A Unicorn Surprise Side Quest

Hello everyone, welcome to our Walkthrough for A Unicorn Surprise Side Quest of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. This is a creature-related side quest that will give you the opportunity to improve your friendship level with Hagrid. Students of Year 3 and above will be able to unlock this side quest. Once you unlock it, Hagrid will ask you to meet with him in the Forest Grove, so proceed there when you are ready.

When you arrive, you will realize you weren’t the only one to get Hagrid’s message.

Barnaby will be very excited about Hagrid’s surprise.

As for Merula, she will admit that she isn’t really a fan of surprises.

Shortly after, the three of you will approach Hagrid and notice that he has a unicorn beside him.

He will be very glad to see all of you.

Barnaby will be amazed by this majestic creature.

You’ll also admit that you love unicorns.

Hagrid will inform you that he plans to take the unicorn to Hogsmeade.

Needless to say, it would be a sight to behold.

Merula will assume that’s not the real reason why Hagrid wants to take the unicorn to Hogsmeade. You can choose to agree with her or defend Hagrid. If you like Merula, it is somewhat recommended to side with her. On the other hand, if you believe Hagrid, you should probably pick the first option.

Either way, Hagrid will admit that he’s made a wager to a friend in Hogsmeade, which is why he wants to take the unicorn there.

Barnaby will offer to tell Hagrid’s mate about the unicorn, so that he could win the bet.

Unfortunately, that’s not how it works, and you’ll explain that Hagrid actually needs to show his mate the unicorn in order to win the bet.

Hagrid will say that he wants to make sure the unicorn is prepared for the journey.

You will notice that this magical creature is behaving very oddly.

You will wonder what’s bothering the unicorn.

Merula will say there could be many different things that would cause unicorns to behave oddly.

Hagrid will say he wants the three of you to try and calm the unicorn.

You will suggest accompanying them on the journey to Hogsmeade.

Merula will agree with you on that.

Hagrid will wonder if taking you along would be a good idea.

You will explain that you’ll do your best to be helpful.

Still, you’ll need to do some convincing to get Hagrid to agree with your proposition.

This requires earning five stars within an hour. Only one star is needed to pass.

If you want to save as much energy as possible, it is recommended to earn a single star and wait for the timer to run out. Also, it’s worth noting there are 5-cost actions linked to Barnaby and Hagrid.

In the end, Hagrid will agree that you’ve made some good points.

You will wonder if that means he’s agreeing to take you along.

He’ll explain that you need to get to know the unicorn first.

You will suggest taking the unicorn to the Training Grounds before heading to Hogsmeade.

Before that, you will have to unlock the unicorn by adopting him in the Magical Creatures Reserve. To do that, you will need to have Magizoology at level 7. Also, to adopt the unicorn, you will need 90 Red and 25 Blue Notebooks. Luckily, this quest is not time-limited, so you can take as long as you need to unlock this magical creature.

Proceed to the Training Grounds once you unlock the unicorn.

Upon arriving, you will smile at the unicorn and say you want to get to know him better and find out if there’s anything bothering him.

Barnaby will grin cheerfully and say that all of you will be a good and trustworthy company.

As for Merula, she’ll say she’s very knowledgeable when it comes to these magical creatures, and she wants to make the trip comfortable for the unicorn.

You will ask her to share some of her knowledge of magical creatures with you.

She’ll say that most adult unicorns rarely trust men, which might be the reason why the unicorn was behaving oddly near Hagrid.

Barnaby will say he doesn’t think that’s the case, especially since Hagrid is great with magical creatures.

He will suggest taking a gentler approach.

Shortly after, he will turn to you and ask for your opinion. There are three options to choose from. If you like Barnaby, it is recommended to agree with him. If you like Merula, you should probably side with her. Otherwise, you can feel free to pick any of the options.

Regardless of your choice, Barnaby will say that all of you want the same thing.

You will then get to know the unicorn. This requires earning five stars within three hours. One star is needed to pass.

There are 5-cost tied to Barnaby and your character. Focus on those if you want to save some energy.

You will notice that the unicorn is getting very comfortable around all of you.

You will take out some food and give it to the unicorn.

Shortly after, Hagrid will arrive and praise your creature-handling skills.

Merula will be curious if he’ll let you accompany him to Hogsmeade.

Hagrid will turn towards the majestic creature and ask if he’s feeling comfortable around you.

The unicorn’s response will be very positive.

Before heading to Hogsmeade, you will need to reach level 5 trust with the unicorn. This might take some time, but since this side quest is not limited by time, you can take as long as you need.

Proceed to Hogsmeade Train Station once you complete the previous task.

When you arrive, you will be able to interact with some of the characters by tapping on the speech bubbles above them.

Hagrid will be very excited to guide the unicorn around Hogsmeade.

He will ask if you have any suggestions. There are two options to reply with. These won’t have any big impact on the story, so feel free to take your pick.

Regardless of your choice, Hagrid will say that one of his friends is gathering the local children to see the unicorn.

Merula will wonder if this ‘friend’ is the same one he made a bet with.

Hagrid will nod and tell you he wants to go ahead and make sure everything is ready.

As soon as he leaves, the unicorn will start getting upset about something.

You will ask your friends if they have any idea what’s bothering him.

Merula will notice he’s reluctant to come with you.

You will suggest calming down the unicorn before heading into town.

This requires earning five stars within three hours. All five stars are needed to pass, which is why you shouldn’t start this task if your energy is low.

There are 5-cost actions linked to Barnaby and your character. Prioritize these if you want to save some energy.

Thankfully, you will succeed at calming down the unicorn.

You will suggest going to meet Hagrid and introduce this magical creature to the children.

Suddenly, you will hear Bilton yelling for everyone to watch out.

You will turn around and notice that he accidentally released several Fanged Frisbees.

Barnaby will say he isn’t exactly a fan of those.

As for Merula, she will find them rather interesting.

Moments later, you will realize that the unicorn is nowhere to be seen.

Barnaby will assume that he got scared by the Fanged Frisbees.

Merula will suggest going after the unicorn as soon as possible.

You will agree with her and shortly after, three of you will head to town.

You will track the unicorn to the Three Broomsticks. Proceed there when you are ready.

You will find the unicorn causing quite a scene inside the inn.

Needless to say, Madam Rosmerta won’t be too happy having this magical creature in her establishment.

She will notice you arriving and ask if you have anything to do with it. There are two options to reply with. It is somewhat recommended not to lie to Madam Rosmerta, which is why you should pick the second option.

Eventually, she will ask you to get the unicorn out as soon as possible.

The Witch and the Wizard will be very interested in this magical creature.

Barnaby and Merula will explain why you’ve brought the unicorn to town.

You will also make it perfectly clear that you won’t let them harm this majestic creature.

Unfortunately, they won’t be willing to leave the unicorn alone.

Because of that, you will have to do some convincing.

This requires earning five stars within three hours. All five stars are needed to pass, which is why it’s recommended not to start this task with an empty energy bar.

There are 5-cost actions linked to your character and Merula. Focus on those if you want to save some energy.

In the end, they will decide not to bother you anymore.

You will be glad that they decided to change their minds.

As for Madam Rosmerta, she’ll say she’s pleased too.

Upon being asked why, she’ll point out that the unicorn is no longer in her establishment.

Thankfully, Merula will hear a commotion nearby and figure out that the unicorn most likely went to Zonko’s.

Proceed there when you are ready.

You will find Hagrid already in Zonko’s when you arrive.

Apparently, the unicorn managed to find his way to Hagrid.

You’ll tell Bilton that he really made a mess back at the station.

He will apologize for releasing the Frisbees.

Hagrid will remind him to be more careful with his pranks in the future.

He will also say that he managed to calm the unicorn down.

The three of you will inform Hagrid about what happened recently.

Merula will look at this magical creature and say she’s sorry for not taking better care of him.

Barnaby will notice that the unicorn didn’t want to leave in the first place and he’ll wonder about it. There are three options to reply with. None of these will have any big impact on the story, so feel free to pick whichever one you prefer.

Regardless of your choice, Hagrid will say there has to be something about the unicorn that you overlooked, especially since he is so eager to go back to the forest.

He’ll mention that the children are still waiting to see this marvelous creature. Also, there’s a matter of his bet as well.

You and your friends will then decide to convince Hagrid to take the unicorn back to Hogwarts.

This requires earning five stars within eight hours. All five stars are needed to pass.

There are 5-cost actions linked to Hagrid and your character. Prioritize those if you are looking to save some energy.

You will tell Hagrid you really want to do the right thing and take the unicorn back to Magical Creatures Reserve.

He’ll nod and say that the unicorn agrees with you.

He will also tell you that you’ve made some very good points.

You’ll ask him about the bet he made.

In the end, he’ll say that the bet isn’t important.

You will thank him for agreeing with you.

Shortly after, all of you will head back to Hogwarts.

You will need to reach the maximum level of trust with the unicorn before you can continue. Once again, there is no time limit on this side quest, so take as long as you need.

Proceed to the Dark Forest once you’re done with that.

As it seems, Hagrid has another surprise for you.

Merula will be sure to point out that she hates surprises. However, she did seem to like the unicorn.

Barnaby will also say that he enjoyed spending time with this marvelous creature.

He’ll ask if you have any idea why Hagrid wanted to meet with you. There are three options to choose from. These won’t have any big impact on the story, so feel free to take your pick.

Moments later, Hagrid will arrive and say that the mystery’s been solved.

You’ll take a look and notice two unicorns nearby.

Barnaby will quickly figure out why the unicorn wanted to come back.

According to Hagrid, the other unicorn was trapped in a nearby cave.

He will also tell you there’s another surprise.

Merula will be curious to know what the surprise is.

You’ll chuckle at her for saying that.

Hagrid will happily say that there’s a baby unicorn on the way.

All of you will be incredibly happy to hear that.

You will use the opportunity to gently pat the unicorn.
