Introduction

Hello everyone, welcome to our Walkthrough for The Kelpie Whisperer Side Quest of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. This is a creature-related side quest that will help you improve your friendship with Hagrid. This quest should be available for students of Year 3 Chapter 9 and above.

For this quest, you need to adopt a Kelpie. To do so, you will need Magizoology at level 5, as well as 50 Red, 40 Blue, and 40 Yellow Notebooks. This quest is not time-limited, so there’s no need to rush it. You can do it at your own pace.

Once you start the quest, go to the Lake to meet Hagrid. Once you are there, Hagrid will happily greet you. You’ll wonder what magical creature he wanted to show you.

He’ll mention that it’s somewhere near. Suddenly, a beautiful Kelpie will appear swimming towards you.

You will be surprised and Hagrid will point out that he hardly ever saw such a spirited wild Kelpie.

Hagrid will then introduce you to the Kelpie. For this task, you need to earn five stars within one hour. Three stars are required to pass.

There are bonus progress actions tied to Hagrid and your character. Prioritize these actions to save some energy.

Hagrid will warn you not to think about riding a wild Kelpie because it will try to eat you.

You’ll find out that the previous owner tried to ride Kelpie and he almost got drowned and eaten by it. He later donated his pet to Hogwarts hoping that this creature would find a happier home.

Hagrid will remind you that it is in its nature for Kelpie to be murderous. They are known for trying to lure travelers into riding them.

He will mention that Kelpie would be a fine addition to the Reserve, but currently, it’s too dangerous. He’ll hope that you will form a bond with it and tame it.

Hagrid will mention that if you become a friend of the Kelpie, you may even ride it. He’ll ask you if you think that would be fun. This choice will affect some dialogue later, but it won’t affect the overall story, so feel free to choose an option you prefer.

Hagrid will conclude that if you ride the Kelpie, that would mean that it is tamed for sure and it can stay at Hogwarts.

You and Hagrid will agree that the first step toward your goal is to learn more about this specie of magical creatures and to become a Kelpie expert. The following lines of dialogue may differ based on whether you already adopted Kelpie or not.

Your next task is to adopt the Kelpie. To adopt it, you will need 50 Red, 40 Blue, and 40 Yellow Notebooks, and your Magizoology level should be at level 5. If you’ve already done that, you will be able to skip this part.

Tonks will be interested to study Kelpies with you and she’ll invite you to Lakeshore to study together. Go there when you are ready.

Once you are there, Tonks will greet you and you’ll find out she is very interested in Kelpies. Surprisingly enough, the wild Kelpie will appear as well.

You will wonder how it moved from Reserve to Black Lake. Tonks will guess that the water may be connected to the reserve. Although it is a good thing for the creature to have a lot of room to roam, it is even greater potential for danger, so you have to tame it.

Tonks will tell you that Hagrid warned her not to ride a wild Kelpie. She’ll comment that that is a shame because it would be brilliant if you could ride it. Your reaction to this will differ based on your previous choice.

You will tell Tonks that Hagrid said if you could ride a Kelpie, it would mean solid proof that it is tamed. Tonks brought every book about Kelpies she could find and she’ll hope that there must be something that could help you.

To complete the next task, you need to earn five stars within three hours. All five stars are required to pass.

Bonus progress actions are tied to Tonks, your character, and the pile of books near Tonks. Prioritize these actions to save some energy.

After some studying, Tonks will ask you if you understand what you need to do to tame the Kelpie. The correct answer is “Put a bridle on it”.

Tonks will explain that if you place a bridle on the Kelpie, you’ll render it harmless, and it won’t try to drown anyone.

You will propose that you make a special bridle for this Kelpie and you’ll think that your friend Andre Egwu can help you with that.

Go to the Boathouse to meet Andre when you are ready. You will find Andre very excited about creating a bridle for the Kelpie.

He’ll confirm that he nearly completed a bridle that is both sturdy and stylish but he has one problem. He’ll need to check if the bridle is fitted properly to ensure maximum comfort for both Kelpie and the rider but he won’t know how to get a closer look.

You will call Kelpie so Andre can check its measurements.

You’ll advise Andre not to touch Kelpie. You will, however, say he can look and measure.

To complete the next task, you need to earn five stars within eight hours. Three stars are required to pass.

There are quite a few bonus progress actions for this task.

A few moments later, Andre will finish the bridle. He will show it to you and ask for your opinion. If you like Andre, it is recommended to pick the first option.

You will try to put the bridle on Kelpie, but Kelpie will run away.

You will thank Andre for his fashion emergency help and you’ll decide to visit Hagrid to ask him for advice.

Before you continue with the story, you need to reach level 4 of Trust with your Kelpie, if you haven’t already. If it’s already level 4 or above, this task will be skipped.

When you are ready, visit Hagrid at the Lakeshore. Once you are there, Hagrid will be curious about your progress. You will quickly update him on the situation.

Hagrid will agree with you that trying to put a bridle on Kelpie could be dangerous. He will offer to brainstorm new ideas on what to do next.

For the next task, you need to earn five stars within one hour. All five stars are required to pass.

Sadly, there are no bonus progress actions for this task.

Hagrid will advise you to seek help from someone with more experience with Kelpies. He’ll mention that there might be a Kelpie in one of the Clubhouses and he will ask do you remember in which one. The correct answer is “The Hippogriff Club”.

Because there is one Kelpie in the Hippogriff Club, there might be someone there who can help you. The following line of dialogue will differ based on your experience level with the Hippogriff Club.

You’ll decide to go there next and Hagrid will wish you luck. Go to the Clubhouse when you are ready.

Once you are there, you will meet your friends and thank them for the meeting. You’ll find out that helping a magical creature is one of the core tenets of this club.

Your friends will admire Kelpies and Penny will ask you what you like the most in Keplies. This choice won’t have a significant impact on the story, so feel free to choose the option you like.

Penny will mention that their Kelpie is not wearing any bridle and you will notice that their Kelpie is more gentle than yours.

Penny will guess that’s because it’s been tamed for so long and that may be the case with your Kelpie as well one day. For now, Penny will propose digging old club records to find out if there’s anything helpful.

To complete this task, you need to earn five stars within eight hours. All five stars are required to pass.

Bonus progress actions are tied to Barnaby, Penny, Tonks, and a pile of books. Prioritize these actions to save some energy. Slide the screen left and right to check all the available options.

After extensive research, you and your friends will learn that Hippogriff members in the past used to cast Placement Charm to bridle the Kelpie.

You’ll decide to ask the best expert on charms: Professor Flitwick. Go to the Charms Classroom when you are ready to continue.

You will explain to Professor Flitwick why you need to learn Placement Charm. Luckily, he will agree to help you.

He will point out that you should watch him closely while you learn because, although it’s a simple spell, you must be precise to get it right.

To learn this spell, you need to earn five stars within three hours. All five stars are required to pass.

Actions with bonus progress are tied to your character and hat behind Professor Flitwick.

When you are done, you will see the result of your learning.

The Professor will think that you are ready to cast the Placement Charm on your Kelpie. Before you leave his classroom, he will ask you what drives you to tame it.

This choice won’t impact the overall story, so feel free to choose the option you like. If you pick the third option, you may get some lines of dialogue that referred to your previous choice.

Professor Flitwick will wish you luck. He will point out that putting a bridle on Kelpie is just a part of taming it. The most important part is to have a special bond of friendship with the creature.

The following lines of dialogue may differ based on whether you have a max level of Trust with your Kelpie or not.

The professor will tell you to inform him when you plan to tame the Kelpie so he can witness such an event.

Your next task would be to reach the max level of trust with your Kelpie if you haven’t already. If it’s already at the max level, this task will be skipped.

Go to the Lakeshore when you are ready to tame the Kelpie. If you want to hear what your friends have to say, you can tap the speech bubbles above their heads.

Once you are there, Hagrid will greet you and tell you that everybody is excited to see you tame the Kelpie. You will point out that if you manage to put the bridle on it, you’ll know that Kelpie will be safe and happy at Hogwarts.

On the other hand, if you fail, it might eat you. Hagrid will reassure you that won’t happen.

Afterward, Hagrid will ask you how you feel about your chances to tame the Keplie. Feel free to choose the option you like.
