Chapter 18
Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery
Hello everyone, welcome to our Walkthrough for Chapter Eighteen of Year Six of Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery. Last time, you found out that Jacob was the one who saved you from the mysterious wizard in white. Furthermore, you learned that the Ministry is looking for Azkaban escapee, and they’ve sent Dementors to search for him. Lastly, while searching through Jacob’s room, you found another Black Quill. Untransfiguring it revealed a message from ‘R’, asking Jacob to meet them at the Forest Grove. You decided to ‘attend’ that meeting and see if you can finally get some answers. However, as usual, you should get the lessons out of the way first. Proceed to the Training Grounds for the first one.

To unlock Riding Facing Backwards lesson, you need to obtain nine stars from Flying classes. As always, pick the class duration suitable to your liking, and hit Start when you’re ready to begin.

Prioritize 5-cost actions whenever you can to save some energy.

Try your best to complete all of the mini-tasks to earn some additional Courage points.

Once you unlock the lesson, return to the Training Grounds to attend it.

Learning how to ride facing backwards requires obtaining five stars within eight hours. All five stars are needed to pass.

Treat this just like any other eight-hour class.

Pay attention to some of the mini-tasks since they are unique to this lesson.

When you earn the fifth star, you will be tasked with performing this maneuver.

For the second lesson, proceed to the History of Magic classroom.

To unlock Gargoyle Strike of 1911 lesson, you need to earn nine stars from History of Magic classes.

As usual, focus on 5-cost actions to save some energy.

Completing mini-tasks in these classes will earn you some Knowledge points.

Return to the classroom once you acquire enough stars to unlock the lesson.

Learning about Gargoyle Strike of 1911 requires earning five stars within three hours. All five stars are needed to pass, so avoid starting this if your energy is low.

The things that differentiate this lesson from the others are the mini tasks.

Once you’re done with the lessons, you can head to the Library to meet with your friends.

Upon arriving, you’ll be able to interact with some of the characters before continuing.

As it appears, the most powerful witch at Hogwarts is well-aware of your plan.

At first, you’ll find it odd that Ben informed Merula about it.

Ben will ask you to hear him out before saying anything.

This requires earning five stars within an hour. Three stars are needed to pass.

The only 5-cost action here is tied to your character. Focus on that one if you’re looking to save some energy.

By the looks of it, Ben wants Merula to join you since he isn’t too sure if the two of you will be capable of dealing with Dementors on your own.

If you’ve completed Unleash Your Patronus adventure, you’ll be in for some additional dialogue lines.

Also, Ben was thinking about recruiting the rest of your friends that went to the buried vault with you, but sadly, it looks like you’re out of luck.

By the looks of it, Ben is prepared for anything.

Merula, on the other hand, isn’t just yet ready to put herself in a life-threatening situation.

You’ll quickly start questioning her motives.

Anyway, Ben will tell you it’s probably for the best if all of you stick together. There are three reply options. If you like Merula, it is recommended not to pick the second option.

She’ll then remind you that you need to figure out a way to get past the Dementors.

Ben will assume she’s afraid of them.

She’ll reply by pointing out the obvious. You have two options to react to this. If you like Merula, it is recommended to go with the second option. Otherwise, feel free to pick either one.

You’ll suggest preparing properly before heading into the Forbidden Forest.

By the looks of it, Ben has a surprise in store for you.

Still, you’ll have to wait approximately two hours before he’s ready to share it. Since your energy will likely be empty at this point, it is recommended simply to wait for this timer to run out, and let your energy regenerate in the process.

Once the waiting time is over, proceed to the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom.

It looks like Ben asked Badeea for help.

Ben will start explaining everything.

You’ll recall some of the events from the previous year.

The spell in question appears to be Flipendo Maxima.

This is the modified, more powerful version of Flipendo.

The most powerful witch at Hogwarts will be very interested to learn this spell.

To learn Flipendo Maxima, you need to obtain five stars within three hours. Since all five stars are needed to pass, avoid starting this task with an empty energy bar.

The only 5-cost action here is linked to your character. Prioritize it in order to save some energy.

When you’re done, you’ll get to test this spell on Ben. Trace the wand movement to do so.

The spell will work as intended, and Ben will be sent flying all across the room.

Soon after, he will be ready to leave for the Forbidden Forest.

However, there’s still something you need to do before that.

The following part will differ based on whether or not you completed Unleash Your Patronus adventure. If you did, you will need to meet up with Tonks and discuss a few things before heading out to the Forbidden Forest. If you did not complete the adventure, you will seek Professor Flitwick and ask him if he can teach you the Patronus Charm. The following section will feature the protagonist’s meeting with Tonks. In case you are meeting with Flitwick, he will explain that he cannot simply teach you Patronus Charm because it requires a lot of time and effort in order to learn such a powerful spell. As for the tasks, the requirements in both cases are pretty much the same.

Upon greeting Tonks, you will tell her that you want to talk about Dementors.

You’ll mention some of the events of Unleash Your Patronus adventure.

Thankfully, Tonks will be willing to answer all of your questions.

Discussing Patronuses requires earning five stars within an hour. Three stars are needed to pass.

Both Tonks and your character have 5-cost actions linked to them, which should make it easier to complete this task.

When you’re done, you’ll ask her an interesting question.

She will be sure to remind you how dangerous Dementors can be.

You have two options to respond to that. This choice won’t have any significant impact on the story, so feel free to go with either option.

Tonks will also ask you to promise not to do anything dangerous. There are two response options. Since getting into Forbidden Forest full of Dementors should probably be considered ‘dangerous’, it is somewhat recommended not to promise anything. After all, you don’t really want to lie to your friend and make a promise you cannot keep.

Next, you’ll need to meet with Ben and Merula in the Great Hall. However, there’s a waiting period of one hour before you can continue. Simply wait for this timer to run out and let your energy regenerate in the process.

Once you’re able to continue, proceed to the Great Hall to meet with your friends.

When you arrive, you’ll be able to check out what some of your friends have to say by tapping on the speech bubbles above them.

Ben will ask if you’re feeling ready for heading into the forest. There are two options to reply with. None of these will influence the story in any significant way, so feel free to take your pick.

As for Merula, she only seems interested in getting her revenge.

Ben, on the other hand, has come to a realization.

Talking to Ben requires earning five stars within three hours. Only one star is needed to pass.

The only 5-cost action here is tied to Ben. Prioritize it if you’re looking to save some energy.

It looks like Ben is finally feeling like a part of your group, which you’ll find strange since you’ve considered him your friend ever since the two of you met.

Still, Ben isn’t quite sure if that’s the case. You have two options to respond with. If you like him and consider him your friend, you should pick the first option.

He’ll then say a few words of encouragement.

WARNING!!! MASSIVE SPOILERS AHEAD!!! You’ll have to wait around four hours before it’s time to sneak out to the Forest Grove. Like before, it is recommended to wait until this timer runs out since your energy will replenish in the meantime.

Before heading out, you might want to take a short break and enjoy some friendly activities with Rowan. One may never know what the future may bring, so you might as well enjoy and cherish these moments while they last.

Head to the Forest Grove once you’re ready to continue.

Upon arriving, you and your friends will realize that you’re the only ones there.

In any case, you’ll decide to search the area and see if you can find anything.

This requires earning five stars within eight hours. All of the stars are needed to pass.

There are 5-cost actions tied to Ben, your character, one of the trees, and nearby bushes. Prioritizing these should save you some energy.

When you’re done, you’ll discover an item in nearby bushes.

According to Merula, it’s one of Rakepick’s Dark artefacts.

Could this mean that Rakepick is nearby?

Before you get the chance to discuss it further, you’ll be surrounded by multiple Dementors.

If you completed Unleash Your Patronus, you’ll try conjuring your Patronus to fend off the Dementors. Trace the wand movement to do so.

The spell will work, but only on one of the Dementors. You’ll still have plenty of others surrounding you.

Merula will try to help too.

She’ll also be able to repel one of the attackers, but you’ll slowly become swarmed.

Suddenly, you’ll hear a familiar voice.

A lioness Patronus will appear fending off all of the Dementors.

And the one conjuring that Patronus was none other than Madam Rakepick.

Merula will instantly get angry and start attacking her.

However, Madam Rakepick will deflect Merula’s attacks with ease before knocking her off her feet.

Rakepick will even throw some taunts her way.

You’ll ask her an obvious question.

And she’ll more than happily sate your curiosity.

She’ll then raise her wand and ready her attack.

Luckily, you’ll be able to shield yourself against it.

Unfortunately, her next attack will knock your wand away.

Before she gets the chance to finish you off, Ben will step in to defend you.

This will only anger Rakepick even more, and she’ll start attacking your friend relentlessly.

Ben will crawl back to his wand, and he’ll use all his strength to attack Rakepick one more time.

His attack will definitely have an effect on her.

However, it was not the effect he was hoping for.

She’ll raise her wand, and utter the words of an Unforgivable Curse… the most horrible of them all…

Her wand will start glowing and a green beam of deadly energy will fly towards your friend.

Out of nowhere, Rowan will appear and push Ben away preventing the Killing Curse from hitting him.

Unfortunately, the curse will end up hitting Rowan, and he will fall down on the ground motionless.

You and your friends will scream in shock.

As for Rakepick, she’ll seem very satisfied with this outcome, and she’ll just disapparate away.

All of you will quickly rush to Rowan.

Merula will notice that your dear friend is not giving any signs of life.

You’ll desperately try to think of a way to undo the effects of Rakepick’s spell.

Merula will point out the cruel reality.

All of you will kneel there for a while longer, looking at the motionless body of your dear friend…

This will conclude Chapter 18 of Year 6. Hit the Collect button to claim your rewards.

Is this really the end for Rowan? What will the Headmaster do once he finds out about what happened? How will your other friends react? Find out in the next chapter of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery!
