Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery
Hello everyone, it’s time for Chapter Twelve of Year Five of our Magical Journey Walkthrough for Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery. Last time, you met Mundungus Fletcher in the Three Broomsticks. After questioning him about the Marauder’s Map, you learned that he was attacked by someone who apparently stole it from him. However, being as he is, he asked you to procure some hard-to-find items for him in order to tell you the whole story. So, you decided to play along and went to gather those items. After managing to obtain everything he requested, you went to the Knockturn Alley with Madam Rakepick and Merula and talked to him once again. He revealed that the one who attacked him and stole the map somehow transformed into something before he ran off. According to him, the attacker returned the map to Hogwarts.
As for now, you can kick things off by doing the lessons part of the chapter first. Hit the GO button and proceed to the Charms Classroom when you are ready.
Unlocking the Locomotor Mortis will require you to earn a total of nine stars from Charms classes. Pick the combination of classes suitable to your liking and press the Start button to begin.
While doing these, stick to the usual routine. Focus on doing the actions with 5 cost whenever they are available and this way you’ll be able to save up some energy.
Also, try your best to complete all of the mini-tasks in order to gain some additional Empathy points.
Once you obtain enough stars, head back to the classroom to attend the lesson.
To learn the Leg-Locker Curse, you need to earn five stars within three hours. Since all of the stars are needed to pass, it is recommended to have full energy prior to starting the lesson.
Do it just like the regular classes and you shouldn’t have any trouble with it.
Once you earn the fifth star, you’ll be tasked with casting the spell.
If you are successful, you’ll witness a funny scene in which your character uses the spell on Rowan.
You can now proceed to the Herbology classroom for the second lesson of the chapter.
In order to unlock the Dittany lesson, you need to earn nine stars from the Herbology classes. Simply pick the combination of classes that is suitable the most for your playstyle and hit the Start button to begin.
You can do these just like any of the previous classes. Simply place your focus on the high-cost actions.
And use every opportunity to obtain some additional Empathy points by doing the mini-tasks successfully.
Once the lesson is unlocked, head back to the Herbology Classroom.
Learning the Dittany lesson is a three-hour task with a passing requirement of five stars. Because of this, you should avoid having an empty energy bar prior to starting it.
Other than the passing requirement, there isn’t much that differs between this lesson and any of the regular classes, so treat it as such and you’ll be done quickly and easily.
As usual, once you reach the fifth star, you’ll be tasked with Fertilizing your plant. Trace the path on the screen to do so.
Now that the lessons are out of the way, you can move on with the story. Hit the GO button and proceed to the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom.
Immediately upon arriving, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of your classmates. Tap on those if you are interested to see what they have to say to you.
After asking Madam Rakepick about Fletcher’s attacker, she’ll tell you that she cannot share this information with you for your own good. You have two options to respond with. Both of them lead to the same outcome, so pick the one you prefer the most.
She will, however, be willing to discuss some important matters with you when the class is over.
To complete this class, you need to earn five stars within three hours. Only one star is needed to pass, which should make things a lot easier.
Since the only reward for this task are coins, and there is no waiting time before the next one, you might as well consider getting a couple of stars and then letting the task expire. This way, you will have a full energy bar before the next task, which should save you some time.
Once the class is over, Madam Rakepick will tell you that there is a certain portrait which could be far more important than Marauder’s Map. It’s a portrait of a Cursed Vault.
For your next task, you should go to the Grand Staircase and meet Badeea.
She will suggest talking to other portraits and asking if any of them know of a Cursed Vault portrait.
She’ll also ask for your opinion on the things Rakepick said about the vault portrait. You can respond in three different ways. Each option will give you five attribute points without any significant alterations on the outcome, so pick the one you deem the most appropriate for your character’s personality.
Talking to portraits is an hour-long task, requiring you to earn one out of five stars in order to pass.
Since there isn’t any waiting time before the next task, you can also earn a minimum requirement here and then let the task expire. This way, you can save quite some energy, which will make the further task much easier. The only downside is that you won’t get some coins and a bit of experience, but the amount is quite insignificant compared to the energy you’ll be able to save.
Sadly, you won’t be able to find out much from the other portraits. The only thing you’ll be able to deduce is that Beatrice knows something, but you have to find a way to somehow communicate with her.
Shortly after, you’ll decide to meet your friends in the Library and discuss the situation with them, so proceed there when you are ready.
Once you get there, you’ll be able to interact with some of the characters by tapping on their speech bubbles.
You’ll then inform your friends about the vault portrait and ask for their help.
Once you tell them that Rakepick informed you about it, some of them will be quite skeptical about the whole thing.
This will eventually escalate into a heated argument between some of your friends.
Thankfully, Barnaby will manage to calm everyone down before the things get out of hand.
Rowan will then apologize for the things he said and you’ll be able to respond in three different ways. If you care about Rowan, it is highly recommended to select the second option, as long as your friendship level is ten. Otherwise, he’ll end up hurt.
Shortly after, you’ll get the task to research the vault portrait. Completing it requires earning five stars within three hours. Passing, on the other hand, only requires one.
Do this in a similar manner to any of the other story tasks and you shouldn’t encounter any problems.
Sadly, the search didn’t bear any success, so you’ll have to look for it elsewhere.
Jae will suggest that you talk to the Elves and see if any of them know something that could help.
Proceed to the Kitchens when you are ready.
When you get there, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the House Elves. Tap on those if you want to see what they have to say.
After that, you’ll get to choose which of them to talk to. You have three options to choose from. There will be some minor differences, depending on your choice, but the general outcome of the story won’t be affected.
You’ll then get the task to talk to House-Elves. To complete it, you need to earn at least one out of five stars within three hours.
Since there is a waiting time before the next task, it is recommended to complete this one fully. You’ll need around sixty energy to do so, depending on the actions you take.
When you are done, you will learn that someone asked one of the elves about the vault portrait. And that someone was Gryffindor.
The next logical place to look will be Gryffindor Common Room. However, there is a waiting period of three hours before you can continue. Either wait for a while or spend some gems to speed up the process in case you are impatient.
Once the waiting time is over, hit the GO button and proceed to Gryffindor Common Room.
Upon arriving, you’ll be tasked with casting Lumos to make the search easier.
Searching for Vault Portrait is an eight-hour task with the passing requirement of one out of five stars.
Do it just like any other story task and you shouldn’t have any problems to complete it in time. There are several 5 cost actions which should make this task a lot easier.
However, once you’re done, Percy will arrive and being as he is, he’ll want to report you for using magic outside of class. However, he knows that you are friends with Bill and Charlie, so he will wonder what to do with you. You have three options to respond with. Each will lead to the same outcome, so you can feel free to pick the one you find the most appropriate for the situation.
In the end, you will offer him your help with finding Scabbers in exchange for his silence.
For the next task, you need to visit Hagrid and see if he’ll be willing to lend you Fang for a while. Proceed to his hut when you are ready.
Once you get there, you’ll tell Hagrid you need a favor. He will misinterpret your intentions and think you’re asking him for a romance advice. You can reply in three different ways. If you select the first option, you will clear the misunderstanding, but you will miss out some really funny dialogue lines, so it is recommended to select either second or the third option.
You’ll then ask Hagrid if he would be kind enough to let you borrow Fang for a while in order to track down Scabbers.
He will be reluctant at first, so, you’ll need to explain your plan to him. This is a three-hour task which requires you to earn five stars within three hours. Only one star is needed to pass, so it shouldn’t be too difficult.
There are some 5 cost actions tied to Jae and Fang, so make sure to complete them as often as possible in order to save some energy.
Once you are done, Hagrid will agree to borrow Fang to you.
Shortly after, the chapter will conclude. Hit the Collect button to claim your rewards.
But where did Scabbers go? Will you manage to find him with the help of Fang? Find out in the next Chapter of this exciting adventure!
Thank you for reading. Until next time.
