Hello everyone, welcome to our Walkthrough for Career Advice Side Quest for Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery. This quest becomes available during Year Three of your Hogwarts Studies. During this one, you’ll help Bill choose a career he’ll pursue once he finishes his Hogwarts studies. There are several options he’s considering, and hopefully, you’ll help him make this decision that’ll have a significant impact on the rest of his life.
When you are ready, hit the GO button and proceed to meet him in the Library.
Once you get there, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the students. Tap on those if you are interested to see what they have to say to you.
You’ll find Bill reading some leaflets and researching his career options.
He’ll ask for your opinion and you’ll have a chance to pick one of three options. This will lead to different dialogue lines, but the overall outcome will be the same.
You’ll then get to research career options with him. This task requires earning five stars within an hour. Only one star is needed to pass.
The energy requirements for this whole side quest are scaled down to year three. This means it’ll take a lot less energy to complete it if you are doing this in Year 5. On average, you’ll need around 25 energy to finish this task and earn all five stars.
After you’re done, you’ll ask Bill if he’d like you to help him find a career.
However, he’ll be quite reluctant at first, so you’ll have to convince him.
In order to do that, you need to reach relationship level 10 with him.
Once you’re done with that, proceed to meet him in the Transfiguration Classroom.
As it turns out, he’s considering the possibility of becoming an Auror.
And who better to ask about that than Professor McGonagall. After all, she did work at the Ministry of Magic before.
However, there are always other options, and the two of you will discuss those while waiting for the Professor to arrive. To do this, you need to earn five stars within three hours. One star is required to pass.
You should be able to earn all of the stars with around 50 energy or so.
Once you are done, Professor McGonagall will arrive and explain some of the most important requirements for becoming an Auror.
This will give you a nice idea. Proceed to the Training Grounds for your next task.
You’ll then suggest that the two of you do some dueling practice in order to hone your skills.
He’ll ask if you are sure about this and you have three options to respond with. Each of those will lead to the same outcome, so feel free to pick whichever one you prefer.
The task window will display the recommended attribute levels as well as the gold cost of each attempt.
In general, the attribute requirements are quite low, so you shouldn’t have much trouble with this.
Once you win, he’ll ask that you explore some less intense careers, and you’ll suggest Herbology.
Head to the Herbology Classroom when you are ready.
Professor Sprout will be surprised to see the two of you, but you’ll quickly explain the reason you’re here.
She’ll then task Bill with teaching you how to grow a Leaping Toadstool. This requires earning at least one out of five possible stars within three hours.
Like the previous one, you should be able to finish this one with around 50 energy or so.
Sadly, your Leaping Toadstool failed to meet the expectations.
Perhaps Herbology isn’t the right career for your friend?
Next, you’ll get to see if how good Bill is with Potions. However, you’ll have to wait for three hours before continuing.
Once you are able to proceed, head to the Potions Classroom to consult with Snape.
Bill will be a bit frightened about this, but all things considered, it’s quite understandable.
You’ll then approach Snape and explain why you’re here.
He’ll task you with creating a unique potion. You have three options to choose from. There are some minor dialogue differences, but the general outcome is pretty much the same.
Creating an Original potion is a three-hour task with the passing requirement of one out of five stars.
Like before, you’ll need 50 energy to fully complete this task and earn all the stars.
Once you are done, Snape will tell you that the only way to test your potion is to drink it.
You'll be able to choose whether you or Bill should be the one to drink it. The following scene will play out quite differently, depending on the choice, but it will eventually lead to the same outcome.
Sadly, the potion won’t work the way you intended, but at least the effects should wear off fairly soon.
Next, you should proceed to the Great Hall to discuss career options with Bill.
Upon arriving, you can interact with some of your friends before continuing.
As it turns out, Bill is now very determined to become a curse-breaker.
You’ll then get to reminiscence with your friend. This task requires earning at least one out of five stars within eight hours.
Most of the actions tied to Bill have the cost of 5 energy, so focus on those in order to complete the task faster.
When you are done, he will thank you for helping him with career research.
Shortly after that, the quest will come to an end. Hit the Collect button to claim your rewards.
In the end, Bill is very determined to become a curse-breaker. Well, that’s perhaps for the best. At least now, he’s certain that is the right career for him.
Thank you for reading and see you soon with more exciting quests and adventures!
