Hello everyone, it’s time for Chapter Eight of Year Three of our Magical Journey Walkthrough for Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery. In the previous chapter, you learned that a famous guest arrived at Hogwarts. It turned out to be none other than Rita Skeeter of the Daily Prophet. Dumbledore granted her a permission to hold a wizarding competition which will determine the most promising witch or wizard. After a series of classes, during which the students demonstrated their magical skills and knowledge, you were the one to announce the winner.

Once the competition was over, Tulip and you went and opened Jacob’s room. Apparently, there was a Boggart inside and it took the form of Voldemort. Both of you run away, terrified, and decided it’s probably the best if you learn the Boggart-Banishing Spell. Luckily, there was a scroll in the library with detailed instructions for learning Riddikulus. Thanks to it, you were able to learn that spell and defeat the Boggart. Afterward, you searched the room and found the note saying that the next vault is most likely somewhere within the library.

As usual, you should focus on completing the lessons part of the chapter first. Hit the GO button and proceed to the Potions Classroom.

In order to unlock Doxycide lesson, you need to earn a total of nine stars from Potions Class. There is a number of different class combination you can take to accomplish this. Simply find the one that suits you the most and when you are ready, hit the Start to begin.

Follow the usual route and you won’t have any trouble with these classes. Complete actions by tapping on the glowing objects. This will fill up the star meter and eventually, you will gain stars.

Keep in mind that after earning each star, you will be given a mini-task. Completing it successfully will award you with ten Knowledge points.

When you are done with the class, hit the Collect button to continue.

Now that the lesson is unlocked, you can head back to the classroom to attend it. To learn Doxycide, you need to earn five stars within three hours. Since all the stars are required to pass, having full energy prior to starting it is highly recommended.

As before, focus on the actions with the high cost to save up some energy.

And as always, complete all of the mini tasks to maximize the attribute points gain.

And lastly, once you obtain all five stars, it’s time to finish your potion. Trace the wand movement in order to complete this action.

Hit the Collect button to claim your rewards and continue.

Now that you’ve done the lessons part of the chapter, you’ll notice that there’s a new side quest available. Hit the GO button and proceed to the Three Broomsticks to meet Bill.

When you arrive, you’ll be able to interact with some of the characters and check out what they have to say by tapping on their speech bubbles.

Afterward, Bill will share with you his love problems. Apparently, he’s obsessed with the girl named Emily Tyler and he wants your advice on the matter. You can choose one of three options to respond with.

It is recommended to select the first answer since it will award you with ten attribute points compared to five you’d receive from the other two options. The outcome is pretty much the same, and your next task will be talking to Bill about Emily over a butterbeer. To complete this task, you need to earn five stars within three hours with one being required to pass.

This task is fairly similar to most of the other story tasks, so you should be able to complete it without a problem. Make sure to slide the screen left and right in order to see all the available actions.

Once you are done with this, your next task will be talking to Emily. There are three hours of waiting time before you are able to proceed.

When you are able to continue, head to the Courtyard to meet Emily. Upon arriving there, you’ll notice that some of the characters have speech bubbles above them. Tapping on those will reveal what they have to say to you.

After talking to Emily for a bit, you’ll get the task to get to know her. Completing it requires you to earn five stars within three hours. Since one star is needed to pass, this should be fairly easy to accomplish.

Similar to the previous one, in this task, you can also slide the screen left and right in order to check out all the available actions. Simply pick the ones with the highest cost and you’ll be done swiftly and easily.

As it turns out, Emily is not particularly fond of Bill. She’ll even say some pretty bad things about him. You can choose to talk back to her or just tell Bill about it.

The first option is preferable since it will award you with ten Empathy points. And not just that, the sheer satisfaction from being able to stand up for your friend makes this choice completely worth it. When you are done, hit the GO button and proceed to the Three Broomsticks to meet with Bill.

Once you arrive, you’ll be able to interact with some of the characters by tapping on their speech bubbles.

Bill will be pretty anxious to find out about your conversation with Emily. You can choose to tell him the truth or soften it a bit.

The second option is preferable as long as your Empathy is level seventeen or above. However, regardless of your choice, Bill will be pretty devastated by this news, so you’ll have to calm him down a bit over a butterbeer. Tap on the handshake icon to open the task window. It will display the recommended attribute levels as well as the gold cost. When you are ready, hit the Start button to begin.

This is fairly similar to the meal with a friend mini-game. You’ll get three responses to each of Bill’s lines and you’ll need to select the right one in order to fill up the diamond meter. Simply be supportive and friendly and you’ll be done with this task before you know it. Below are some of the questions and the answers to them.

When you are done, Bill will feel a bit better, and he’ll thank you for all the things you’ve done for him. This will also conclude the quest and you’ll be able to collect some nice rewards.

Now you can continue the story part of the chapter. Proceed to the library to meet your friends. When you get there, you’ll notice that some of the characters have something to tell you. Tap on their speech bubbles to find out what they have to say.

Once you are done with that, tap on the exclamation mark to join your friends’ conversation. After talking for a while, Penny will ask if you have any ideas on how to find the cursed vault. You can choose one of three options.

The second option is the preferable one since it will give you ten Courage points as long as you meet the attribute requirement. Then, you’ll get the task to search the library. To complete it, you need to earn five stars within three hours. As usual, only one star is required to pass.

Since the library is pretty huge, you can slide the screen left and right in order to look at all the available actions.

When you are done, your character will find a strange note written in a code Jacob used. Upon further examination, Rowan will be able to decode it. It says that the vault is most likely somewhere in the restricted section of the library. Sadly, you can’t go in there without a permission note from a teacher, and since that is not an option, you’ll have to see if Tulip has any ideas how to access it. There is a waiting period of three hours before you are able to proceed.

Once you are able to continue, head for Jacob’s room to meet with Tulip. On your way there, you’ll encounter Merula. She saw you and your friends in the library and she’ll ask if that’s where you think the next Cursed Vault is. You have two response options.

Each choice will award you with five attribute points, but regardless of the option you pick, Merula will throw some taunts your way. When you are done with her, proceed to your brother’s room. Tulip will be there, waiting for you. After talking to her for a while, the two of you will decide to search the room for any other clues that could lead you to the next vault. This task requires you to earn five stars within three hours.

It will take around fifty energy on average to complete this. Assuming you started with full energy, this shouldn’t be much of a problem.

When you are done, you’ll discover a note saying that the book opens a way. You’ll immediately tie it up with the book you found in the previous vault. As for Merula, there seems to be a solution to that problem as well, according to Tulip. She will advise you to persuade Barnaby Lee to join you on your quest for the vaults. This will be your next task. Hit the GO button and proceed to the Great Hall to meet him.

After talking to him for a while, he’ll be curious why do you want his help. You have two options to respond with.

It is recommended to pick the first option if your Empathy is level seventeen or higher. This will award you with ten attribute points while the second option is only worth five. However, no matter which one you select, you’ll have to duel with Barnaby in order to gain his help. There are three hours of waiting time before you can do so.

When you are able to continue, proceed to the Training Grounds. After having a rather funny conversation with him, you’ll decide to start the duel. The window will display the recommended attribute levels as well as the gold cost of each attempt. Once you are ready, hit the Start button to begin.

Most of the times, Barnaby will go with Sneaky stance, so your best bet is to stick with the Aggressive and hit him with Depulso or Incendio.

It will take around three casts to beat him, but keep in mind that he will on some occasions go with Defensive.

Once you manage to beat him, he’ll ask to celebrate this newfound partnership with a butterbeer. To proceed with this task, you’ll have to wait for eight hours or spend some gems in case you are really eager to go on with the story.

Once you are able to continue, head to the Three Broomsticks to meet Barnaby.

After talking for a bit, you’ll receive a task to learn more about Barnaby over a butterbeer. The task window will display the recommended attribute levels and the gold cost. Once you are ready, hit the Start button to begin.

Drinking Butterbeer is fairly similar to Meal with a friend mini-game. You’ll get to choose one of three answers and each of those can increase or decrease the diamond meter by a certain amount. Your attribute scores will also contribute to this. If your attributes are higher than recommended, you’ll fill the diamond meter by two additional points per attribute difference. Similarly, if your attributes are lower than recommended ones, the diamond meter will decrease by two points per attribute difference. Below are some of the questions and the answers for this task.

When you are done with this task, the chapter will be completed. Hit the Collect button to claim your rewards. This will add Barnaby to your list of friends.

You are getting closer to finding the next Cursed Vault. Now that Barnaby is on your side, you got one less thing to worry about. What do you think of this chapter? What were your favorite moments? Did you have any problems in a duel against Barnaby? Let us know in the comments below.
