Walkthrough

You will wonder why Hagrid wanted to see you. He will tell you that a certain magical creature needs your help. Moments later, a Dugbog will come out of hiding.

a dugbogs delight 009

You will be pleasantly surprised to see this adorable creature. Hagrid will say that he’s been hiding the Dugbog from Professor Sprout for some time. You will wonder why he was doing that.

He’ll decide to tell you the whole story. Learning what happened requires earning five stars within one hour. All five stars are needed to pass, so avoid starting this task if you are low on energy.

a dugbogs delight 019

There are bonus progress actions tied to Hagrid and the Dugbog. Focus on those if you want to save a bit of energy.

a dugbogs delight 024

You will learn that Professor Sprout wants to banish the Dugbog from Hogwarts for eating her Mandrakes. As it seems, the creature ate her whole supply three times.

Hagrid will be curious to know your opinion on the matter. There are two options to reply with. If you like Hagrid, it is recommended to pick the first option.

a dugbogs delight 037

You will wonder if there is a way to avoid having the Dugbog banished. Hagrid will be hopeful that Professor Sprout will at least agree to meet the Dugbog. He will ask you to keep an eye on the creature while he goes to talk to Professor Sprout.

a dugbogs delight 047

You will look forward to looking after the Dugbog. Hagrid will suggest that you introduce the creature to Liz and her pet frog, Sir Ribbithe.

You’ll like his idea. Before leaving, Hagrid will ask you to keep the Dugbog safe and away from the Mandrakes. He’ll advise you to take the creature to the lakeshore.

a dugbogs delight 057

You will tell him that he can count on you.

You will have to unlock the Dugbog before you can continue the story. In order to do that, you will need 60 Red, 30 Blue, and 15 Yellow Notebooks. Also, you’ll need your Magizoology at level 7 or above in order to adopt this creature.

Since this side quest is not time-limited, you don’t need to rush it. Simply take time to collect the notebooks, and feel free to do it at your own pace.

a dugbogs delight 064

Proceed to the Lakeshore when you are ready to continue. You will thank Liz for agreeing to look after the Dugbog with you. She’ll say that she’s always eager to help when it comes to magical creatures.

She’ll then ask if you think Hagrid and Professor Sprout will come to an agreement. There are two options to reply with. This choice won’t heavily impact the story, so feel free to go with the option you prefer.

a dugbogs delight 076

Shortly after, the two of you will decide to brainstorm a plan to help the Dugbog in case Hagrid fails to convince Professor Sprout.

Coming up with a backup plan requires earning five stars within three hours. Three stars are needed to pass.

a dugbogs delight 086

There are bonus progress actions tied to Liz and your character. Prioritize those if you want to save some energy.

a dugbogs delight 095

You will figure out you need to convince Professor Sprout that the Dugbog will pose no threat to her Mandrakes. Suddenly, Sir Ribbithe will approach the Dugbog.

a dugbogs delight 116

The creature will look at the frog curiously.

a dugbogs delight 117

Liz will tell Sir Ribbithe to stay away from the Dugbog. She will rush to pick up her frog. However, the Dugbog will feel threatened by her and will bite her ankle before hiding behind the tree stump.

a dugbogs delight 119

You’ll ask Liz if she is all right. Luckily, she won’t end up getting any serious injury. She will say that the Dugbog probably only wanted to warn her.

a dugbogs delight 128

You’ll say that you are glad Professor Sprout didn’t see it happen. Liz will point out that the Dugbog is clearly an intelligent creature because it can communicate via a bite. The problem is that it’s not very well-behaved.

That will give you an interesting idea. You’ll suggest training the Dugbog to stay away from the Mandrakes.

a dugbogs delight 135

Liz will like your idea. You’ll decide to take the creature to Professor Kettleburn and see if he can help you train it. Proceed to Care of Magical Creatures when you are ready.

You will tell Professor Kettleburn that a magical creature needs his help. He will wonder what kind of magical creature it is. You’ll smile and introduce the Dugbog to him.

a dugbogs delight 151

You will tell the Professor about the problem involving the Dugbog and the Mandrakes. Professor Kettleburn will ask if there is anything he can do to help. You’ll tell him about your plan to train the Dugbog.

The Professor will be curious why you are so determined to help the creature. There are three options to reply with. If you like Hagrid, it is somewhat recommended to pick the first option.

a dugbogs delight 163

Thankfully, Professor Kettleburn will agree to help you train the Dugbog. He will suggest brainstorming some new tricks that the creature could learn.

Brainstorming tricks requires earning five stars within three hours. All five stars are needed to pass, so avoid starting this task if you are low on energy.

a dugbogs delight 173

There are bonus progress actions tied to Professor Kettleburn and the Dugbog. Prioritize those if you want to save some energy.

a dugbogs delight 176

In the end, you will settle upon three different tricks.

a dugbogs delight 191

Professor Kettleburn will say that training the Dugbog won’t be an easy task. He will agree to give you some pointers, but you will still need to bond with the creature and gain its trust.

You will need to reach Trust Level 3 with the Dugbog before you can continue. Since this side quest is not time-limited, you can take as long as you want to complete it.

a dugbogs delight 199

Once you are done, proceed to the forest to train the Dugbog. Both you and Liz will be quite confident that you’ll be able to train the creature.

Shortly after, you will start the training. Training the Dugbog requires earning five stars within eight hours. Three stars are needed to pass.

a dugbogs delight 210

There are bonus progress actions linked to Liz, your character, and the Dugbog, which should make this task easier to complete.

a dugbogs delight 216

Luckily enough, the Dugbog will prove to be a fast learner. Liz will wonder which one of the tricks Professor Sprout will love the most.

There are three options to choose from. This choice won’t significantly impact the story, so feel free to go with whichever option you prefer.

a dugbogs delight 243

Moments later, Professor Sprout will show up. She will say that Hagrid managed to convince her to get to know the Dugbog before deciding what to do about the problem.

She will wonder if there is anything you wanted to show her. You will start by asking the Dugbog to come to you. The creature will follow your instructions and come closer.

a dugbogs delight 259

Professor Sprout won’t be too impressed with that trick. You will then ask the creature to roll over. The Dugbog will follow your command and roll over in a completely adorable way.

a dugbogs delight 270

Professor Sprout will be impressed by the trick.

a dugbogs delight 277

However, there is still a matter of her Mandrakes. You’ll say there’s another trick you want to show her. You’ll place some creature food on the ground and ask the Dugbog to stay.

a dugbogs delight 282

Interestingly enough, the creature will stand still and completely ignore the food you placed in front of it.

Before deciding whether the Dugbog can stay at Hogwarts or not, Professor Sprout will decide to test it by placing some Mandrake pieces in front of it.

She will place them on the ground in front of the creature. Once again, you will ask the Dugbog to stay.

a dugbogs delight 290

Unfortunately, the creature won’t be able to resist the Mandrake pieces and will start eating them.

a dugbogs delight 293

Liz will be disappointed to see that happen. Professor Sprout will admit that you and Liz did a good job training the Dugbog. Sadly, she won’t be able to guard the Mandrakes all the time.

You will ask her to give you a little more time. Professor Sprout will say that she simply cannot allow the Dugbog to stay at Hogwarts.

a dugbogs delight 299

Suddenly, the creature will run away.

a dugbogs delight 301

The Professor will assume that the Dugbog is heading for her Mandrakes, so she will run after it.

a dugbogs delight 304

Liz will ask if you want to follow them. You will figure out that the Dugbog simply decided to hide for a while.

a dugbogs delight 306

You’ll suggest going back to Hagrid’s hut. Proceed there when you are ready to continue. The Dugbog will be in Hagrid’s place, just as you assumed.

Hagrid will ask you to tell him what happened with Professor Sprout. Filling in Hagrid requires earning five stars within three hours. All five stars are needed to pass, which is why you shouldn’t start this task if your energy bar is empty.

a dugbogs delight 322

There are bonus progress actions tied to your character and the woodpile. Focus on those if you want to save some energy.

a dugbogs delight 330

The Dugbog will eventually come out of hiding.

a dugbogs delight 342

Despite the fact that your plan to convince Professor Sprout didn’t work out, you will feel happy that the creature trusts you.

Hagrid will ask why things didn’t work out with Professor Sprout. There are three options to reply with. The real reason was that the Mandrakes are irresistible to the Dugbog.

a dugbogs delight 348

Hagrid will point out that you cannot simply change the creature’s nature by teaching it some new tricks. You will wonder if there is anything you can do so that the Dugbog doesn’t get banished from Hogwarts.

Liz will suggest protecting the Mandrakes in shifts. That will give you an interesting idea. You will figure out there is something you can do about the Mandrakes.

a dugbogs delight 359

Hagrid will be curious about what you are going to do. You’ll suggest casting the Shield Charm on the Mandrakes. That way, the Dugbog won’t be able to get close to them and it will be bounced back by magic.

Liz will like the idea. Hagrid will tell you that you need to ask Professor Sprout for permission to cast the spell on her Mandrakes.

a dugbogs delight 364

You’ll also need to bring the Dugbog along, to demonstrate the plan. Other than that, Hagrid will suggest you spend some time with the Dugbog and gain its trust before going back to Professor Sprout.

You will need to reach Trist Level 7 with the Dugbog before you can continue. Since this side quest is not time-limited, you can take as long as you need to finish this task.

a dugbogs delight 373

Once you are done, proceed to the Herbology classroom to demonstrate your plan. Professor Sprout will inform you that the Dugbog didn’t eat her Mandrakes.

You’ll tell her that you brought the creature with you. Professor Sprout will be surprised to hear that.

a dugbogs delight 387

You’ll tell her that you have a plan to protect her Mandrakes. Explaining your plan requires earning five stars within three hours. Since all five stars are needed to pass, you should avoid starting this task if you are low on energy.

a dugbogs delight 394

There is a bonus progress action tied to your character, so focusing on your actions should save you a bit of energy.

a dugbogs delight 405

You’ll say that you plan to protect the Mandrakes using the Shield Charm. That way, the Dugbog won’t be able to reach them, and there won’t be any need to banish it from Hogwarts. Professor Sprout will be touched by your dedication.

a dugbogs delight 418

She’ll also say that she enjoyed watching the Dugbog’s tricks.

a dugbogs delight 420

Liz will ask the creature to roll over.

a dugbogs delight 424

The Professor will say that she didn’t mean to be cruel by removing the Dugbog from Hogwarts. She’ll explain that she simply needed a way to protect her Mandrakes. You will ask for her permission to use the Shield Charm on the Mandrakes.

The Professor will want to be sure that you are familiar with the spell before letting you cast it. She’ll ask you a question about the Shield Charm. There are three options to answer with. The correct answer is ‘A charm’.

a dugbogs delight 431

You will get permission to cast Protego on the Mandrakes. You’ll take out your wand and prepare to cast the spell. Trace the wand movement to cast the Shield Charm.

a dugbogs delight 439

The spell will work, and the protective shield will form around the Mandrakes.

a dugbogs delight 443

Professor Sprout will ask you to tell the Dugbog to stay. You will tell the creature to stay still.

a dugbogs delight 446

Unfortunately, the Dugbog won’t be able to resist the Mandrakes, but thanks to the Shield Charm, it won’t be able to reach them.

a dugbogs delight 448

You will be glad that your plan worked. Professor Sprout will also be happy about it. She’ll even decide to give a few Mandrake pieces to the Dugbog.

a dugbogs delight 455

You will thank her for being so kind. You’ll ask if that means she’ll allow the Dugbog to stay at Hogwarts. Professor Sprout will nod and say that the creature is welcome to stay.

a dugbogs delight 458

She’ll even say that she might visit it occasionally in the Magical Creatures Reserve. You’ll decide to meet with Hagrid and tell him the good news. Head to the lakeshore once you are ready to continue.

You’ll happily greet Hagrid and say that you have good news for him. He’ll ask if Professor Sprout agreed to let you cast the Shield Charm on her Mandrakes. You will nod and say that the Dugbog can stay at Hogwarts.

Hagrid will be incredibly glad to hear that.

a dugbogs delight 474

He will point out how happy the Dugbog is.

a dugbogs delight 476
a dugbogs delight 478

You will tell him that Professor Sprout said she will visit the creature from time to time. You’ll suggest teaching the Dugbog one more trick, as a surprise for Professor Sprout.

You will then get to brainstorm the final trick. This requires earning five stars within eight hours. Three stars are needed to pass.

a dugbogs delight 485

There are bonus progress actions tied to Liz and your character. Prioritize those if you are looking to save some energy.

a dugbogs delight 500

The trick you’ll settle upon will be to have the Dugbog take a bow. The creature will perform the trick in a completely adorable way.

a dugbogs delight 517

You’ll admit that you are going to miss spending time with the Dugbog. Hagrid will thank you for everything you’ve done.

Liz will wonder if you knew that the plan will work all along. There are two options to reply with. This choice won’t significantly impact the story, so feel free to go with the option you prefer.

a dugbogs delight 524

Shortly after, you will say goodbye to the Dugbog.

a dugbogs delight 533

Hagrid will be very happy with the way things played out.

a dugbogs delight 538

The Dugbog will roll over one more time before allowing you to gently pet its head.
