Chapter 17 – Getting The Message
Introduction
Hello everyone, welcome to our Walkthrough for Chapter Seventeen of Year Six of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. During the previous chapter, Chiara healed your wounds. Later on, you found out that Dumbledore already knows about your trip to the lakeshore. This earned you detention. Both you and Beatrice went to the Kitchens, and after serving detention, you met with Talbott at the Owlery.
After searching the place, you found a message written in Japanese. You then went to the Library to translate it, and you learned that there are white quills hidden at the lakeshore. You decided to go there again, and Talbott was determined to accompany you.

Some of the mini-tasks are unique to this lesson, so try your best to complete them.
Upon earning the fifth star, you’ll be tasked with feeding the Moke.
Hit the Collect button to claim your rewards. You will earn an additional reward for completing the lesson. You can claim it in the Care of Magical Creatures section of your Hogwarts Record.
Now that you’re done with the lessons, proceed to Lakeshore to look for the white quills. If what was written in the letter is true, you might be able to find something here.
Talbott will remind you of the choice you made while you were in the Library.
If you completed Become an Animagus adventure, you’ll suggest searching the place in your Animagus forms.
Doing so requires earning five stars within three hours. One star is needed to pass.
There are reward actions linked to your character and a wooden log. Prioritize those actions to save some energy.
After your search, you’ll discover a white quill, and Talbot will ask if it’s another Transfigured message. You will say there is only one way to find out. Trace the wand movement to cast Reparifarge.
The spell successfully transforms the quill into a note, revealing shocking information when read.
Recognizing the seriousness of the situation, you’ll promptly decide to inform the Headmaster, who will then make the choice to address the students shortly after. Proceed to the Great Hall when you are ready. Upon arriving, you will be able to interact with some of your classmates before continuing. Apparently, your friends are well aware of the recent events.
You’ll then get to discuss Dementors with your friends. To do that, you need to acquire five stars within an hour. Only one star is required to pass.
There are reward actions tied to Merula and your character. Prioritize those to save a bit of energy.
After that, Liz will say that she is worried and that it is very risky that the Ministry will send dementors to Hogwarts to capture the escaped wizard, adding that one of the students might get hurt. On the other hand, Ben won’t be too concerned about Dementors.
If you completed Unleash Your Patronus Adventure, you’re in for some additional lines of dialogue.
Thankfully, reporting everything to the Headmaster got you out of detention. This will grab Ben’s attention, so you’ll tell him what happened.
Upon hearing that, Ben will be even more determined to be your protector.
Liz, however, will doubt his intentions and will say that she thinks he’s only interested in getting in on the action, which will upset Ben. You will have two options to react to this. If you like Ben, it is recommended to go with the first one. Otherwise, you can feel free to pick either one.
Moments later, Dumbledore will start addressing the students.
As it appears, the Ministry will also be sending Aurors to help with the situation.
Professor Dumbledore will request that everyone act appropriately and assist the Aurors if needed. You’ll then receive an owl from Mad-Eye Moody, saying he will be arriving at Hogwarts in about three hours. Since your energy bar will likely be empty, it is recommended to wait a while and let your energy regenerate in the meantime.
Once the waiting time is over, proceed to the Artefact Room to meet with Mad-Eye. He’ll ask you a few questions about your brother.
You’ll tell him you haven’t seen your brother since he went to follow Sickleworth, hoping it will lead him to Rakepick. According to Mad-Eye, Jacob was at the lakeshore during the time of the attack. You’ll then get to talk to him about it. This requires earning five stars within eight hours. All five stars are needed to pass.
Both Mad-Eye Moody and your character have reward actions linked to them, which should save you some energy.
As it turns out, Jacob was the one who drove off the Azkaban escapee.
It looks like Jacob was focused on protecting you lately. You have three options to respond with. This choice won’t have any significant impact on the story, so feel free to pick whichever option you prefer.
Sadly, Mad-Eye Moody doesn’t know where Jacob is, so you’ll decide to check his room and see if he’s there by any chance. There is a waiting period of four hours before you can proceed. Like before, simply wait until this timer expires and let your energy replenish in the meantime.
Go to Jacob’s room once the waiting time is over. Once you arrive, you will tell Ben that your brother was the one who drove off the Dark Wizard.
Ben will wonder if your brother left any clues in his room, making it a good idea to investigate and look for hints. Searching the room requires earning five stars within three hours. Three stars are needed to pass.
There are reward actions tied to the basket and the board. Prioritize those actions if you want to save some energy.
When you are done, you will notice a black quill on the table.
After discussing it for a bit, Ben will ask if you believe the threats from these quills. There are two options to reply with. This choice won’t have any significant impact on the story, so feel free to pick either option.
Ben will then open up to you.
He’ll thank you and mention that he knows you’ve had a tough time. He’ll then suggest you change the black quill back to how it was before.
Trace the wand movement to cast Reparifarge.
The spell will work, and the quill will turn into a note, revealing that it is addressed to your brother.
Ben will be curious if this means your brother is working for ‘R’. There are two response options. If you care about Jacob, it is highly recommended to pick the second option.
In any case, it looks like your next destination is the Forest Grove.
This will conclude Chapter 17 of Year 6. Hit the Collect button to claim your rewards. You will receive 250 Coins and 2000 Experience Points.
Will you be able to get past the Dementors? And what will happen once you get to Forest Grove? Find out in the next chapter of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery.
