Once you arrive, you will notice Hagrid looking at a strange set of tracks. You’ll ask him why he wanted to meet with you.
He will point at the tracks on the ground. He’ll tell you he’s been following those hoofprints recently.
He will also say that he trusts you enough to keep this a secret from others. You will nod and ask if there was anything other than the hoofprints he wanted to show you.
Hagrid will say that he just wanted you to take a look at the tracks. He’ll ask if you find them interesting. There are two options to choose from. If you like Hagrid, it is recommended to pick the first option.
You’ll ask if he has any clue about what made the tracks. He’ll have an idea, but he won’t be one hundred percent sure.
He’ll want to investigate it further and see if he was right about it. And since two heads are smarter than one, he will ask if you’ll be willing to help him.
You will agree to help him and you’ll get to pick the reason why you want to do it. If your friendship level with Hagrid is high enough, it is recommended to pick the first option. Otherwise, feel free to go with whichever one you prefer.
Shortly after, you will get to examine the creature’s tracks. To complete this task, you need to earn five stars within three hours. One star is required to pass.
There are two bonus progress actions linked to Hagrid, so prioritize his actions if you are looking to save some energy.
Unfortunately, neither you nor Hagrid will be able to figure out which creature left the tracks.
You will, however, be able to notice that the tracks lead to the Care of Magical Creatures classroom. You will suggest going there to see if you can find any clues.
Hagrid will advise you to be careful since you might be dealing with a very dangerous creature.
He’ll suggest you learn more about magical creatures first. You will nod and agree to prepare properly before following the tracks.
To do that, you will need to reach Magizoologist level 5. This might take a while, depending on the number of magical creatures you’ve adopted. Thankfully, this side quest is not time-limited, so you don’t need to rush it.
Next, proceed to the Care of Magical Creatures to look for the creature.
You will happily inform Hagrid that you’ve prepared for the task ahead. He’ll be glad to hear that, and he’ll tell you that the creature was recently passing through the area.
You’ll ask Hagrid if he could tell you more. However, he will want to be absolutely sure before telling you about it.
You’ll suggest looking around for some clues. This requires earning five stars within three hours. Only one star is needed to pass.
There is a bonus progress action linked to your character. Prioritize it whenever it’s available if you want to save a bit of energy.
You’ll end up finding a tuft of golden fur, and some of the feedbags will be scorched and half-eaten. You will share your findings with Hagrid.
You will quickly figure out there is a high possibility that you’re looking for a Chimaera. According to Hagrid, your assumption is correct.
The following dialogue lines will differ, depending on whether you’ve adopted a Chimaera or not.
Hagrid will admit he always wanted to see one of those creatures. You will suggest he asks Professor Kettleburn to see his Chimaera.
Unfortunately, that won’t really be the option. These lines will differ slightly, depending on your current progress of the main story.
If you’ve already adopted Chimaera, you will agree to show it to Hagrid. Otherwise, he will ask for your help with locating it, and you’ll gladly agree to provide your assistance.
Either way, Hagrid will be overjoyed.
He’ll then ask you to meet with him at the Training Grounds.
Your next task is to adopt the Chimaera. To do that, you will need 50 Red and 25 Blue Notebooks. If you’ve already done that, you will be able to skip this part.
Next, you should proceed to the Training Grounds to meet with Hagrid.
Hagrid will be very happy to see you arriving with the Chimaera. The following lines of dialogue will differ, depending on your trust level with this creature.
Hagrid will advise you on how to deal with it. He’ll say that you need to remind the creature that you are not a threat. According to him, you can achieve that by calling it by its name and giving it a treat.
You will call out your Chimaera by its name and you’ll throw it some food.
The creature will quickly devour the food, and thankfully, it will calm down. You’ll thank Hagrid for his advice.
He’ll ask if he can take a good look at it. You’ll nod in agreement. Needless to say, Hagrid will be incredibly excited about it.
Keeping watch while Hagrid is looking at the Chimaera requires earning five stars within three hours. Since all five stars are needed to pass, avoid starting this task if you are out of energy.
There are actions with bonus progress linked to Hagrid and your character. Focus on those if you are looking to save some energy.
Hagrid will thank you for letting him take a look at your Chimaera. He’ll ask if there’s anything he can do for you in return.
You’ll simply ask him to help you return the Chimaera back to the Magical Creatures Reserve before anyone sees it.
Unfortunately, before you get to finish the sentence, Mr. Filch will arrive. He will be shocked to see the creature at the Training Grounds.
He’ll be more than happy to go straight to the Headmaster and inform him about it. You will ask if there is any chance he could keep it a secret.
He will want a good reason not to report you to Professor Dumbledore. There are three options to choose from. Unfortunately, each of these will end up with the same outcome, so feel free to pick whichever one you prefer.
Shortly after, he will decide to go to the Headmaster’s office. However, Mrs. Norris will be curious about your Chimaera.
He will quickly rush to stop the Chimaera from harming his cat.
Suffice to say, the creature won’t like the caretaker.
You will try to warn him, but he won’t listen to you.
Mr. Filch will quickly grab his cat and say that he’ll go straight to the Headmaster’s office and inform him about this incident.
Hagrid will ask if you have any idea about how to approach the whole situation. After all, if you don’t do anything to defend your Chimaera, you might end up losing it.
Still, you will have faith in the Headmaster to do what’s fair.
You’ll say that you are going to tell him your side of the story and convince him that the Chimaera isn’t a threat to anyone.
Before you can talk to the Headmaster, you will need to reach the max level of trust with the Chimaera. This can take a while, especially if you’ve recently adopted it. Thankfully, this side quest is not time-limited, so you can take your time completing this task.
Once you’ve done that, proceed to the Headmaster’s office. When you arrive, you will notice Filch standing next to the Headmaster, talking to him.
You will ask Professor Dumbledore if you could have a moment of his time. He’ll nod and say that the caretaker just finished telling him about what happened earlier.
Mr. Filch will grin at you and say that he informed the Headmaster about your “evil plan”.
Hagrid will object and say that it is not what happened. You will back him up on that.
Filch will immediately try to speak up, but thankfully, the Headmaster will interrupt him.
He will decide to let Hagrid and you tell your side of the story.
Explaining what happened requires earning five stars within three hours. All five stars are needed to pass which is why you shouldn’t start this task if your energy bar is empty.
There are actions with bonus progress tied to Professor Dumbledore, Mr. Filch, and your character. This will make the task easier to complete.
The Headmaster will sum things up once you’re done explaining what happened.
You will say that you were ready to return the Chimaera back to Magical Creatures Reserve just before the caretaker arrived.
You’ll also mention that Filch wasn’t particularly friendly to the creature. Hagrid will confirm that was the case.
He’ll also say that you managed to safely return the Chimaera back to the Magical Creatures Reserve.
After considering things, the Headmaster will make a decision. Unfortunately, it won’t be the one you’ve been hoping for. He will decide to send the Chimaera away and punish you and Hagrid.
Both Hagrid and you will be shocked to hear that. On the other hand, Mr. Filch will be delighted by this turn of events.
Professor Dumbledore will ask if you understand the reasoning behind his decision. There are two options to reply with. Unfortunately, this choice won’t change the Headmaster’s decision, so feel free to pick either option.
Hagrid will be devastated by this outcome. Unfortunately, there is not much the Headmaster can do about it. He will explain that the Ministry and concerned parents won’t care about your reasons and good intentions.
Also, if they find out there was a deadly creature brought onto school grounds and that those responsible for it weren’t punished, they would use the opportunity to insert themselves into Hogwarts business.
You will ask if he would be willing to change his decision if you could ensure that the Chimaera stays in the Magical Creatures Reserve. Thankfully, Professor Dumbledore will agree to that.
Hagrid will be curious to know what you are planning to do. You will smile cheekily and answer his question.
You will then need to feed your Chimaera.
This should be fairly easy to do. Simply go to the Dark Forest and give the creature some food.
Once you’ve done that, return to the Dark Forest to meet with the Headmaster.
You will thank him for agreeing to give you a chance to prove that the Chimaera won’t pose a threat to anyone.
You’ll inform him that you’ve just finished feeding it, so it is calm and ready for visitors.
Professor Dumbledore will smile and once again confirm that he’s willing to give your Chimaera a chance.
As for Mr. Filch, he also wanted to be there and see if there’s any truth to your words.
You will smile and say you are glad he came. After all, if you could prove to him that the Chimaera isn’t a threat to others, then Professor Dumbledore can easily convince the Ministry and any concerned parents.
Still, the caretaker won’t be easily convinced. However, the Headmaster will calm him down and ask him to give you a chance.
All of you will then get to observe the Chimaera, to figure out if it might pose a threat to others.
To do that, you need to earn five stars within three hours. All five stars are needed to pass, so avoid starting this task if you are out of energy.
There are bonus progress actions tied to the Chimaera, Professor Dumbledore, Mrs. Norris, and your character. Prioritizing these should save you some energy.
When everyone’s done observing the Chimaera, you will smile and say that you hope they can see it won’t pose a threat to others, as long as it is kept fed.
Hagrid will also point out that it only came to the Training Grounds because the two of you lured it there.
Unfortunately, Mr. Filch won’t be convinced. Suddenly, he will notice Mrs. Norris bonding with the Chimaera.
The caretaker will just stand there, completely speechless. You will smile and point out that his cat really likes the Chimaera.
You will wonder if Mr. Filch has changed his mind after seeing that. As it appears, he has… and he will even admit it in his own way.
However, he will still think that both Hagrid and you should be punished for what you did.
You will turn to Professor Dumbledore, curious to hear his opinion on the matter. He will tell you he is going to think about it and summon you to his office once he makes the decision.
Proceed to the Headmaster’s office when you are ready to continue.
When you arrive, you will ask Professor Dumbledore if he’s made the decision about the Chimaera.
He will nod and soon after, you will get to hear it.
This requires earning five stars within three hours. All five stars are needed to pass, so avoid starting this task if your energy bar is empty.
There are actions with bonus progress linked to Hagrid, Professor Dumbledore, and your character, which should make this task easier to complete.
The Headmaster will smile and say that the Chimaera can stay in the Magical Creatures Reserve.
However, you will have to take good care of it, and ensure that it stays there.
Hagrid will happily agree to those terms. You’ll ask Professor Dumbledore about the Ministry and concerned parents.
Thankfully, he should be able to convince them that the Chimaera won’t pose any threat to the students.
You will express your gratitude to him. The Headmaster will remind you that there’s still the matter of your punishment.
Hagrid will be quick to defend you.
He will even ask to be punished in your stead.
Professor Dumbledore will ask if what Hagrid said is true. There are two options to choose from. If you say it is true, Hagrid will be punished instead of you. On the other hand, if you tell him it isn’t true, you will lose 10 House Points. Ultimately, it is up to you to decide.
Both Hagrid and you will be curious to know what sort of punishment awaits you. Thankfully, the Headmaster will be willing to let you off the hook this time.
Hagrid will thank both the Headmaster and you for everything. He will say that he values your friendship greatly.
