Chapter 14 – A New Friend Of A Friend

Introduction

Hello everyone, welcome to our Walkthrough for Chapter Fourteen of Year Six of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. Previously, Mad-Eye Moody warned you that ‘R’ has former Death Eaters in its ranks. Also, apparently, an Azkaban escapee is going after you, and it is probably the same one Jacob warned you about.

Later on, you went with Ben to the Forbidden Forest. He wanted to demonstrate that he’s able to protect you by fighting the Acromantula. After that, he said he wanted you to talk to his friend, Cedric.

But before that, there are some lessons to get out of the way. Proceed to the Training Grounds for the first one. To unlock the Strong Braking lesson, you need to obtain a total of nine stars from the Flying classes. Pick the class duration suitable to your liking and hit the Start button to begin.

Like always, prioritize the bonus actions whenever you can to save some energy.

Also, focus on completing all of the mini-tasks to earn some additional Courage points.

Head back to the Training Grounds once you acquire enough stars to unlock the lesson. To learn Strong Braking, you need to earn five stars within eight hours. All of the stars are needed to pass.

Other than the star requirement and some mini-tasks, this lesson is fairly similar to regular 8-hour classes.

Upon earning the fifth star, you will be tasked with performing this maneuver.

When you are done, hit the Collect button to claim your rewards. This will permanently increase your energy limit by 1. You’ll be able to claim an additional reward in the Flying section of your Hogwarts Record.

For the second lesson, proceed to the Transfiguration classroom. To unlock Pawn to Queen, you need to obtain nine stars from the Transfiguration classes. Pick the class duration you prefer and start when you’re ready.

Once again, prioritize reward actions to save energy.

As for the mini-tasks, completing these will award you some bonus Knowledge points.

Return to the classroom once you obtain enough stars to unlock the lesson. Learning Pawn to Queen transfiguration requires earning five stars within three hours. Since all five stars are required to pass, avoid starting this lesson with an empty energy bar.

Approach this lesson in the same way as any of the usual classes.

Once you get the fifth star, you will be tasked with performing the spell. Trace the wand movement on the screen to do so.

Hit the Collect button to claim your rewards. You’ll earn an additional reward for completing the lesson. You can collect it in the Transfiguration section of your Hogwarts Record.

Now that the lessons are out of the way, you can head to the Clocktower Courtyard to meet with Cedric. Since the next task doesn’t require you to spend any energy, it is recommended to go there as soon as you’re done with the lessons. Apparently, Ben really wants to be your protector, which is the reason why he asked you to talk to Cedric.

Shortly after, Cedric will approach and greet you warmly.

Cedric will reveal that he knows Ben from the Dueling Club and he will praise him as the bravest and most confident person he has ever met.

Cedric will say that he’d like to have a duel with you. After all, he’s heard all about your dueling skills from Ben. The task window will display the recommended attribute levels and the cost of the duel. Hit Start when you are ready to begin.

Cedric can be very unpredictable, but luckily, the attribute requirements are fairly low, which should give you a significant advantage.

Once you win, Cedric will praise your dueling skills. Also, he will admit that he was looking forward to getting to know you better.

However, before he could finish that sentence, Diego will rush in.

While Diego seems eager to challenge Cedric to a duel. Cedric will say he has other priorities, like helping Madam Pomfrey with the petrified students, which will disappoint Diego. He’ll even ask if you’d be willing to help. As for Ben, he will offer himself as a dueling partner to Diego.

Before you can continue, there is a waiting period of three hours. Since you will likely be low on energy at this point, and it takes exactly three hours for your bar to regenerate, it is highly recommended to wait until this timer expires.

Once the waiting time is over, proceed to the Hospital Wing to help Madam Pomfrey. You will be able to interact with some of the characters before continuing. After greeting her, you will tell Madam Pomfrey that you’ve arrived to help with the patients. Needless to say, she’ll be very pleased to hear that.

If you completed Take the O.W.L.s adventure, you’ll get some additional lines of dialogue.

Madam Pomfrey will then ask you to tend to petrified students. While doing that, you will also get to talk to Cedric. This requires earning five stars within three hours. One star is needed to pass.

Both Cedric and your character have bonus actions linked to them. Prioritize those to save some energy.

Once you’re done, Cedric will say that having a conversation with you made him feel better Also, he will admit that his father is expecting a lot of him. Cedric will ask if you’d prefer if people didn’t have high expectations for you. There are two options to pick from, but none of these will have any significant impact on the story, so feel free to take your pick.

Regardless of your choice, Cedric will admit he is looking up to you.

He’ll even ask if the two of you can be friends. Naturally, you’ll agree with a cheeky smile on your face. Moments later, Madam Pomfrey will approach and thank you for tending to Petrified students. She’ll then request one of you to assist her in brewing Pepperup potion, but unfortunately, Cedric hasn’t learned how to brew it yet.

Thankfully, you’re familiar with that one, so you’ll quickly offer your help. Also, there might be a skilled Hufflepuff witch willing to help you with that.

However, before you can do anything about that, Bill will ask you to meet him. Unfortunately, he isn’t yet ready, so you will need to wait three hours. Like before, it is recommended to wait until this timer runs out and regenerate some energy in the meantime.

Once the waiting time is over, proceed to the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom to meet with Bill. Upon arriving, you will notice that Charlie is there as well.

Apparently, Charlie told Bill about what happened in the Courtyard previously.

It was quite a shock for Charlie. He can’t believe the escaped wizard is connected to ‘R’ and is targeting you. However, he’s ready to assist you in any way he can. Shortly after, Percy and the twins will show up, mentioning there’s an emergency.

Bill will be unsure if their problem is very serious or not. You have three options to respond with. This choice won’t significantly impact the story, so feel free to pick the option you prefer.

Next, you will get to talk to them. To do that, you need to earn five stars within three hours. Only one star is required to pass.

Both Charlie and George have bonus actions tied to them. Focus on these to save some energy.

As it appears, the twins are worried that Filch will catch them after they play a prank on him.

As for Percy, he is worried about his missing rat Scabbers, and thinks he might end up in Mrs. Norriss’ clutches. Apparently, Charlie and Bill are not too worried about these problems. Regardless, you will ask them to help their siblings.

As for you, there’s still a potion you have to brew. Once you are ready, proceed to the Potions classroom to meet with Penny. When you arrive, you will notice that she is looking very anxious.

Still, she will be determined to help you, despite her own worries. You will offer to talk about it while brewing, and thankfully, she will agree. Brewing some Pepperup potion requires earning five stars within an hour. All of the stars are needed to pass, so avoid starting this task if you’re low on energy.

Both Penny and your character have bonus actions tied to them. Prioritizing these could potentially save you some energy.

By the looks of it, your Hufflepuff friend is worried about her sister. The advice you gave her back during Chapter 11 of Year 6 will be referenced here.

Penny will confess it was a mistake, describing how Beatrice got upset and accused her of being too protective. She’ll mention that Beatrice doesn’t want to talk to her. Additionally, Penny will make a comment about your relationship with Jacob.

She’ll ask if you think your relationship with him will ever come back to normal. There are two options to pick from. This choice won’t significantly impact the story, so feel free to pick either option.

In any case, Penny will thank you for listening to her problems. Moments later, Professor Snape will enter the classroom and ask you to come with him.

You will immediately notice the concern on his face. you’ll think something serious happened while you were brewing the potion.

Unfortunately, there is a waiting period of four hours before you can proceed. Like before, it is recommended simply to wait and let your energy recharge in the meantime.

Once you’re able to continue, head to the Hospital Wing to see what happened. Upon entering, you will notice that Madam Pomfrey got petrified.

You’ll ask the Professors what happened, but sadly, they are still trying to figure it out.

Professor Dumbledore will mention that Cedric was the last one to talk to Madam Pomfrey. As it appears, he’s too shaken up by what happened.

The Headmaster and Penny will both try to calm him down.

Penny will propose that he talk to you about the incident, and eventually, he’ll calm down and agree to open up and share the details. Listening to him requires earning five stars within eight hours. Only one star is needed to pass.

There are reward actions tied to Cedric, Snape, and Madam Pomfrey. Focus on those if you want to save some energy.

When you are done, Cedric will explain what happened.

Snape will add that the other students had similar stories. Also, it appears that this curse is by far the most dangerous one. Unlike the previous curses, this one is also targeting Hogwarts staff.

Professor Dumbledore will once again remind you that you shouldn’t be meddling with the cursed vaults.

Moments later, Chapter 14 of Year 6 will come to an end. Hit the Collect button to claim your rewards. You will receive 250 Coins and 2000 Experience Points. This will add Cedric Diggory to your list of friends.
