Once you start this side quest, you will receive a task to speak with Bill in the Library, so proceed there when you are ready.

career advice 1010

Once you get there, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the students. Tap on those if you are interested to see what they have to say to you.

You’ll find Bill reading some leaflets and researching his career options.

He’ll ask for your opinion and you’ll have a chance to pick one of three options. This will lead to different dialogue lines, but the overall outcome will be the same.

career advice 1040

You’ll then get to research career options with Bill. This task requires earning five stars within an hour. Only one star is needed to pass.

career advice 1050

If you want to save some energy, you can simply earn a single star and wait for the timer to run out.

However, if you are looking to get some extra rewards and a chance for a Chocolate Frog, you should fully complete this task. It is also worth mentioning there are bonus progress actions tied to your character and some of the books.

career advice 1060

After you’re done, you’ll ask Bill if he’d like you to help him find a career. He’ll be quite reluctant at first, so you’ll have to convince him. In order to do that, you need to reach relationship level 10 with Bill.

Given that this side quest is not time-limited, you don’t need to rush it. If you can maintain a high Charisma bonus, you should have an easier time completing this task.

career advice 1100

Once you’re done with that, proceed to meet Bill in the Transfiguration Classroom. When you arrive, you will learn that your friend is considering the possibility of becoming an Auror.

And who better to ask about that than Professor McGonagall. After all, she did work at the Ministry of Magic before.

career advice 1130

However, there are always other options, and the two of you will discuss those while waiting for the Professor to arrive.

To complete this task, you need to earn five stars within three hours. One star is required to pass.

career advice 1150

There is a bonus progress action tied to your character. Prioritize it if you want to save some energy.

career advice 1160

Once you are done, Professor McGonagall will arrive and explain some of the most important requirements for becoming an Auror.

She will tell him that he needs to focus on getting top grades in his subjects. He’ll likely need to get at least ‘Exceeds Expectations’ on his N.E.W.T.s to become an Auror. On top of that, he’ll have to be proficient in Defence Against the Dark Arts.

career advice 1180

This will give you a nice idea. Proceed to the Training Grounds for the next task.

You’ll tell Bill that the two of you can do some dueling practice in order to hone your skills.

Bill will ask if you are sure about that and you have three options to respond with. Each of those will lead to the same outcome, so feel free to pick whichever one you prefer.

career advice 1220

The task window will display the recommended attribute levels as well as the cost of the duel.

career advice 1230

Given that you previously needed to reach friendship level 10 with Bill, which has much higher attribute requirements, this duel should be relatively easy.

You will almost certainly have a significant attribute advantage, so one way of approaching this duel is to constantly go Aggressive or Sneaky, and use Depulso or Flipendo. This way, you should be able to win the duel in two turns.

career advice 1240

Once you win, Bill will ask that you explore some less intense careers, so you’ll suggest Herbology.

Head to the Herbology Classroom when you are ready to continue.

Professor Sprout will be surprised to see you and Bill, so you’ll quickly explain that the two of you are looking into careers in Herbology.

career advice 1270

She’ll task Bill with teaching you how to grow a Leaping Toadstool. This requires earning at least one out of five stars within three hours.

career advice 1290

Once again, prioritize actions with bonus progress if you want to save some energy. There is one such action tied to Bill.

career advice 1300

Sadly, your Leaping Toadstool will fail to meet the expectations. Professor Sprout will say that Bill overlooked some steps while he was instructing you.

You’ll suggest checking if Potions would suit Bill better. However, you’ll have to wait three hours before continuing. Since you will likely be low on energy at this point, it is recommended to wait until this timer runs out.

career advice 1340

Once you are able to proceed, head to the Potions Classroom to consult with Snape.

Bill will be a bit unsure about your plan, but all things considered, it’s quite understandable.

career advice 1360

You’ll approach Snape and tell him about Bill’s career research.

Snape will task you with creating a unique potion. You have three options to choose from. There are some minor dialogue differences, but the general outcome is pretty much the same.

career advice 1380

Creating an Original potion is a three-hour task with a passing requirement of one out of five stars.

career advice 1390

There are actions with bonus progress tied to Snape, the cauldron, the book, and some of the ingredients. Prioritize those actions to save energy.

career advice 1400

Once you are done, Snape will tell you that the only way to test your potion is to drink it.

You’ll be able to choose whether you or Bill should be the one to drink it. The following scene will play out quite differently, depending on your choice. However, both choices will eventually lead to the same outcome, so feel free to pick either option.

career advice 1420

Sadly, the potion won’t work the way you intended, but at least the effects should wear off fairly soon.

career advice 1430

Next, you should proceed to the Great Hall to meet with Bill. Upon arriving, you will notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you are curious to see what they have to say.

Bill will tell you he is very determined to become a curse-breaker.

career advice 1460

You’ll then get to reminisce with your friend. To complete this task, you need to earn five stars within eight hours. One star is required to pass.

career advice 1470

Most of the actions tied to Bill are bonus progress actions, so focus on those in order to complete the task faster.

career advice 1480

When you are done, Bill will thank you for helping him with career research.

career advice 1490

Shortly after that, the quest will come to an end. Hit the Collect button to claim your rewards. You will receive 10 Gems, 1200 Experience points, and 100 Courage points.

In the end, Bill decided he wants to become a curse-breaker. Well, that’s perhaps for the best. And you helped him realize it is the right career for him.

Thank you for reading and see you soon with more exciting quests and adventures!
