Chapter 31 – The Polyjuice Plan
Introduction
Hello everyone, welcome to our Walkthrough for Chapter Thirty-One of Year Six of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. During the previous chapter, Merula and you served detention in the Kitchens. While you were there, Jae gave you some tips on sneaking and he advised you to head to the Whomping Willow as soon as possible.
You followed his advice and managed to find a message at the Whomping Willow saying that there would be a meeting of Dark Wizards at Borgin and Burkes. You assumed it had something to do with ‘R’, so you decided to dig deeper.
Tulip and Tonks both offered their help, and you also went to Knockturn Alley with Jae to do some scouting. While you were there, you encountered Mad-Eye Moody, and he told you he had a surprise for you.

Walkthrough
But before you head to Hog’s Head Inn to find out what the surprise is, you should take care of the lessons. Proceed to the Charms classroom when you are ready. To unlock the Blue Sparks lesson, you need to acquire nine stars from Charms classes. Select the class duration that suits you and hit Start when you are ready to begin.
As always, focus on the bonus progress actions in order to save some energy.
As for the mini-tasks, completing each of them successfully will grant you some extra Empathy points.
Head back to the classroom once you obtain enough stars to unlock the lesson. Learning to cast Blue Sparks requires earning five stars within three hours. Since all five stars are needed to pass, it is not recommended to start this lesson if you are low on energy.
Some of the mini-tasks will be new here, so pay close attention to those.
Upon earning the fifth star, you’ll be tasked with casting Blue Sparks. Trace the wand movement to do so.
Hit the Collect button to claim your rewards. You can claim an additional reward in the Charms section of your Hogwarts Record.
Proceed to the Herbology classroom for the second lesson of the chapter. Unlocking the Moly lesson requires earning a total of nine stars from Herbology classes. Pick the class duration you prefer and hit Start when you are ready to begin.
Like previously, prioritize actions with bonus progress to save energy.
Successful completion of the mini-tasks will grant you bonus Empathy points.
Return to the greenhouse once you earn enough stars to unlock the lesson. To complete the Moly lesson, you need to acquire five stars within three hours. All five stars are required to pass, which is why you shouldn’t start this lesson with an empty energy bar.
Pay attention to some of Professor Sprout’s questions during this lesson.
Upon earning the fifth star, you’ll be tasked with fertilizing your plant. Trace the path on the screen to do so.
When you are done, hit the Collect button to claim your rewards. You’ll earn an additional reward for completing the lesson. You can claim it in the Herbology section of your Hogwarts Record.
When you are ready, proceed to Hog’s Head Inn to meet with Mad-Eye Moody. Upon arriving, you’ll be able to interact with some of the characters and check out what they have to say. You’ll ask Mad-Eye Moody why he wanted to meet with you in the Hog’s Head Inn.
He’ll quickly explain his reasons.
Also, he will say that his Auror training tells him that you’re planning something dangerous.
Mad-Eye Moody will remind you that Knockturn Alley is a very dangerous place for young witches and wizards. He’ll be curious to know why you are acting so recklessly. There are two options to choose from. This choice won’t have any significant impact on the story, so feel free to take your pick.
You’ll then tell him about your recent discoveries.
Needless to say, he’ll want to hear more. To fill in Mad-Eye Moody requires earning five stars within eight hours. All five stars are needed to pass.
There are two bonus actions linked to your character here. Prioritize those actions if you want to save some energy.
When you are done, you will sum things up, and say that the clues you found at the Whomping Willow suggested a Dark wizard meeting is coming up soon and that you want to spy on it. Mad-Eye Moody will be impressed, to say the least.
He will say that he is glad that you thought about disguises using charms and other methods. However, he will suggest you take this to the next level.
He will advise you that you cannot spy on ‘R’ from afar, but you can become one of them. Still, ‘R’ wouldn’t let a Hogwarts student join their ranks just like that.
Mad-Eye Moody will try to be a bit more specific about it.
That makes much more sense. Perhaps Penny might be able to help you with this. Unfortunately, she is busy for another two hours. Since you are likely low on energy at this point, it is recommended to wait and let your energy recharge in the meantime.
Head to the Three Broomsticks once the waiting time is over. When you arrive, you will notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. You’ll get straight to the point and inform Penny about your plan.
You will tell her that after talking with Mad-Eye Moody, you realized that the best way is to infiltrate the organization.
Unfortunately, she will be very hesitant to help you. If you completed the Polyjuice Potion side quest, you’ll get some additional lines of dialogue here. Penny will tell you that brewing Polyjuice Potion is extremely difficult.
Since your life will be at stake, she simply won’t be willing to take that risk. In the end, you’ll have to persuade Penny to help you. The task window will display the recommended attribute levels as well as the cost of each attempt.
Simply try to pick the answers that will reassure Penny. The questions and answers to them are shown below.
- Why does it have to be me? – You’re a brilliant Potioneer. (Empathy)
- Can’t you try another disguise? – I’m sure this is the safest plan. (Empathy)
- Polyjuice Potions are too risky – It’s worth it to stop Rakepick. (Courage)
- We could get in trouble at school – But we could also save lives. (Empathy)
- What if it wears off too soon? – I’ll have a foolproof backup plan. (Empathy)
- Why do we have to do this now? – Because Rowan deserves justice. (Knowledge)
You will earn some friendship experience with Penny after completing this task.
In the end, you’ll successfully persuade Penny to assist you, and she’ll request a meeting at the Training Grounds.
Go there when you are ready to continue. Upon arriving, you will get to interact with some of the characters and check out what they have to say. Before you start gathering the ingredients, Penny will remind you how dangerous your whole plan is.
She’ll ask if you are worried about it. There are three options to pick from. These won’t have a significant impact on the story, so feel free to take your pick.
Penny will insist on following the recipe precisely and mentions that she intends to gather the first ingredient at the Training Grounds. This leaves you a bit puzzled because you’re unsure what you’re supposed to look for. However, Penny offers a hint to help you out.
Shortly after, you will start gathering lacewing flies. To do that, you need to obtain five stars within three hours. Three stars are required to pass.
There are reward actions linked to your character and the jars. Focus on those if you want to save a bit of energy.
Luckily enough, you’ll end up with plenty of lacewing flies and your Hufflepuff friend will remind you of one important fact about brewing the Polyjuice Potion, which is that The Polyjuice Potion needs a month to brew. Hopefully, you will have enough time before ‘R’’s meeting.
According to Penny, you can find the next ingredients in the Potions classroom.
However, you will have to wait four hours before you can proceed. Given that you’ll likely be out of energy at this point, it is recommended to wait, especially since the chapter is not time-limited.
Head to the Potions classroom once the waiting time is over. It seems that Penny already gathered some of the ingredients.
You’ll be lucky to find some Boomslang skin, and that’s when you’ll hear a familiar voice behind you.
The Potions Master will be curious to know what business have you in his classroom. It is somewhat recommended to be honest and tell him you’re collecting the ingredients.
Regardless of your choice, Professor Snape will notice the ingredients you are carrying.
He will start telling you some interesting facts about the Polyjuice Potion.
You will then get to hear more about it. This requires earning five stars within three hours. Three stars are needed to pass.
The only bonus action here is tied to your character, so prioritize it whenever it is available.
You’ll thank Professor Snape for telling you all about the Polyjuice Potion and he will say a few more words before leaving the classroom.
Interestingly enough, the Potion Master won’t confiscate the ingredients you took. Still, there are some other things you’ll need to do.
Also, there is only one member of ‘R’ you know of.
In other words, you’ll need to use the Polyjuice Potion to turn into Patricia Rakepick.
This will conclude Chapter 31 of Year 6. Hit the Collect button to claim your rewards. You will receive 250 Coins and 2000 Experience Points.
Will you be able to gather all of the ingredients for the Polyjuice Potion? Find out in the next chapter of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery.
