Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery
Hello everyone, welcome to our Walkthrough for the Egg Hunt Side Quest for Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery. This quest becomes available shortly after the start of Year Five. During it, Charlie and you will embark on an adventure full of danger and excitement. So, let’s get right into it. Once you receive the quest, you’ll receive a message from Charlie, telling you to meet him in the Great Hall.
When you get there, you’ll notice that some characters have speech-bubbles above them. Tapping on those will reveal what they have to say to you.
After that, Charlie will tell you that he found out that some strange wizard is selling an egg, which supposedly is a Dragon Egg. You can react to this in three different ways. All of the options lead to the same outcome, but Charlie will react best to the first one, so it is somewhat preferred to select that one.
You’ll talk some more about the matter and then you’ll decide to help him. Your first task is to check if someone in the Great Hallknowsw anything about the strange wizard. This is an hour-long task which requires you to earn at least one out of five stars to pass.
Make sure to slide the screen left and right to see all the available actions.
Once you are done, you’ll deduce that the wizard in question is most likely hanging around The Three Broomsticks.
However, before you can proceed, there is a waiting period of three hours, so you’ll either have to wait for a while or use some gems to speed up the process.
In any case, when the waiting time is over, head to the Three Broomsticks to meet Charlie.
Once you’re there, you’ll be able to interact with certain characters and see what they have to say.
Your next task will be looking around the inn for the Merchant. To complete it, you need to earn five stars within three hours. Only one star is needed to pass, so it shouldn’t be too hard to achieve.
Do this just like all the other story tasks so far and you won’t have any problems with it.
Once you are done, you’ll be approached by the mysterious hooded man named Alistair Fidgen.
He’ll instantly offer to sell you the Dragon Egg, and judging by what he’s telling, his story might be legit. He is willing to sell the egg for five hundred Galleons.
You’ll also learn that Alistair knew Jacob. Not just that, he frequently visited him in the Knockturn Alley.
In the end, you’ll strike a deal with him to tell you everything he knows about Jacob and give you the egg for four hundred and ninety-five Galleons.
Charlie will be a bit worried about getting that much money, but thankfully, you have an idea that could make things easier. Hit the GO button and proceed to the Red Cap’s Hole when you are ready.
Upon arriving, you’ll tell Charlie that your idea involves selling some of the Red Cap’s treasure in order to earn the money you need. You even have Sickleworth to help you with searching for treasure. Charlie, however, will find this particularly dangerous and he’ll ask why do you want to risk angering the Red Cap. You have three options to respond with.
Regardless of what you select, Charlie will agree with your idea. You’ll then receive a task to search through the Red Cap’s hole. You have one hour to complete it by obtaining five stars. Like before, only one star is required to pass.
It’ll take you around thirty energy to complete this task, which should easily be doable with one energy bar.
After you’re done, you’ll get a lot of stuff, some of which look very valuable.
For the next task, head back to the Great Hall to talk to Charlie.
When you arrive, you’ll notice that some of the students have something to say to you. Tap on their speech bubbles to find out what.
Charlie will then tell you that even after selling all of the Red Cap’s stuff, you are still a bit short, so you’ll need to think of a way to make more money. You have three possible options. Bear in mind that this choice will significantly change your next task. While the general outcome of the quest will remain unchanged, the story will differ quite a bit.
The next section will feature the part where you work at The Three Broomsticks. Keep in mind that the other options have similar tasks and the same number of choices, so from that perspective, all of them are equally rewarding. There is also a waiting period of three hours before you can proceed to this task.
Once you are able to continue, head to The Three Broomsticks to meet Charlie.
Upon arriving, you can interact with some characters and see what they have to say to you.
Madam Rosmerta will agree to your proposition and you’ll be allowed to work a shift at her inn. You have three hours to complete this task and earn at least one out of five possible stars to pass.
If you want to optimize the energy usage, focus on completing the high-cost actions whenever they appear.
When you are done, Madam Rosmerta will be so pleased that she’ll offer you to run the Three Broomsticks after she retires. You have three response options. Neither of these will change the outcome of the quest, but they might have some influence in the later chapters, so if you like the cozy atmosphere of the inn, you might want to consider choosing the first option as long as your Empathy level is twenty-two or higher.
For the next task, you should proceed to the Forest Grove in the Forbidden Forest. This is where all of the previous paths converge, so regardless of the way you earned the money, each path will lead you to this point.
Upon arriving, you’ll notice that Alistair is already waiting for you. After a bit of conversation, you’ll trade the Galleons for the egg.
Afterward, you’ll get the chance to ask him one question about Jacob. Each of these options will reveal some new information to you, so be sure to pick the one you’re most curious about. However, keep in mind that these choices could potentially have some influence in the future Chapters and since the second option contains some of the most recent information about Jacob, you might want to consider picking that one.
Shortly after, Alistair will leave the place. For the next task, you need to go to Hagrid and see if the egg you have is actually a Dragon Egg. However, you’ll have to wait for three hours before you can continue.
Once the waiting time is over, you should proceed to the Castle Grounds.
You’ll explain the whole situation to Hagrid and ask him to aid you with identifying the egg. He’ll be curious to know why you chose to seek his help. You have three response options. Each will lead to the same outcome, so feel free to pick the one you find the most appropriate.
Identifying the egg is a three-hour task which requires you to earn at least one out of five stars to pass.
You’ll need around 55-60 energy to complete this task, depending on the actions you take. This shouldn’t be too hard as long as you didn’t start with an empty energy bar.
When you are done, Hagrid will share the disappointing news that the egg you bought isn’t a dragon egg. Charlie will be devastated to hear this and he’ll apologize to you for having to do all the work to obtain the egg. You can respond in three ways. He’ll react the best to the third option, but for that one, you need to have a level five friendship with him. Otherwise, you can pick any of the other options since all will eventually lead to the same outcome.
Hagrid will also say that despite not being a dragon, the egg you got is special.
For the next task, you need to follow him to the Forbidden Forest. Hit the GO button and proceed there when you are ready.
He’ll lead you to the Acromantula’s Lair. Could it be that the egg belongs to the spider?
And that’s precisely the case. The Acromantula will arrive and it’ll be furious to see you with its egg.
The spider will demand to know where you got the egg from. You have three options to choose from. Each of those will lead pretty much to the same outcome, so pick the one you prefer.
You’ll then have to fight Acromantula. The task window will display the recommended attribute levels as well as the gold cost of each attempt.
This fight is fairly similar to the one you had near the end of Year Four. However, for some reason, it appears that the Spider is following the set pattern for the stances. It will go Defensive on the first round, then Sneaky and finally Aggressive on the third round. Afterward, it’ll just repeat that pattern until the end of the fight. It is yet unknown if this was intended or not, so it could get changed in one of the future updates, in which case you can just refer to the tactic used in the fight near the end of Year Four.
Once you win, Acromantula will calm down and shortly after, you’ll witness the egg hatching into a baby-spider.
As a special token of appreciation, you’ll get Hebridean Black scale. By the looks of it, Acromantula found it in one of its webs and has no use for it whatsoever.
You’ll decide to let Charlie keep the dragon scale which will make him overjoyed.
Shortly after, the quest will be over. Hit the Collect button to claim your rewards.
What an eventful quest, full of twists and surprises! It is kinda sad that the egg didn’t turn out to be the dragon, but at least you got the next best thing. Also, that Dark Wizard seems very shady and secretive and there is a high chance this is not the last you’ll see of him.
Thank you for reading and see you soon with more amazing adventures. Until next time.
