Chapter 36 – Search For The Mole

Introduction

Hello everyone, welcome to our Walkthrough for Chapter Thirty-Six of Year Six of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. Previously, you did final preparations before heading to Knockturn Alley to infiltrate ‘R’’s meeting. The Polyjuice Potion worked as intended, and you successfully transformed into Patricia Rakepick.

Upon arriving at the place of the meeting, you noticed the Wizard in White Robes talking to a Dark Witch. You infiltrated their meeting and learned that ‘R’ has a mole in Hogwarts. However, before learning who the mole is, the real Rakepick showed up and the battle ensues. Thankfully, both Jacob and Mad-Eye Moody showed up, and thanks to their help, and the help of your friends, you forced Rakepick to retreat.

Most importantly, Mad-Eye Moody managed to capture Mahoutokoro Wizard, and later on, the two of you interrogated him. Unfortunately, you didn’t get any information about the mole from him, so now your main goal is to find out who the mole is.

When you are done, hit the Collect button to claim your rewards. You will be able to claim an additional reward in the Herbology section of your Hogwarts Record.

year 6 chapter 36 1200

Now that you’re done with the lessons, you can start looking for ‘R’’s mole. Filch is the first person for you to interrogate. Go to his office when you are ready. Merula and you decided to “accidentally” drop some sticky Blood Pop on Mrs. Norris to draw the Caretaker’s attention.

year 6 chapter 36 1220

The Most Powerful Witch at Hogwarts will find your plan quite amusing. In any case, this will be your chance to get his attention and to interrogate Filch and see if he is the mole. Still, figuring it out won’t be an easy task. You will have to ask the right questions and see his reaction. Hopefully, that way you will be able to figure out if he’s working for ‘R’ or not.

year 6 chapter 36 1270

Moments later, Merula will warn you that Filch is coming back. As soon as he enters the office, you will feel a lot of anger and negativity radiating from him. Needless to say, he won’t be happy with what you did to Mrs. Norris.

year 6 chapter 36 1290
year 6 chapter 36 1300

You’ll hear her meowing from the other side of the door.

year 6 chapter 36 1310

Apparently, she won’t let anyone near her, not even the Caretaker. Filch will give you one chance to explain yourself. While this choice won’t have any big impact on the overall story, if you don’t want to anger the Caretaker, you should pick the option to appease him.

year 6 chapter 36 1330

Filch will say that the students have no respect for him or Mrs. Norris. Merula and you will try to push him a little further.

year 6 chapter 36 1350
year 6 chapter 36 1360

By the looks of it, he cares deeply for Hogwarts, he’ll say that Hogwarts has given him a home and job for years, and he has the utmost respect for the Headmaster. As it appears, he is angry at you for what you did to Mrs. Norris.

You’ll say that he is absolutely right and Merula will smile cheekily and say it was just an accident. Unfortunately, the Caretaker won’t believe it. After all, he did see you dropping the candy on his cat. You’ll try to explain you didn’t do it on purpose.

year 6 chapter 36 1440

Unfortunately, Merula won’t be able to keep a straight face while trying to convince Filch it was only an accident. Filch will be very eager to take you to the Headmaster.

year 6 chapter 36 1470

Suddenly, he will hear Mrs. Norris meowing from the corridor.

year 6 chapter 36 1490

It looks like you’ve avoided getting detention by the skin of your teeth and the Caretaker will decide to leave and see if Professor McGonagall can do something to help Mrs. Norris.

year 6 chapter 36 1520

Once he leaves the office, Merula and you will review what you learned. This requires earning five stars within three hours. Three stars are needed to pass.

year 6 chapter 36 1550

There are two reward actions linked to your character. Focus on those actions if you want to save as much energy as possible.

year 6 chapter 36 1560

Once you are done, you will realize that Filch cares too much for Hogwarts to be the mole. Also, he holds a lot of respect for Professor Dumbledore, so he is most likely not the person you’re looking for and Merula will agree with you.

year 6 chapter 36 1600

For the next phase of the investigation, she’ll recommend splitting up to avoid drawing attention. You’ll request her assistance in keeping Filch occupied while you question other potential suspects. Speaking of suspects, your next interrogation target will be Madam Hooch.

This time, you will decide to have Ben accompany you. There will be a waiting period of three hours before you can continue. Since your energy is most likely low at this point, it is recommended to wait, and let it recharge in the meantime.

year 6 chapter 36 1650

Head to the Training Grounds once the waiting time is over. Upon arriving, you’ll get to interact with some of the characters and see what they have to say. Luckily, you arrived just in time.

year 6 chapter 36 1680

One thing’s for certain, you’ll have to figure out who the mole is as soon as possible. Ben will remind you that Madam Hooch is one of the top suspects because her competitive nature makes her seem like someone who would want the power of the Cursed Vaults.

Afterward, you’ll let him know about your earlier interrogation. You’ll say that you’re Merula and that you’ve been asking Flich questions to find out if he’s angry at Hogwarts and to gauge if he is hungry for power.

Perhaps you can take a similar approach to determine whether Madam Hooch is the mole or not. You will then get to choose how to start the conversation with her. There are two options to pick from. While there are some dialogue differences, both options will end up with the same outcome, so feel free to pick either one.

year 6 chapter 36 1760

Moments later, Madam Hooch will notice both you and Ben and become curious about the purpose of your visit.

year 6 chapter 36 1770

The following lines will differ, depending on your previous choice. If you choose to talk about Quidditch, Madam Hooch will happily agree to answer your questions. Otherwise, you will have to convince her, but she will eventually agree to talk to you.

year 6 chapter 36 1780
year 6 chapter 36 1790
year 6 chapter 36 1800

You will ask her a question. If you started with Quidditch, you’ll ask if she thinks Quidditch makes one power-hungry. Otherwise, you will ask her if being competitive and focused on sports can make a person hungry for power.

year 6 chapter 36 1810

You’ll then get to interrogate Madam Hooch. This requires earning five stars within three hours. Three stars are needed to pass.

year 6 chapter 36 1820

There are reward actions linked to Madam Hooch and Ben. Prioritize those if you are looking to save some energy.

year 6 chapter 36 1830

Madam Hooch will say a few words once you’re done asking questions. She will say that athlete’s power comes from within, they shouldn’t need to find it elsewhere. She’ll also add that good athlete honors their colleagues and teammates above all and has pride in where they compete. You will be amazed by her passion for sports, but unfortunately, she won’t be too happy about having to answer all of your questions.

year 6 chapter 36 1880

She’ll say that she’s dealt with a lot of fools lately. As it appears, someone’s been flying over the Black Lake quite trying to divebom below the surface recently.

year 6 chapter 36 1910

You’ll say that you know nothing about it before apologizing for wasting her time. Madam Hooch, however, will decide to find out who flew over the Black Lake. Once she’s gone, you’ll mention to Ben that you don’t think she’s the mole for ‘R’, and he’ll agree with you. But, there’s still a chance that the mystery flyer might be the one you’re after.

year 6 chapter 36 1970

This suggests that ‘R’ is aware that the last Cursed Vault might be beneath the surface of the Black Lake. In any case, you’ll decide that the best course of action would be finding out who the mole is and Ben’ll agree with you.

Professor Snape will be the next suspect for you to interrogate. Once again, you will have to wait three hours until you can proceed. Since there is no time limit on the chapter, and you will probably be low on energy at this point, it is recommended to wait and let your energy replenish in the meantime.

year 6 chapter 36 2020

Head to the Potions classroom once the waiting time is over. When you arrive, you will notice that the Potions Master is alone in the classroom.

year 6 chapter 36 2040

Before you start questioning Snape, you’ll hope that he doesn’t notice your goal before you reveal the truth. Snape will approach you and ask what you are doing in his classroom and you’ll get straight to the point by asking him about Patricia Rakepick. He’ll say there’s been more than enough talk about your former Defence Against the Dark Arts Professor, so you will try to pick your next words carefully.

year 6 chapter 36 2090

Snape will wonder why you are suddenly asking about Rakepick and he’ll ask if you changed your mind about her. There are two options to choose from. Both of these will lead to the same outcome, so feel free to pick either one.

year 6 chapter 36 2110

You will continue talking about Rakepick to test Snape’s reaction.

year 6 chapter 36 2120

You will add that maybe she was just power-hungry, as many people do, but unfortunately, the Potions Master will be incredibly hard to read.

year 6 chapter 36 2140

You’ll then decide to ask him about his views on what’s right or wrong. Interrogating Snape requires earning five stars within three hours. Three stars are needed to pass.

year 6 chapter 36 2160

There are two bonus actions tied to Professor Snape. Prioritize his actions if you want to save some energy.

year 6 chapter 36 2170

When you are done interrogating, you will boldly tell Snape he doesn’t seem to want to indicate a side. As much as he’ll be annoyed by your questions, he will decide to make things perfectly clear.

year 6 chapter 36 2190
year 6 chapter 36 2200

He will point out that killing is always wrong, and all this talk will make him very suspicious of you. He’ll add that he warned you no less than three times to drop these ill-advised adventures and focus on being a student, which you will use as an opportunity to figure out if he is the mole.

year 6 chapter 36 2250

You will tell him that you find it suspicious, which will cause his anger.

year 6 chapter 36 2270

Sadly, before getting to ask him anything else, Barnaby will barge into the classroom saying there’s an emergency in the Library.

Proceed to the Library to find out what the emergency is. When you arrive, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Apparently, another student has been struck by the Statue Curse. Professor Snape will try to calm everyone down.

year 6 chapter 36 2310
year 6 chapter 36 2320

Barnaby will be pretty upset about this.

year 6 chapter 36 2340

Unfortunately, you haven’t had much success interrogating the mole suspects that would help you find the final Cursed Vault, and break the curse. Barnaby will ask if you want to talk about it. Reviewing mole suspects requires earning five stars within eight hours. All five stars are needed to pass.

year 6 chapter 36 2380

There are reward actions linked to Barnaby and your character. Focus on those if you want to save a bit of energy.

year 6 chapter 36 2390

You will sum things up once you’re done filling him in and you’ll say that Flich and Madam Hooch seem clean, but that Snape is suspicious to you. Barnaby will ask if you think Snape is the mole. There are two options to choose from. This choice won’t impact the story in any significant way, so feel free to pick the option you prefer.

year 6 chapter 36 2420

You’ll also update Barnaby on the mystery flier Madam Hooch mentioned and inform him that the mole is attempting to reach the final Cursed Vault before you do.

year 6 chapter 36 2450

Anyhow, the most important thing is to find the final Cursed Vault and break its curse as soon as possible. To put it simply, the spy investigation will have to wait for now. You’ll decide that the best plan is to search the depths of the Black Lake, and for that, you’ll need a way to breathe underwater.

The Bubble-Head Charm will be your first thought and you’ll add that this charm allows you to breathe underwater and that now would be the perfect time to review it.

year 6 chapter 36 2540

Proceed to the Charms classroom when you are ready. You will thank your friends for meeting you to review the Bubble-Head Charm.

year 6 chapter 36 2560

Needless to say, mastering this charm will be incredibly important if you are to beat ‘R’ to the final Cursed Vault. You will say that when Madam Hooch told you about the mystery flier attempting to dive-bomb into the Black Lake and when you saw another student stricken with the statue Curse you decided to get to the Cursed Vault fast.

Then you’ll suggest to review the Bubble-Head charm. Reviewing the Bubble-Head Charm requires earning five stars within an hour. Only one star is needed to pass.

year 6 chapter 36 2600

There are two bonus actions linked to Barnaby. Prioritize his actions if you want to save some energy.

year 6 chapter 36 2610

Ben will summarize the most important thing about the Bubble-Head charm, which is that the bubble will fill with oxygen allowing you to breathe in water. Afterward, he’ll ask if there’s anything you are worried about. There are three options to choose from. None of these will have any major impact on the story, so feel free to take your pick.

year 6 chapter 36 2630

Barnaby will say some nice words to boost your confidence.

year 6 chapter 36 2640

You will then get to try casting the charm. Trace the wand movement to do so.

year 6 chapter 36 2660

Thankfully, the spell will work as intended.

year 6 chapter 36 2670

Ben will point out that dangerous and all kinds of creatures lurk beneath the Black Lake. You, on the other hand, will be quite confident about entering the lake.

year 6 chapter 36 2700

This will mark the end of Chapter 36 of Year 6. Hit the Collect button to claim your rewards.

What awaits you beneath the Black Lake? Will you find anything that could lead you to the final Cursed Vault? Find out in the next chapter of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. You will receive 300 Coins and 2000 Experience Points.

Thank you for reading.
