Walkthrough

So, let’s get things started and do the lessons first. Hit the GO button and proceed to the Charms classroom.

In order to unlock Arresto Momentum lesson, you’ll need to obtain a total of nine stars from Charms classes. You can do so in a number of ways, so simply choose a class duration that fits your playstyle and hit the Start button to begin.

year 5 chapter 8 1030

In general, Charms classes have a high number of bonus progress actions, so you’ll be able to finish them without too much trouble.

And as always, focus on successfully completing the mini-tasks to gain some additional Empathy points.

year 5 chapter 8 1050

Upon earning nine stars, the lesson will be unlocked. Head back to the Charms classroom to attend it.

Learning the Arresto Momentum spell is a three-hour task requiring you to obtain five stars to pass.

year 5 chapter 8 1070

Do this lesson just like the classes you took earlier and you’ll be done in no time. During the lesson, you’ll be asked a question about Arresto Momentum.

year 5 chapter 8 1090

Once you earn the fifth star, you’ll be tasked with casting the spell. Trace the wand movement on the screen to do so.

year 5 chapter 8 1100

Tap on the Collect button to finalize the lesson and claim your rewards. You can claim an additional reward from the Charms section of your Hogwarts Record.

year 5 chapter 8 1120

For the next lesson, proceed to the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom.

Unlocking the Mimblewimble lesson requires earning nine stars from the Defence Against the Dark Arts Classes. Like before, choose the class duration suitable to your liking and hit the Start button to begin.

year 5 chapter 8 1140

As for the classes, follow the usual routine – prioritize the bonus progress actions whenever they are available to save as much energy as possible.

Also, try your best to complete all of the mini-tasks to gain some extra Courage points.

year 5 chapter 8 1160

Head back to the classroom when you collect enough stars to unlock the lesson.

To learn the Tongue-Tying Curse you’ll need to acquire five stars within three hours. Since all of the stars are needed to pass, it is recommended to start the lesson with the full energy bar.

year 5 chapter 8 1180

Do this one in a similar way you did the previous classes and you’ll be done in no time. It is also worth noting that you’ll need to answer Professor Rakepick’s question to complete one of the mini-tasks.

year 5 chapter 8 1200

Once you earn all five stars, you’ll need to cast the Tongue-Tying Curse on Ismelda.

year 5 chapter 8 1210

Hit the Collect button to claim your rewards.

You’ll earn an additional reward for completing the lesson. You can claim it in the Defence Against the Dark Arts section of your Hogwarts Record.

year 5 chapter 8 1230

Now that both of the lessons are done, you can resume the story. Proceed to the Kitchens to talk with Jae about Mundungus Fletcher.

When you get there, you’ll be able to interact with some of the house-elves by tapping on their speech bubbles.

Jae will ask if you are ready for detention. You have three options to respond with. Each option will lead to the same outcome, so feel free to pick the one you prefer.

year 5 chapter 8 1260

Before Jae can tell you more about Mundungus Fletcher, you’ll have to serve detention. This is an hour-long task with a passing requirement of one out of five stars.

year 5 chapter 8 1270

There is a bonus progress action tied to Pitts. Prioritizing it should save you a bit of energy.

year 5 chapter 8 1280

After your detention is over, Jae will advise you to use the Floo Network to travel to Knockturn Alley.

year 5 chapter 8 1290

However, in order to do so, you’ll need to obtain some Floo Powder and find a fireplace connected to the Network.

Luckily, you saw Madam Rakepick using Floo Powder near the end of last year, so perhaps she might be able to help you.

year 5 chapter 8 1310

Hit the GO button and proceed to the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom to meet her.

Upon arriving, you’ll be able to interact with some of your classmates by tapping on the speech bubbles above them.

Afterward, you’ll ask the Professor about the Floo Powder.

year 5 chapter 8 1340

She’ll be curious to know why you are interested in it. You can respond in three different ways. Regardless of the option you pick, Madam Rakepick will agree to talk about it after the class is over.

year 5 chapter 8 1350

Today’s lesson is about Boggarts. You’ll be asked to open the cabinet using the Unlocking Charm and then face the Boggart in front of your classmates.

year 5 chapter 8 1360

Upon opening it, Voldemort Boggart will emerge and you’ll need to face him in a duel. The task window will display the recommended attribute levels and the cost of each attempt.

year 5 chapter 8 1370

This duel is relatively similar to the one you had near the end of Year 3. Unless you rushed the story, you should have a significant attribute advantage, which should help you win this duel. One approach is to constantly go Aggressive and use Depulso at every turn. This way, you should win the duel in 3-4 turns.

year 5 chapter 8 1380

Once you are done, Madam Rakepick will dismiss the class and you’ll be able to discuss the Floo Powder with her. However, she’ll seem reluctant to teach you how to use it, and definitely for a reason.

year 5 chapter 8 1390

In the end, she’ll say that you need some additional training before you step foot in the Knockturn Alley. Head to the Training Grounds once you are ready to continue.

When you get there, you’ll notice that Bill, Merula, and Jae were also invited. Tap on the speech bubbles above them if you want to see what they have to say.

At first, Jae will wonder why Professor Rakepick asked him to come to the Training Grounds, but it seems that she is well aware of his trips to Knockturn Alley and she wants him to be prepared.

year 5 chapter 8 1420

Shortly after, she’ll tell you that she wants you and your friends to train in pairs. You’ll be given a choice to face one of your friends.

Keep in mind that both Jae and Bill are locked behind a certain friendship level. Regardless of the one you choose, the task will play out fairly similarly.

year 5 chapter 8 1430

You’ll then get the task to practice Hex-Deflection Spells. To complete it, you need to earn five stars within three hours. One star is required to pass.

year 5 chapter 8 1440

As always, prioritize the bonus progress actions to save energy.

year 5 chapter 8 1450

Once you’re done, you’ll witness a funny scene involving the friend you practiced with.

year 5 chapter 8 1470

Madam Rakepick will want to test your improvisational skills next. Proceed to meet her in the Clocktower Courtyard when you are ready.

When you get there, you’ll notice that some characters have speech bubbles above them. Tap on those if you are curious to see what they have to say.

Madam Rakepick will ask you to take note of your surroundings.

year 5 chapter 8 1520

To complete this task, you need to earn five stars within three hours. Only one star is needed to pass.

year 5 chapter 8 1530

There is a bonus progress action linked to Mrs. Norris. Focus on it to save a bit of energy.

year 5 chapter 8 1540

When you are done, Madam Rakepick will set Professor Snape’s robe on fire. This will result in a hilarious scene that will surely put a smile on your face.

year 5 chapter 8 1550

However, all of that will attract the caretaker’s attention.

year 5 chapter 8 1560

You’ll quickly have to think of a way to deal with Filch. You have three options to choose from.

This is one of the rare opportunities to use your Animagus ability in case you are one. It is highly recommended to pick that option, but if you didn’t complete Become an Animagus adventure, any of the other two options will suffice.

year 5 chapter 8 1570
year 5 chapter 8 1580

Also, using Animagus ability will earn you twenty House Points.

year 5 chapter 8 1610

Your next task involves facing a powerful foe in the Forbidden Forest. Head to the Forest Grove when you are ready to continue.

Once you arrive, you’ll notice that no one is there. Suddenly, you’ll hear something approaching. By the looks of it, it’s neither Acromantula nor anything else you’ve encountered yet.

Apparently, it is Professor Kettleburn’s escaped Chimaera, and it won’t look very friendly.

year 5 chapter 8 1660

You’ll have to defend yourself against this vicious creature. The task window will display the recommended attribute levels as well as the cost of each attempt.

year 5 chapter 8 1670

Chimaera has one move tied to each of the stances. In the Aggressive stance, it has an attack that deals 5 damage initially, plus 5 bleed damage per turn for 2 turns. In Defensive, it has a move that deals five points of damage and stuns you for up to 2 turns.

Because of this and the fact that Chimaera almost never uses Sneaky stance, you’ll want to stick with Defensive stance and blast the creature with Bombarda until you win.

year 5 chapter 8 1680

Once you win, Liz will show up and calm the creature by giving it food. You’ll thank her for saving your life.

year 5 chapter 8 1710

After talking to Liz for a bit, you’ll get the task to meet Andre in the Library. Go there when you are ready to meet with him.

Upon arriving, you’ll be able to interact with some of the characters by tapping on their speech bubbles.

You’ll then find out that Madam Rakepick tasked Andre with helping you choose a proper outfit for the Knockturn Alley.

You can react to this in three different ways. Each option will lead to the same outcome, but the third one will result in some funny banter, so you might want to check it out if your friendship level with Andre is four or higher.

year 5 chapter 8 1750

You’ll then get the task to change your outfit. Simply pick any outfit you prefer and the task will be done. You don’t need to buy any new clothes, simply put on something from your dresser and you’ll be fine.

Once you’re done with that, return to Andre to show him your Knockturn Alley outfit.

year 5 chapter 8 1770

He’ll be satisfied with your choice and he’ll tell you that Madam Rakepick asked to see you.

Apparently, she wants to teach you how to use Floo Powder.

year 5 chapter 8 1800

This will conclude Chapter 8 of Year 5. Hit the Collect button to claim your rewards. You’ll receive 250 Coins and 2000 Experience points. This will also add Liz Tuttle to your list of friends.

You are almost ready to head to the Knockturn Alley. Only a few other things need to be sorted out before you can go there. Will Madam Rakepick finally teach you how to use Floo Powder? And who will accompany you on this dangerous journey? Find out in the next chapter of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery!
