Hello everyone, welcome to our Walkthrough for Chapter Twenty-Eight of Year Five of Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery. Last time, you gave the vault portrait to Madam Rakepick and found out that the dragon is most likely guarding the next cursed vault. Because of that, you tried your best to learn as much as you could about those creatures. Both Bill and Merula helped you, and together, you managed to prepare properly for facing the dangers of the next cursed vault.

You can start things off by getting the lessons out of the way. Head to the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom when you are ready.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

To unlock the Homenum Revelio Lesson, you need to acquire a total of nine stars from Defence Against Dark Arts classes. As always, pick the ones most suitable to your playstyle and hit the Start to begin.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

In general, there should be plenty of 5 cost actions during these classes. Prioritize those in order to save some energy.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

As usual, focus on completing the mini-tasks to earn some additional Courage points.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

Head back to the classroom once you have enough stars to unlock the lesson.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

To learn Homenum Revelio, you need to obtain five stars within three hours. Since all of the stars are needed to pass, it is recommended to avoid starting this with an empty energy bar.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

Altogether, you should be able to finish this lesson with around 60 energy or so.

Eventually, you’ll be tasked with casting the spell. Trace the wand movement on the screen to do so.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

If you are successful, the spell will reveal Ismelda. There is no doubt that this will come in handy on one of your future adventures.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

For your second lesson, proceed to the History of Magic classroom.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

To unlock the Werewolf Code of Conduct of 1637 lesson, you need to earn nine stars from History of Magic classes. Like before, pick the classes you prefer and hit the Start to begin.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

As always, prioritize 5 cost actions whenever they are available.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

And give it your best to succeed at all the mini-tasks for some extra Knowledge points.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

Once you obtain all nine stars, head back to the classroom to attend the lesson.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

Learning about the Werewolf Code of Conduct of 1637 requires earning five stars within eight hours.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

Approach this lesson in a similar manner to the previous classes and you shouldn’t have any trouble completing it within the time limit.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28 Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

Now that you’re done with the lessons, you can focus on the story part of the chapter. Proceed to the Hog’s Head Inn to meet Merula.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

Upon arriving, you can check out what some of the characters have to say to you before continuing.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

Merula will be surprised to see that you’re recognized here by many of the patrons and she’ll be curious to know if you visit this place often. You have three options to respond with. She’ll react differently depending on your answer, but in general, it won’t have any significant influence on the story, so pick whichever option you like.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

Apparently, Merula doesn’t want others to see you two together, which is why she picked this particular meeting place.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

And it looks like she wants to talk to you about the Cursed Vault.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

Since she was never actually in any of the vaults, she wants to learn as much as possible from you. She even got a notebook and a quill to write down the details.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28 Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

There are two ways you can react to this, you can either taunt her or console her. If you like Merula, it is recommended to go with the second option, otherwise, go with either one.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

Shortly after, you’ll offer to train her to face the cursed vault. Naturally, she’ll find that funny at first.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

Which is why you’ll need to explain things to her. This requires earning at least one out of five stars within three hours to pass.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

It’ll take around 60 energy to fully complete this task, which should be about one and a half energy bar.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

Once you are done, she’ll agree to let you train her for facing the cursed vault.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

The first part of the training involves visiting the Cursed Corridor. Head there when you are ready.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

When you get there, you’ll notice that Merula is a bit disappointed. Apparently, the corridor failed to meet her expectations.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

Shortly after, you’ll decide to search the corridor and see if you can find anything interesting. Doing this requires earning at least one out of five stars within an hour to pass.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

For this task, it is recommended to earn a single star and then let the timer expire. This can save you up to 20 energy, while the only downside would be losing a handful of coins and a negligible amount of experience.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

Sadly, you won’t be able to find anything in the corridor, which will leave Merula saddened.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

Still, she seems eager to continue her training and prepare as much as possible.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

You’ll suggest dueling a beast, which is the closest thing to dueling a dragon.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

She’ll agree to your proposition, but she’ll want to have her dueling instructor at her side.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

Proceed to the Forest Grove for your next task.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

Once you arrive, Torvus will greet you and he’ll tell you some nice news.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

You’ll then explain the reason why you need his help.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

He’ll be curious to know if that’s why you arrived with your friends. You have three options to respond with. While all of the options lead to the same outcome, it is recommended to go with the first option if you care about Merula. Otherwise, you can pick either option.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

After talking for a while, you’ll tell him that you need his help to practice some dueling and prepare for a dragon that is guarding the cursed vault.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

However, Merula wants to see you duel Torvus before she’s ready to do so herself.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

Dueling a Centaur is your next task. The window will display the recommended attribute levels and the gold cost of each attempt.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

Torvus can be quite unpredictable, but the good thing is that his attributes are quite low, which should enable you to defeat him with 2-3 spell casts.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

Torvus will commend your power, which will slightly upset the most powerful witch at Hogwarts.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28 Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

Sadly, her duel won’t end up with the same outcome as yours.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

Torvus will give you a useful piece of advice before you part ways.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

Proceed to the Training Grounds for your next task.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

When you arrive, you can check out what some of the characters have to say to you before continuing.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

Bill will be very surprised to see Merula and you together.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

You have two options to reply to him. This is one of the most IMPORTANT choices of this chapter. If you protect Merula’s vulnerability, it will open some additional dialogue options later on, and in general, she’ll trust you more. It is highly recommended to pick this choice. The only reason not to do that is if you really hate her or if your Empathy level is below 23.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

Besides, the look on her face is simply so adorable if you decide to protect her.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

You’ll then tell Bill that you want to hold a spellcasting competition, and you’ll explain the details to both of them.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28 Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

Bill will not be too excited about this.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

Merula, on the other hand, is eager to compete against you.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

Competing with Merula requires earning five stars within three hours. Only one star is needed to pass.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

It is highly recommended to fully complete this task because there is a waiting period afterward. This should be doable with around 60 energy or so.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

Once you are done, Bill will announce the winner of the competition.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28 Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

Merula, of course, won’t be satisfied with this outcome, which will lead to a hilarious scene.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28 Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

In the end, you’ll agree that she won. After all, she needs to be confident enough to face whatever dangers await you in the next cursed vault.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

After talking for a bit, she’ll offer to train you. You have two response options, but regardless of your choice, the next task will be the same. However, if you like Merula, it is recommended to go with the first option.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

There is a waiting period of five hours before you can proceed. If you are really impatient, you can use some gems to speed things up, but in all honesty, you should be okay with waiting for this one to time out.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

Either way, once you are able to continue, head to the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

It seems that Madam Rakepick let Merula use her classroom.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

You’ll talk for a while and then she’ll tell you what she’s planning to teach you.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28 Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

Your character will be dreaded by the thought of learning the spell such as that.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

You’ll tell her that Madam Rakepick already tried teaching you one of the Unforgivable Curses and you refused.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

Merula will be very surprised to hear about that.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28 Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

And despite trying to explain how horrible that curse is, she’ll want to hear more about it.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28 Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

So, the next task involves talking about the Unforgivable Curses. Completing it requires earning five stars within three hours. Passing, on the other hand, only required one star.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

There are some interesting lines of dialogue after completing actions here, so be sure to check them out.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

Once you finish the task, Merula will offer to teach you a different spell. You have two options to respond with. It is recommended to go with the first option, but even if you refuse, the next part will play out quite similarly.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

The spell she is going to teach you is Fiendfyre!

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

You’ll try to talk her out of it since that spell can potentially cause a disaster.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

And Merula being Merula will ignore your warning and proceed with casting the spell.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

However, the spell will go horribly wrong and the fire will quickly start spreading.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

Thankfully, Madam Rakepick will arrive just in time to douse the flames and prevent a potential disaster.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

Merula will then explain to her that you refused to learn the Killing Curse.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

Apparently, the Professor isn’t too surprised by that.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

Soon after, you’ll get to socialize with Merula. Proceed to the Great Hall when you are ready.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

Once you’re there, you can interact with some of your friends before continuing.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

You’ll ask Merula to tell you the truth about her parents because so far, you’ve only heard rumors about them and you want to hear her side of the story.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

However, she isn’t really sure if she should share this with you, so you’ll need to do some convincing.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

The task window will display the recommended attribute levels and the gold cost. When you are ready, hit Start to begin.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

This acts pretty much like a Meal with a Friend. Simply pick the options that will convince her to trust you and you’ll be done in no time. It’s worth noting that the attribute requirements are ridiculously low, so it’s almost impossible to fail this task. Below are some of the questions and the answers to them.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28 Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28 Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28 Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

When you are done, you’ll be rewarded with 300 experience points and a very happy face of your biggest rival.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

This is the part where the previous choice will take effect. If you protected Merula’s vulnerability earlier, she’ll decide to share some things about her past with you.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28 Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough Year 5 Chapter 28

She’ll then share her story with you. It’s quite sad and disturbing, and perhaps after hearing it, you’ll be able to understand her more. Below is the detailed conversation between the two of you.

You’ll be quick to agree to her proposition. After all, breaking the curse and saving all of the trapped students is all that matters now.
