Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery
Hello everyone, it’s time for Chapter Seventeen of Year Five of our Magical Journey Walkthrough for Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery. In the previous chapter, you did some preparation and practice in order to face Madam Rakepick and ask her about Jacob. However, once you eventually did so, she shattered your wand in order to teach you a lesson. Thankfully, you were provided with a temporary wand until you can get a proper replacement.
Now, you can start things off by completing the lessons. Proceed to the Transfiguration Classroom when you are ready.
Unlocking Switch: Top Hat & Rabbit Lesson requires earning a total of nine stars from Transfiguration Class. Choose a combination of classes suitable to your liking and hit the Start button to begin.
Unlike most of the other classes, 5 cost actions are fairly scarce here, so focus on completing them whenever they appear.
And as usual, try to successfully complete as many mini-tasks as possible to earn some additional Knowledge points.
After you obtain all the stars necessary for unlocking the lesson, head back to the classroom to attend it.
To learn the Switch: Top Hat & Rabbit, you need to get five stars within three hours. All of the stars are required to pass, so avoid starting the lesson if your energy bar is low.
In total, you’ll need around sixty energy or so to complete it, which equates to about one and a half energy bar.
Upon earning the fifth star, you’ll be tasked with casting this transfiguration. Trace the wand movement on the screen to cast the spell.
Head to the Defence Against the Dark Arts Classroom for your second lesson of the chapter.
To unlock Fumos lesson, you need to acquire nine stars from Defence Against the Dark Arts. As before, pick whichever combination of classes suits your playstyle and hit the Start to begin.
Thankfully, 5 cost actions are plentiful here, so you’ll be able to save some energy by doing them.
Needless to say, try completing all of the mini-tasks for some extra Courage points.
Once you collect all nine stars, you can return to the classroom.
Learning the Smokescreen Spell is a three-hour long task with a passing requirement of five stars.
Treat this lesson similarly to the previous classes and you’ll be done quickly and easily.
After obtaining all of the stars, you’ll be tasked with performing the spell. Trace the wand movement on the screen to cast Fumos.
The spell will work and the cloud of smoke will appear around your character.
Now that you’ve done the lessons, you can proceed with the story. Head to the Ollivanders when you are ready.
Mr. Ollivander will greet you upon your arrival. You’ll also notice that Madam Rakepick is there as well.
After talking for a while, he will present three different wands to you.
The first one is an eleven-and-a-quarter inch ebony wand with a dragon heartstring core.
Next, an eleven-inch redwood wand with a unicorn hair core.
And last, but not the least, a twelve-inch laurel wand with a phoenix feather core.
Your character will be pretty excited about getting a new wand.
Shortly after, you’ll get the task to talk with Ollivander about those wands and see which one would suit you best. To complete it, you need to earn five stars within an hour. Passing requires only one star.
In total, you will need around 35 energy to finish this one. However, since there is no waiting time before the next task, you might want to consider earning one star and letting the timer expire. This way, you’ll save around twenty energy or so. The only downside is that you’ll earn slightly less experience, but it is a neglectable amount, so if you are looking to complete the chapter faster, you might want to consider this option.
Either way, when you are done, you’ll get to choose which wand you prefer. Each option corresponds to one of the wands. The first one is for the ebony wand, the second is for the redwood wand and the third option is for the laurel wand.
You’ll then give it a try to see if the wand is suited for you.
Apparently, the wand is a perfect match!
Shortly after, Madam Rakepick will suggest that you visit Mundungus Fletcher once again.
Proceed to the Knockturn Alley when you are ready.
As you arrive, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the alley’s denizens. Tap on those if you want to see what they have to say.
Fletcher will comment on your new wand as soon as you approach him.
After talking for some time, you’ll get to interrogate him. This task requires you to earn five stars within three hours with one star being required to pass.
You should focus on completing this task entirely, regardless of its passing requirement. The reason for this is because there is a waiting period before the next task is available, so you want to trigger it as soon as possible.
When you are done, Fletcher will admit what really happened.
Madam Rakepick will then ask if you believe this story. You have three options to choose from. There are some minor dialogue differences, but the general outcome is the same, so feel free to pick the choice you prefer.
Not long after that, she will give you your next assignment.
As said before, there is a waiting period of three hours before you are able to proceed.
Once you are able to continue, head to the Hog’s Head Inn to meet Aberforth.
Upon arriving, you’ll see some familiar faces. You can interact with them by tapping on their speech bubbles.
After that, you’ll be greeted by Aberforth Dumbledore, the owner of the establishment. He’ll ask for your opinion of the place. You have three options to choose from. All of them will lead to the same outcome, so feel free to select the one you prefer.
After talking for a while, you’ll get to ask around about Fletcher. This is a three-hour task which requires you to earn at least one out of five stars to pass.
Do this just like any other story task and you should be done in no time. Keep in mind that you can save some energy by earning only a few stars and then letting the task expire.
Either way, when you are finished, Aberforth will give you a letter his brother left for you.
Your next task involves visiting the Headmaster’s office. Proceed there when you are ready.
Once you arrive, you’ll notice that Professor Snape is also there.
As usual, you’ll have to wait patiently before Dumbledore is ready to speak with you. To do that, you need to obtain five stars within eight hours. The passing requirement is one star.
You will need about one hundred energy to complete this task, which is around two and a half energy bars.
When you are finished, the Headmaster will reveal some shocking information to you.
He’ll then tell you that he wants you to learn to control this ability under the tutelage of Professor Snape.
Shortly after that, the chapter will come to an end. Hit the Collect button to claim your rewards.
This is quite the shocking revelation. Learning this ability is definitely going to pose a challenge. But just how difficult will it be to master it? And will Professor Snape have patience teaching you? Find out in the next chapter of this adventure.
