Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery
Hello everyone, it’s time for Chapter Eight of Year Five of our Magical Journey Walkthrough for Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery. In the previous chapter, you investigated the life and death of Duncan Ashe. You learned that he and Jacob were pretty close and that he died during their pursuit of the Cursed Vaults. You also found out that Jacob lied and got himself expelled in order to protect those he cared about. Duncan also revealed that in order to find the next vault, you need to seek Mundungus Fletcher in Knockturn Alley.
So, let’s get the things started and do the lessons first. Hit the GO button and proceed to the Charms Classroom.
In order to unlock Arresto Momentum Lesson, you need to obtain a total of nine stars from Charms Classes. You can do so in a number of ways, so simply choose a combination of classes that fits your playstyle and hit the Start button to begin.
In general, Charms Classes posses the highest number of high-cost actions, so you’ll be able to finish them without too much trouble.
And as always, focus on the mini-tasks to gain some additional Empathy points.
Upon earning nine stars, the lesson should be unlocked. Head back to the Charms Classroom once you’re ready.
Learning the Arresto Momentum spell is a three-hour task requiring you to obtain five stars to pass.
Like before, focus on the actions with the high cost to optimize the energy usage.
Once you earn the fifth star, you’ll be tasked with casting the spell.
Tap on the Collect button to finalize the lesson and claim your reward.
For the next one, proceed to the Defence Against the Dark Arts Classroom.
Unlocking the Mimblewimble lesson requires earning nine stars from the Defence Against the Dark Arts Classes. Like before, choose the class combination suitable to your liking and hit the Start button to begin.
As for the classes, follow the usual routine – tap on the glowing objects to complete actions and fill up the star meter in order to earn stars.
Also, try your best to complete all of the mini-tasks to gain some extra Courage points.
Head back to the classroom when you collect enough stars to unlock the lesson.
To learn the Tongue-Tying Curse you need to acquire five stars within three hours. Since all of the stars are needed to pass, it is recommended to start with the full energy bar.
Treat this in a similar manner as the previous classes and you’ll be done in no time.
Once you earn all five stars, you’ll need to cast the Tongue-Tying Curse on Ismelda.
The effects of the spell are noticeable, to say the least.
Now that both of the lessons are done, you can resume the story. Proceed to the Kitchens to talk with Jae about Mundungus Fletcher.
When you get there, you’ll be able to interact with some of the house-elves by tapping on their speech bubbles.
Jae will ask if you are ready for detention. You have three options to respond with. Each option will lead to the same outcome, so feel free to pick the one you prefer.
Before Jae can tell you more about Mundungus Fletcher, you’ll have to serve detention. This is an hour-long task with the passing requirement of one out of five stars.
You should easily be able to acquire all five stars with about thirty energy.
After your detention is over, Jae will advise you to use the Floo Network to travel to Knockturn Alley. However, in order to do so, you’ll need to obtain some Floo Powder and find a fireplace connected to the Network.
Luckily, you saw Madam Rakepick using the Floo Powder near the end of last year, so perhaps she will be able to assist you. Hit the GO button and proceed to the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom to meet her.
Upon arriving, you’ll be able to interact with some of your classmates by tapping on the speech bubbles above them.
Afterward, you’ll ask the Professor about the Floo Powder. She’ll be curious to know why are you interested in it. You can respond in three different ways. Regardless of the option you selected, Madam Rakepick will agree to talk about it after the class is over.
Today’s lesson is about Boggarts. You’ll be asked to open the cabinet using the Unlocking Charm and then face the Boggart in front of your classmates.
Upon opening it, Voldemort Boggart will emerge and you’ll need to face him in a duel. The task window will display the recommended attribute levels and the gold cost of each attempt.
This duel is fairly similar to the one you had near the end of Year 3. However, the attribute requirements are much lower, so you shouldn’t struggle too much to defeat him this time.
Once you are done, Madam Rakepick will dismiss the class and you’ll be able to discuss the Floo Powder with her. However, she seems reluctant to teach you how to use it, and definitely for a reason.
In the end, she’ll decide that you need some additional training before you step foot in the Knockturn Alley. Proceed to the Training Grounds once you are ready.
When you get there, you’ll notice that Bill, Merula, and Jae were also invited. Tap on the speech bubbles above them if you want to see what they have to say.
At first, Jae will wonder why did Professor Rakepick ask him to come to the Training Grounds, but it seems that she is well aware of his trips to Knockturn Alley and she wants him to be prepared.
Shortly after, she’ll tell you that she plans to have you training in pairs. You’ll be given a choice to face one of your friends. Keep in mind that both Jae and Bill are locked behind a certain friendship level. Regardless of the one you choose, the task will play out in a fairly similar manner.
You’ll then get the task to practice Hex-Deflection Spells. To complete it, you need to earn five stars within three hours with one star being required to pass.
To fully complete this task, you’ll need around 55-60 energy, depending on the actions you do.
Once you’re done, you’ll witness a funny scene involving the friend you practiced with.
Madam Rakepick wants to test your improvisational skills next. Proceed to meet her in the Clocktower Courtyard when you are ready.
When you get there, you’ll notice that some characters have speech bubbles above them. Tap on those if you are interested to see what they have to say.
Madam Rakepick will ask you to look at your surroundings. To complete this task, you need to earn five stars within three hours. Only one star is needed to pass, so this shouldn’t be much of a problem.
High-cost actions are very scarce here, so you can expect to spend nearly sixty energy to obtain all five stars.
When you are done, Madam Rakepick will set Professor Snape’s cloak on fire. This will result in a hilarious scene that will surely put a smile on your face.
However, all of that will attract the caretaker’s attention. You’ll quickly have to think of a way to deal with Filch. You have three options to choose from. This is one of the rare opportunities to use your Animagus ability in case you are one. It is highly recommended to pick that option, but if you didn’t complete Become an Animagus adventure, any of the other two options will suffice.
Also, using Animagus ability will gain you twenty House Points.
Your next task involves facing a powerful foe in the Forbidden Forest. Hit the GO button and proceed to the Forest Grove when you are ready.
Once you arrive, you’ll notice that there is no one there. But Rakepick must’ve had something in mind when she sent you here.
Suddenly, you’ll hear something approaching. By the looks of it, it’s neither Acromantula nor anything else you’ve encountered yet.
Apparently, it is Professor Kettleburn’s escaped Chimaera, and it looks pretty angry at you.
You’ll have to defend yourself against this vicious creature. The task window will display the recommended attribute levels as well as the gold cost of each attempt.
Chimaera has one move tied to each of the stances. In the Aggressive stance, it has an attack that deals 5 damage initially, plus 5 bleed damage per round for 2 rounds. In Defensive, it has a move that deals five points of damage and stuns you for 2 rounds. Because of this and the fact that Chimaera almost never uses Sneaky stance, you’ll want to stick with the Defensive and blast it with Bombarda until you win.
Once you win, Liz will show up and calm the creature by giving it food.
After talking to Liz for a bit, you’ll get the task to meet Andre in the Library. Hit the GO button and proceed there when you are ready.
Upon arriving, you’ll be able to interact with some of the characters by tapping on their speech bubbles.
You’ll then find out that Madam Rakepick tasked Andre with helping you choose a proper outfit for the Knockturn Alley. You can react to this in three different ways. Each option will lead to the same outcome, but the third one will result in some funny banter, so you might want to check it out if your friendship level with Andre is four or higher.
You’ll then get the task to change your outfit. Simply pick any outfit you prefer and the task will be done. You don’t need to buy any new clothes, simply put on something from your dresser and you’ll be fine.
Once you’re done with that, return to Andre to show him your Knockturn Alley outfit.
He’ll be satisfied with your choice and he’ll tell you that Madam Rakepick asked to see you once you’re done here. Apparently, she wants to teach you how to use Floo Powder.
This will conclude the chapter. Hit the Collect button to claim your rewards which will also add Liz Tuttle to your list of friends.
You are almost ready to head to the Knockturn Alley. Only a few other things need to be sorted out before you can go there. Will Madam Rakepick finally teach you how to use the Floo Powder? And who will accompany you on this dangerous journey? Find out in the next chapter!
Thank you for reading.
