Chapter 30 – Journey to the Whomping Willow
Introduction
Hello everyone, welcome to our Walkthrough for Chapter Thirty of Year Six of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. Previously, you had a talk with Professor Dumbledore at his office regarding the Circle of Khanna. You learned that he isn’t fully aware of what it represents, so you managed to get off the hook easily. Later on, you did some investigating and decided to pay a visit to the Whomping Willow.
Before doing that, you met with Jacob, and you practiced Shield Charm with him. Afterward, Merula called an emergency Circle of Khanna meeting, where she gathered several of your friends. Her goal was to have you teach them the Shield Charm, but before you were able to do that, the Caretaker found you and took you to the Headmaster’s office.
Apparently, Professor Dumbledore found out more about the Circle of Khanna, and in order to keep you safe, he sent both Merula and you to detention.

Walkthrough
Before reporting to Pitts, you should get the lessons out of the way, so proceed to the Potions classroom when you are ready. To unlock the Memory Potion lesson, you need to acquire a total of nine stars from Potions classes. Select the class duration you prefer and hit Start to begin.
As usual, to save energy, prioritize the bonus progress actions whenever they are available.
Also, each of the mini-tasks will grant you some extra Knowledge points, so try your best to complete them all successfully.
Head back to the classroom once you earn enough stars to unlock the lesson. Learning how to brew Memory Potion requires obtaining five stars within three hours. All five stars are needed to pass, so avoid starting this lesson if your energy is low.
Pay attention to some of the mini-tasks during the lesson.
Upon earning the fifth star, you’ll need to wave your wand over the cauldron to finish the potion.
When you are done, hit the Collect button to claim your rewards. You can claim an additional reward in the Potions section of your Hogwarts Record.
Proceed to the Care of Magical Creatures for the second lesson of the chapter. Unlocking the Knarl lesson requires earning a total of nine stars from Care of Magical Creatures. Like before, pick the class duration that suits you and hit Start when you are ready to begin.
Once again, focus on completing all of the actions with bonus progress in order to save some energy.
Other than that, completing the mini-tasks will grant you some extra Courage points.
Return to the Care of Magical Creatures when you unlock the lesson. Completing the Knarl lesson requires earning five stars within three hours. Once again, all five stars are needed to pass, which is why you shouldn’t start it if you are low on energy.
Some of the mini-tasks are unique to this lesson, so pay extra attention.
When you are done, hit the Collect button to claim your rewards. You’ll earn an additional reward for completing the lesson. You can collect it in the Care of Magical Creatures section of your Hogwarts Record.
Now you can head to the kitchens to report for detention. Upon arriving, you will notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you are interested to see what they have to say. Pitts will say a few words after seeing Merula and you.
Apparently, he’s already been informed about your misdeeds. In any case, it looks like you’ll be making some sandwiches during detention. Needless to say, the Most Powerful Witch at Hogwarts won’t really be happy with this turn of events.
She will add that instead of being out there defeating Rakepick she is here forced to make sandwiches, she’ll wonder how making sandwiches can avenge Rowan. Moments later, Jae will approach, and he won’t look glad to see you.
He will add that he is quite peeved not to be in for the same reason as you. Apparently, he didn’t like that he was left out of the previous Circle of Khanna meeting. There are two options to choose from. If you like Jae, it is recommended to apologize to him.
Shortly after, Jae will say he has some sneaking tips for you. If you apologized to him, he will happily offer to help you out.
Getting tips from Jae requires earning five stars within an hour. Only one star is needed to pass.
There is no waiting time before the next task, so if you want to save some energy, it is recommended to earn a single star and then let the timer expire. Using this method, you can save around 30 energy, which is no small amount. However, if you want the chance to earn some extra rewards, it is recommended to fully complete this task.
You will conclude that if you can get in fast, find cover, and be agile at the Whomping Willow, you will have the best chance of finding clues there. Jae will also give you another important piece of advice.
Jae will suggest you head to Willow right away because Dumbledore doesn’t expect you to leave now and there’s less chance of getting caught. Merula will commend Jae for his cunning, and you’ll agree with her, before that, you’ll decide to return to work to avoid Pitts noticing any slackening.
Head to the Whomping Willow when you are ready to continue. You’ll be quite happy about finally being able to see the Whomping Willow, it seems that Merula is also fascinated by it.
She will warn you to be careful while approaching the Willow and she will remind you that you need to get in and out of there as fast as you can. Merula will then ask you a question. There are three options to respond with. These won’t have any significant impact on the story, so feel free to take your pick.
Shortly after, you will get to search the Whomping Willow. This requires earning five stars within eight hours. All five stars are needed to pass.
There are bonus actions linked to Merula and your character. Prioritize these if you are looking to save some energy.
When you are done, you will notice a black quill on the ground. Trace the wand movement to cast Reparifarge.
The spell will work and the quill will turn into a note and you will start reading the message.
Merula will wonder if this message was written by someone within ‘R’. Unfortunately, before she can read the rest of it, you will urge Merula to run before the Whomping Willow hits you.
You will manage to get away just in time. Sadly, Merula will realize she dropped the scroll while she was running. Shortly after, both of you will prepare to run back and pick up the scroll. After dodging the Whomping Willow, you will get the opportunity to grab the note.
When you retreat to safety, Merula will ask you to read out the rest of the message.
It looks like you’ll have to find a way to be at Borgin and Burkes during this secret meeting and for that, you will definitely need some help. Not only that, but you will need to find a way to disguise yourself. Perhaps Professor Flitwick might be able to help you.
There is a waiting period of four hours before you can continue. Since your energy is likely low at this point, it is recommended to wait and let it recharge in the meantime.
Head to the Charms classroom once the waiting time is over. Upon arriving, you will get to interact with some of the characters. Beatrice will ask you about the message you found.
You’ll mention the need to be present at the meeting, prompting Ismelda to ask an obvious question.
You will be quite convinced that the message was written by a member of ‘R’. Also, there is a matter of getting there unseen. Beatrice will ask you how you will avoid being caught, but thankfully, you have a plan.
You will say that you will ask Professor Flitwick to delve deeper into the history of Concealment charm so that you can spy on ‘R’s meeting. Moments later, Professor Flitwick will approach you.
You’ll quickly get to the point, and tell him that you hope you can talk to him about reviewing Concealment Charms.
Professor Flitwick will like the idea, but he will want to know if your friends are also interested in reviewing this particular charm. They will quickly step in to help you out and Beatrice will say that it is an excellent charm to review, Ismelda will say that she likes the idea of making people disappear, and Barnaby will say that he was probably asleep during the original lecture.
Thankfully, this will be enough to convince Flitwick. Apparently, he also plans to ask you a few questions after reviewing the spell. Discussing the history of Concealment Charm requires earning five stars within three hours. Three stars are needed to pass.
There are reward actions linked to Ismelda and Professor Flitwick. Focus on those actions if you want to save energy.
Once the review is over, Professor Flitwick will ask you some questions. The correct answer to the first question is ‘Hogwarts Express’.
As for the second question, the right answer is ‘Tap it with the end of your wand’.
You will thank the Professor for being kind enough to review this lesson, and once Flitwick leaves, Ismelda will ask if you plan on using the Disillusionment Charm on yourself. While you are quite confident in your spellcasting skills, you’ll say that it is always good to have some alternative plan, and perhaps Tonks and Tulip might be able to help you with that.
Proceed to Zonko’s Joke Shop when you are ready. Once you arrive, you will notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you want to see what they have to say. You will happily greet your friends.
After all that happened, Tonks and Tulip decided to visit Zonko to cheer themselves up. Bilton will notice the three of you talking, and he will join in on the conversation.
He’ll ask if any of you are planning some joyful pranks, and Tonks will admit that they don’t have anything specific planned yet. Bilton will offer to help them find inspiration for their next prank, but you’ll tell your friends that you need to talk with them about the Circle of Khanna. You’ll express concern about discussing it in front of Bilton, but Tulip will reassure you that there’s nothing to worry about.
Updating Tonks and Tulip requires earning five stars within eight hours. Three stars are needed to pass.
There are bonus actions linked to Tulip and the box of Fanged Frisbees. Prioritize those if you want to save some energy.
Shortly after, your friends will thank Bilton for advising them. Once he leaves, you will mention the black quill you found near the Whomping Willow, and you will say that it pointed you in the direction of Borgin and Burkes.
Tonks will inquire if you believe ‘R’ will be present, and you’ll affirm your plan to attend the meeting. You’ll also mention the importance of staying hidden and consider using the Disillusionment Charm as a precaution.
Tulip will mention she’s quite good when it comes to espionage. Thankfully, she will offer her help in case you need a disguise.
As for Tonks, being a Metamorphmagus, she can be incredibly helpful on this mission.
Tulip will ask if you think involving Tonks is a good idea. If you like her, it is recommended to accept her help.
Next, you will need to scout out Borgin and Burkes with the help of Jae. Unfortunately, you will have to wait around three hours before going there. Since you are likely low on energy at this point, it is recommended to wait until the timer runs out and let your energy replenish in the meantime.
Head to the Knockturn Alley once you are able to continue. Upon arriving, you will get to interact with some of the Knockturn denizens. After having a bit of small talk with Jae, you will mention the black quill you found at the Whomping Willow.
You’ll say you’re checking out Borgin and Burkes because it’s where they meet, and you need to find the right spot to spy on ‘R’ during their meeting. Jae will ask if you think Rakepick will be at the meeting, and you’ll answer, saying you hope she will be. He’ll then ask you an interesting question. There are three options to respond with. There is no wrong answer here, so pick the one you prefer.
Shortly after, Jae will say that he wants in on this mission. After all, is quite experienced when it comes to sneaking around and he also has the Invisibility Cloak. He’ll suggest looking around and finding the best place to spy on the meeting.
This requires earning five stars within three hours. All of the stars are needed to pass, so avoid starting this task if your energy is low.
There are reward actions linked to your character and the signpost. Focus on those if you want to save some energy.
When you are done scouting, you will have a general idea about the places where you can hide. Jae will also be very confident about this mission.
You will thank him for helping you. Moments later, he will notice Alistair walking nearby and he’ll decide to have a word with him.
Shortly after Jae leaves, a familiar figure will appear behind you.
Needless to say, this will surprise you quite a bit.
Apparently, Mad-Eye Moody has another surprise in store for you.
This will conclude Chapter 30 of Year 6. Hit the Collect button to claim your rewards. You will receive 250 Coins and 2000 Experience Points.
What kind of surprise does Mad-Eye Moody have for you? Does he know about your plan to spy on R’s meeting? Find out in the next chapter of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery.
