Chapter 5
Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery
Hello everyone, are you ready for Chapter Five of Year Three of our Magical Journey Walkthrough for Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery? In the previous chapter, you helped Penny brew a forgetfulness potion in order to forget about an unfortunate event from her past. After that, you went to Zonko’s with Tonks and picked up the perfect prank for the caretaker. Later on, you went and pranked Filch’s office by placing the item in the gift box. The caretaker opened it and then you witnessed one of the most hilarious scenes in the game. Thanks to this, you had plenty of time to search through his office and find Jacob’s notebook. However, the entirety of its contents is encrypted, so you’ll need Rowan’s help with deciphering it.
Sadly, you have to wait three hours before you are able to continue the story. Instead, you should focus on completing the lessons part of the chapter first. Hit the GO button and proceed to the Transfiguration Classroom.

In order to unlock the Duro lesson, you need to earn a total of six stars from Transfiguration Class. The fastest way to accomplish this is by taking three of the one-hour classes. However, if you want to earn some additional rewards, you might want to consider doing two of the three-hour or eight-hour classes.

As for these classes, simply complete actions by tapping on glowing objects. Prioritize the ones with the higher cost since they will fill up more of the star meter per energy point spent.

Also, successfully completing the mini-tasks after earning each of the stars will grant you ten Knowledge points per task.

When you are done with these classes, hit the Collect button to claim your rewards and continue.

Now that Duro lesson is unlocked, you can head back to the classroom to attend it. After a short introductory speech and a quick demonstration, the task window will open. Passing this lesson requires you to earn five stars within three hours. Because of this, you might want to consider having full energy before starting it.

This lesson behaves in a similar manner to the classes you had beforehand, so follow the same steps and you should have no problems with it.

As soon as you obtain all five stars, you will be tasked with casting the spell. Trace the wand movement on the screen to successfully perform this task.

Congratulations! You’ve learned another spell that might come in handy in the future. Hit the Collect button to continue.

Professor McGonagall will be so impressed with your display of skill that she will reward you with ten House Points. Now you can do the other lesson for the chapter. Hit the GO button and proceed to the Potions Classroom.

Similar to the previous one, unlocking the Antidote to Common Poisons requires a total of six stars earned from Potions Classes. Follow the same steps and you should be done with these quickly and easily.

Once you are done with the classes, Antidote to Common Poisons lesson should be unlocked, so proceed back to the classroom.

In order to complete this lesson, you need to earn five stars within three hours. As long as you start with full energy, this shouldn’t be a problem at all.

Simply do this like any other lesson – tap on the various glowing objects to complete actions. This will fill up the star meter and eventually, you will earn stars.

After earning each star, you’ll get a mini-task. Completing it successfully will earn you ten Knowledge points.

Lastly, once you earn the fifth star, you will be tasked with finishing the potion. Trace the wand movement on the screen to perform this successfully.

When you are done with the lesson, Barnaby will approach you saying that Merula asked him to spy on you. Afterward, one of the funniest scenes will ensue and you’ll be able to advise him against working with her.

It is recommended to select the first option as long as your Empathy is level thirteen or above. Now that you’re done with the lessons part of the chapter, you can continue the story. Hit the GO button and proceed to your common room. When you arrive, you will notice that some of the students have speech bubbles above their heads. Tap on those if you want to interact with them.

Afterward, tap on the exclamation mark to initiate the conversation with Rowan. You’ll show him the notebook and after a brief talk, you’ll get the task to decode it. To complete it, you need to earn five stars within three hours. However, only one star is required to pass, so it shouldn’t be too difficult.

Thankfully, there are a lot of actions with five-energy cost, which will make completing the task much easier.

When you are done, Rowan will be able to decipher the code written in the notebook. Apparently, Boggarts are related to one of the Cursed Vaults. Also, Jacob moved most of his research in an abandoned room on the fifth floor. You’ll have to look for that room in order to find the rest of his notes. You’ll be able to choose one friend to accompany you.

This choice will have a minor impact on the story, but overall, it shouldn’t affect the general outcome of the chapter, so feel free to pick whichever friend you prefer. Then, you should proceed to meet with your friend and look for Jacob’s room.

After searching for a while, the two of you will find a room locked with a two-key padlock. You’ll be able to choose a spell to use in order to open it.

After choosing, trace the wand movement on the screen in order to cast the spell.

Sadly, the spell won’t work, so your friend will decide to give it a go by casting the spell you didn’t pick. However, that will also be unsuccessful, so you’ll have to find some other way to open it. Then, you will notice a writing on the lock.

Apparently, your friend knows that this student spends a lot of time in the Transfiguration Classroom. Going there is your next task. However, at the same time, you will receive a side quest to talk to your Prefect. In general, you should focus on completing these as soon as they appear since most of them have great rewards which will definitely be of a great use on your curse-breaking adventures! Hit the GO button and proceed to your Common Room.

This quest differs a bit depending on the house you are in, but in general, there isn’t too much of a difference. When you get to the Common Room your Prefect will tell you that soon she will leave Hogwarts for good since this is the final year of her Hogwarts studies. You can react to this in three different ways.

Picking the second option is recommended as long as you meet the attribute requirement. After talking for a while, your Prefect will ask you to meet her on the Training Grounds. Hit the GO button and proceed there. Once you arrive, you’ll see her standing near some target dummies. Tap on the exclamation mark to initiate the conversation.

She will offer to teach you Immobulus. This spell is usable in Sneaky stance in duels and it deals medium damage with a chance of small stun. Learning it requires you to earn five stars within one hour. Since all five stars are required to pass, this could prove difficult to accomplish if you are low on energy. Because of this, you should wait before you are at full energy before starting it.

You should be able to do this with one energy bar, so it shouldn’t be too difficult.

When you are done, you’ll be tasked with casting the spell. Trace the wand movement on the screen to perform this.

Your next task will be to meet your Prefect in the Potions Classroom. There is a waiting period of three hours before you can proceed. You can either wait for a while or spend some gems, it’s up to you.

The reason your Prefect wants to meet you there is fairly simple – to teach you how to brew Babbling Beverage. After talking for a bit, she will ask you how would you use this potion. You have three response options.

Each choice will reward you with five points in a different attribute without affecting the story much, so feel free to pick the option you prefer the most. Similar to the previous one, this task will also require you to earn five stars within one hour. As long as you have full energy prior to starting it, you should have no trouble completing it in time.

There are plenty of actions with the high cost so you shouldn’t have to spend much energy completing this task.

When you are done, hit the Collect button to continue.

You’ll talk to your Prefect some more and then you will drink the potion, which will result in some hilarious lines of dialogue. Then you’ll receive a new task to meet her in the Greenhouse Three. Since there are three hours of waiting time before you can proceed, you can either wait for a bit or spend some gems if you are impatient.

When you get there, she will tell you that she wants to teach you how to tend to Snargaluff, a particularly violent plant. It sure sounds like an exciting task. In order to learn this, you need to earn five stars within three hours. Since all the stars are required to pass, it is somewhat recommended to have full energy before starting it.

Do this like any other story task and you shouldn’t have any trouble.

Now that you are done with this, your Prefect will ask you to meet her in your Common Room a bit later for one last surprise. As before, there are three hours of waiting time before you can continue. When you are able to, proceed to your Common Room to see what this surprise is.

After talking to your Prefect for a while, she will ask if you can guess the reason for all these lessons you had earlier. You have three options to choose from.

The correct answer is the third one, but it requires you to have level seventeen Knowledge attribute. If you need the requirements, it is recommended to pick that one. For all this, you will be rewarded with twenty-five House Points. Not just that, she will promise to put up a good word with the Headmaster and the Head of your House. Who knows, you might become a Prefect one day! This will conclude the quest. Hit the Collect button to claim your rewards.

Now that the side quest is complete, you can resume the main story. Hit the GO button and proceed to the Transfiguration Classroom.

When you get there, you’ll notice Tulip sitting at one of the tables. Your friend will ask what are you planning to do. You have two response options.

You know the saying – A little kindness goes a long way. It is highly recommended to go with the first option as long as your Empathy is at level sixteen or above. After talking to Tulip for a while, you’ll receive a test from her. Apparently, she wants to see if you are worthy of receiving her help. The test involves disarming the dungbomb strapped to her toad’s back. This task requires of you to earn five stars within three hours with one being needed to pass.

Sadly, there are not that many actions with the high cost, but as long as you started with full energy, you shouldn’t expect much trouble with this task.

When you are done, you will find out that Tulip is quite a mischievous student herself. After talking for a while, you’ll learn that she only has one of the keys to your brother’s room, the other one is held by her accomplice. However, she doesn’t trust you enough to tell you who that is yet, so you’ll have to meet her in the Great Hall for your next task.

There is a waiting period of three hours before you can proceed. When you are able to continue, head to the Great Hall to meet with Tulip. She will ask you for a reason to work with you. You have three options to choose from.

Each of the choices will award you with five attribute points, but it will take some more convincing before she is ready to assist you. Tap on the handshake icon to open the task window.

It will display the recommended attribute levels as well as the gold cost of the task. When you are ready, hit the Start button to begin.

This task behaves in a similar manner as Meal With a Friend mini-game. Simply try to be friendly as always, and you shouldn’t have any problems with it. Some of the questions and answers are shown in the pictures below.

Once you are done, hit the Collect button to continue.

Tulip will finally open up to you and you’ll learn that her accomplice is none other than Merula Snyde. After talking some more, you’ll get the next task to meet with her in the Courtyard. There is a waiting period of eight hours before you can continue. When you are able to proceed, go there to meet with her.

When you get there, you’ll notice Merula talking to her associates about the Cursed Vaults. Apparently, they didn’t have much luck with their search. After listening to them for a while, Tulip will ask you if you should get rid of Merula’s cronies before confronting her.

Regardless of your choice, Tulip will explain that it is too risky not to deal with the cronies first since you could all end up in detention. Instead, you will need to help her create the Ultimate Dungbomb which she will use to chase them away. She will give you a list of necessary ingredients and that will conclude the chapter.
