complete the potion. Trace the path on the screen to finish the Swelling Solution.

Now that the lesson is out of the way, you can continue the story. Hit the GO button and proceed to the Courtyard to meet with your friends.

Once you arrive, you will introduce your friend to Bill. You’ll thank both of them for agreeing to help you.

After discussing the plan for a while, the three of you will decide to head to the hidden corridor. Proceed to the West Towers corridor when you are ready to continue.

The plan is pretty simple. You and your friends will focus on hitting the door while watching out and dodging the icy blasts.

When it’s your turn, trace the wand movement on the screen to cast the Fire-Making Spell.

Breaking the Ice door will be the next task. To complete it, you need to earn five stars within eight hours. All five stars are required to pass.

There are a few important things to note here. First, you need all five stars to pass. Second, once you start the task, you won’t be able to leave the room until you complete it. Because of those reasons, it is extremely important to have full energy before starting.

This task will consist of casting Incendio and dodging the cursed ice. It is pretty straightforward, and you shouldn’t have much trouble completing it. Repeat this three times and the task will be done.

After you are done, Bill will notice that the cursed ice on the door is almost broken. The only thing left is to cast one more Fire-Making Spell to destroy it.

However, this victory will be short-lived. The ice knight will burst out of the door and freeze both of your friends. It is up to you to defeat the knight and save your friends. Tap on the crossed wands to open the task window.

It will show you the recommended attribute levels as well as the cost of each attempt. When you are ready to begin, hit the Start button.

This duel shouldn’t prove to be too challenging. Unless you completely rushed through the story so far, your attributes should be higher than the recommended ones, which will give you the advantage. Even if your attribute levels are close to recommended ones, there is a solid strategy you can use to win this duel.

You can choose to go Aggressive during the first turn and use Incendio. In the second turn, you can go Sneaky and use Flipendo. As long as you get the burning effect from Incendio, you should easily be able to win the duel.

The other strategy you can use involves going Sneaky all the time and hitting your enemy with Flipendo. This should allow you to win the duel in three turns. However, if you get unlucky, you might end up losing the duel. Still, both these strategies should help you win the duel with a bit of luck.

After you manage to defeat the ice knight, your next task will be to free your friends. This is a relatively easy task. It requires you to earn five stars within one hour.

Be warned, however, that in order to complete it, you will need twenty-five energy points, and since you cannot leave the room until you’re done, it is recommended to have enough energy before starting.

The first task will involve freeing Bill. You will need to complete one action with twelve energy cost and then cast the Fire-Making Spell in order to melt the cursed ice.

After that, you’ll need to free your other friend. Repeat the same steps, and you should be able to complete this task easily.

After you are done with that, you will be able to enter the Cursed Vault and see what secrets it holds. When you get inside, you’ll notice a large glowing column in the middle of the room.

After touching it, it will split open and inside you will notice a book and a broken wand.

You’ll also hear Jacob’s voice telling you to find the other vaults as well as his room. You will tell your friends about it. When you tell your friends about it, they will believe you.

You’ll think that the book may contain the clue to the next Cursed Vault, but will be full of odd scribbles and drawings. Bill will suggest leaving the place.

If you decided to bring Ben Copper along, he will hide all the evidence you were ever there, so no one would be able to prove that you went to the Cursed Vault.

Your next task will be to report to Professor McGonagall, but there is a waiting period of eight hours before you can do so.

Once the waiting time is over, tap on the GO button and proceed to the West Towers. Professor McGonagall will await you right outside of Dumbledore’s office.

McGonagall will mention that your brother once opened the Cursed Vault and stopped the ice from spreading, but nobody knows who activated the vault this time.

She will take fifty house points from you because of your meddling with the Cursed Vault. However, if you took Ben with you, you will avoid this punishment because he would remove any evidence of your involvement.

After that, she’ll tell you that the Headmaster wants to have a word with you. Once you enter his office, you will find Dumbledore quite busy, so you’ll have some time to look around while he is working.

This task will require you to earn five stars within eight hours. One star is needed to pass. Once you are ready, hit the Start button to begin.

The task is divided into three parts. For the first part of the task, you’ll be looking at the various portraits.

Then, you’ll look around Dumbledore’s desk.

And lastly, you’ll check the upper section of his office.

When you’re done, the Headmaster will be able to dedicate his time to you. You’ll learn that he is well aware of your recent adventure.

He’ll ask if you have something to say for yourself. You have three options to choose from.

The second choice requires you to have Knowledge at level fifteen. It is recommended to pick this option since unlike the other two, it will reward you with ten attribute points. And that is not all. After explaining a few more things, Dumbledore will award you fifty house points!

He’ll also warn you to stop searching for the Cursed Vaults since it is too dangerous for a student to meddle with such things. With this, Chapter 10 of Year 2 will be completed. Hit the Collect button to claim your rewards. You will receive 250 Coins and 500 Experience points.

What an amazing chapter! Now, that was a great adventure. You dueled the ice knight, saved your friends, and found some clues that could help you locate Jacob. Most importantly, you broke the curse and saved everyone!
