Hello everyone, welcome back to Chapter Four of Year Three of our Magical Journey Walkthrough for Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery. In the previous chapter, you searched Hogwarts for Hagrid’s missing dog, Fang. You looked through four places he likes to visit, but sadly, he was nowhere to be found. You then went to Hogsmeade for the first time and met Hagrid at the Three Broomsticks Inn. Luckily, you found out that his pup is safe and sound back at his hut. After talking to Madam Rosmerta, you learned that Jacob left a black quill at the inn, last time he was there. Sadly, Rosmerta couldn’t find it on such a short notice, so you agreed to help her with gathering some of the ingredients for her new and improved, extra-sweet butterbeer. After collecting all of the items on her list, she gave you the black quill. Using Reparifarge, it turned into a notebook. Sadly, Mr Filch took it from you.

Now you’ll have to find a way to get it back somehow. As soon as you start the chapter, you’ll receive the side quest to talk to Penny. Hit the GO button and proceed to the Great Hall to see what’s going on.

After talking to her for a while, she’ll ask if you like all of the fame you got for breaking the curse. You have two response options.

The only difference in the outcome of this choice is Penny’s comment, it won’t affect the story, so feel free to pick the option you like more. After a bit more talking, you’ll decide to get to know each other better over a meal. Tap on the handshake icon to open the task window.

In order to complete this task successfully, you have to be kind to Penny. You can also feel free to ask about her past since you can learn some interesting things that way. Below are some of the questions and the correct answers.

This task will reward you with 80 friendship points, so there is a good chance you’ll increase your friendship level with Penny.

After this, you two will talk some more and then you’ll get the next task to meet her in the Potions Classroom. You’ll need to wait for three hours or spend some gems before you are able to continue.

When you are able to continue, proceed to the Dungeons. You’ll see Penny near the classroom looking at one of the Prefects standing outside of it. She will ask you to quickly use Petrificus Totalus on him. You have three possible choices.

Even if you refuse to do so, Penny will cast the spell instead of you, so the outcome is pretty much the same. For that reason, it is recommended to go with the third option since it rewards the most attribute points. Then, the two of you will enter the classroom and you will find out that she needs some Leethe River Water. You can react to this in two different way.

Each of the options will award you with five attribute points. Even if you are not ok with stealing the ingredients, Penny will practically beg for your help, so in the end, you’ll agree to aid her. Completing this task requires you to earn five stars within three hours with one being required to pass.

This is pretty similar to the other story tasks, so simply complete actions by tapping on the glowing objects. This will fill up the star meter and eventually, you will earn stars.

When you are done, Penny will ask you to meet her later tonight in order to brew a potion. Once again, there are three hours of waiting time before you can proceed. As soon as you are able to continue, go to the Artefact Room to meet with her again.

When you get there, you’ll take a quick look at the ingredients she gathered. She will ask if you know what potion is made out of those? You have three possible options to choose from.

The correct answer is Forgetfulness Potion, so you should go with that answer. However, all of the options award five attribute points, and there are some interesting lines of dialogue if you go with some of the other two choices. Brewing this potion requires you to earn five stars within three hours. However, since all the stars are needed to pass, it is recommended to have full energy before starting this task.

Complete it in a similar manner as the previous one and you should have no problems.

When you are done, hit the Collect button to claim your rewards and continue.

By the looks of it, Penny is planning to drink it in order to remove the memories of a tragic event involving her late friend. You can advise her against it or you can agree with her.

This choice is entirely up to you. There are no immediate consequences of either option, so feel free to go with what your gut tells you. Either way, the quest will be completed. Tap on the Collect button to claim your rewards.

Now that you’re done with the side quest, you can proceed with the story. Hit the GO button and proceed to the Herbology Classroom to meet with Tonks.

When you get there, you can interact with some of the characters by tapping on the speech bubbles above them.

Once you are done with that, tap on the exclamation mark to continue. To complete this task, you need to earn five stars within three hours. The best thing about it is that the stars earned here will count towards unlocking Stinksap lesson, so you will effectively kill two birds with a single stone.

This works the same as any other lesson, so you can simply follow the same steps and be done quickly and easily.

After you are done, Tonks will ask what happened with Mr Filch. After explaining everything to her, she will ask you to meet her at Zonko’s Joke Shop in Hogsmeade. However, there is the waiting time of three hours before you can do that, so you can continue with the lessons part of the chapter.

To earn the final star needed to unlock Stinksap lesson, you can simply do a one-hour class to complete it quickly. However, if you want to earn some more attribute and house points, you might want to consider doing an eight-hour class. When you are done with it, the lesson should be unlocked. When you return into the classroom, you will notice the speech bubbles above some of the students. Tap on those if you are interested to see what they have to say.

Completing this lesson requires you to earn five stars within three hours. All of them are needed to pass, so having full energy when starting is highly recommended.

There are no major differences between this one and any other classes. Simply focus on all the high-cost actions available in order to optimize the usage of energy.

And focus on successfully completing mini-tasks so you could gain some extra Empathy points.

As soon as you have all five stars, you’ll be tasked with fertilizing the plant. Trace the path on the screen in order to perform this.

Tap on the Collect button to claim your rewards and continue.

The other lesson for this chapter is Depulso. Hit the GO button and proceed to the Charms Classroom.

Unlocking this one requires earning a total of six stars from Charms class. The fastest way to do this is by having three of the one-hour classes. However, this method will award you with the least amount of rewards, so if you want to earn some additional attribute or house points, you might want to consider doing two of the three-hour classes or even two of the eight-hour ones.

The best thing about Charms classes is that there are a lot of actions with a high-cost, so you’ll be able to do them fast and easy.

Completing all the mini tasks will gain you a nice amount of additional Empathy points.

When you are done with these classes, Depulso lesson should be unlocked. Proceed back to the classroom to attend it.

Once you are back there, you will notice that you can interact with some students by tapping on their speech bubbles.

When this is done, tap on the exclamation mark to continue. Learning the Banishing Charm requires you to earn five stars within three hours. When you are ready, hit the Start button to begin.

Since all the stars are required to pass, you might want to conserve energy by focusing on the actions with the high cost.

Also, when you obtain all five stars, it is time to cast the spell. Trace the wand movement in order to perform this.

When you are done, hit the Collect button to continue.

Lastly, Professor Flitwick will ask you to perform Depulso one more time in front of the entire class. Like before, trace the wand movement and cast the spell.

The Professor will be very pleased with your performance and he will award you with ten House Points. Another great thing is that you can now use this spell in duels. The Banishing Charm is usable in the aggressive stance and it deals seventeen points of base damage, further increased if your Empathy attribute is higher than your opponent’s.

Now that you’re done with the lessons part of the chapter, you can focus on the story. Hit the GO button and proceed to Zonko’s Joke Shop.

Once you are inside, you’ll notice that some of the characters have speech bubbles above them. Tap on those if you want to see what they have to say.

Afterward, tap on the exclamation mark to initiate the conversation with Tonks. After talking for a bit, you’ll receive a task to explore Zonko’s. Completing it requires you to earn five stars within three hours with one being required to pass.

Keep in mind that you can scroll the screen left and right in order to see all the actions that are available. Other than that, there isn’t anything special about this task.

When you are done, the shopkeeper, Bilton Bilmes will join your conversation. After talking for a bit, he will scare you with one of the oldest pranks. You can react to this in two different ways.

Selecting the first option requires you to have level two friendship with Tonks, otherwise, it is not available. However, since each response awards you with five attribute points, there is not much of a difference. Simply feel free to pick whichever option you find more appropriate. Shortly after, you’ll get to choose which of the pranking items will suit you best for dealing with Filch.

This choice won’t affect the overall outcome of the story but will add a small twist to the upcoming task. Your next task will be dealing with the caretaker. There is a waiting period of eight-hours before you can proceed.

Once you’re able to continue, proceed to the West Towers to meet up with Tonks. The plan is pretty straightforward – you are to enter Filch’s office and set up the prank. Then, assuming it works, you will have all the time in the world to search for your brother’s notebook. The first part of this plan is entering his office. Trace the wand movement on the screen to cast the Unlocking Charm.

When you enter, you’ll place the gift box containing the prank of your choosing on the caretaker’s desk. Shortly after, you’ll hear him approaching the office. The best way to hide quickly is by using the shrinking charm. Trace the wand movement on the screen in order to cast Reducio.

Then you will witness a rather hilarious scene involving Mr Filch and the pranking item you picked.

Once he leaves the room, it should be safe for you to return to your original size. You can do so by casting the Engorgement Charm.

Now you can freely search the office for Jacob’s notebook. This task requires you to earn five stars within one hour. Since only one star is required to pass, this should be rather easy to accomplish.

There are several tasks with five energy cost available, so completing this task should be a piece of cake.

After you are done, you’ll need to cast the Unlocking charm on a nearby drawer in order to see what’s inside.

And inside of it is exactly what you’ve been looking for – Jacob’s notebook! This will conclude the chapter and you’ll be able to get out of the office unnoticed.
