Chapter 39 – Gather The Merqueen’s Tribute
introduction
Hello everyone, welcome to our Walkthrough for Chapter Thirty-Nine of Year Six of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. Last time, you asked the Weird Sisters to hold a concert near Black Lake. While they liked the idea, they told you that Kirley’s guitar had been confiscated by Mr. Filch. You immediately offered to retrieve it in return for them holding a concert at the lake.
They agreed, and you used your wits and some cheeky charm to obtain the guitar. Later on, the Weird Sisters had an amazing rock concert at the lake, and even some of the merpeople were drawn by their music. One of those was the merwoman you met when you first entered the lake. Thankfully, this time she was much friendlier, and she waved at you to follow her into the lake.
Once you went there, you asked the merwoman if she or any other merperson knew anything about the Cursed Vault. She introduced you to the Merqueen, and after talking to her, you learned that some of her treasures were damaged. You offered to bring her new versions of those items in exchange for her help with locating the final vault.

Walkthrough
Now is the time to look for the items in question, but before that, you should take care of the lessons. Proceed to the Potions classroom when you are ready. To unlock the Essence of Insanity lesson, you need to earn nine stars from Potions classes. Select the class duration suitable to your liking and hit Start to begin.
If you want to save as much energy as possible, prioritize actions with bonus progress whenever you see them available.
As for the mini-tasks, successfully completing each of these will award you some Knowledge points.
Return to the classroom once you earn enough stars to unlock the lesson. Learning how to brew the Essence of Insanity requires obtaining five stars within three hours. All five stars are needed to pass, which is why you shouldn’t start this lesson if you are low on energy.
Pay attention to Professor Snape’s question during the lesson. Other than that, it is fairly similar to most of the usual classes.
When you are done, hit the Collect button to claim your rewards. You can collect an additional reward in the Potions section of your Hogwarts Record.
Head to the Care of Magical Creatures to attend the second lesson of the chapter. Unlocking the Golden Snidget lesson requires earning a total of nine stars from the Care of Magical Creatures classes. Choose the class duration you prefer and hit Start once you are ready to begin.
Like always, focus on bonus progress actions whenever they’re up. This will save you some energy.
Successfully completing each of the mini-tasks will award you some Courage points.
Return to the Care of Magical Creatures when you obtain enough stars to unlock the lesson. To complete the Golden Snidget lesson, you need to earn five stars within three hours. Since all five stars are needed to pass, it is not recommended to start this lesson if your energy is low.
During this lesson, Professor Kettleburn will ask you a question about the Golden Snidget.
Upon earning the fifth star, you’ll be tasked with feeding this magical creature. Trace the path on the screen to do so.
Hit the Collect button to claim your rewards. You’ll earn an additional reward for completing the lesson. You can claim it in the Care of Magical Creatures section of your Hogwarts Record.
You can continue the story now that you’re done with the lessons. Head to the Clocktower Courtyard to meet with your friends. Upon arriving, you will be able to interact with some of the characters and see what they have to say to you. As it appears, your friends already know about your trip into the Black Lake.
Chiara will say she is fascinated by the merpeople and their village. As for Penny, she will find it hard to believe that you had the chance to meet the Merqueen. Talbott will simply say that finding the final Cursed Vault should be your top priority, and he’s glad you managed to find a lead to it.
Shortly after, Penny will ask about your favorite part of going into the Black Lake. There are three options to reply with. While these won’t have any big influence on the story, picking each of the options will have your character agree with one of your friends.
If you like Chiara, it is recommended to pick the first option. If you want to agree with Penny, you should go with the second option. Lastly, if you like Talbott, it is recommended to pick the third option.
You will tell your friends about the items you need to obtain for the Merqueen.
Hopefully, she will take you to the final Cursed Vault if you deliver those items to her. Talbott will ask you if you’re sure she knows where the cursed vault is.
Unfortunately, you won’t be able to say you are absolutely sure about it, but it is still the best chance you have. You’ll also say you have the feeling that the Merqueen can be trusted and by the looks of it, you’re not the only one who thinks that way.
You’ll then get to talk to your friends about the tribute items. This requires earning five stars within three hours. Since all five stars are needed to pass, it is not recommended to start this task if your energy is low.
There are two bonus actions linked to your character. Prioritize those actions if you want to save as much energy as possible.
Penny will sum things up once you’re done discussing.
According to her, gathering those items should be fairly easy, but Talbott won’t be too sure about it. After all, finding a lyre that can easily be brought underwater might prove difficult. Luckily, Chiara will come up with a practical solution to this problem.
You’ll tell Chiara that it is a good idea, and Penny will suggest getting the comb last since that item should be the easiest one to procure. Then, there is a matter of finding a jeweled necklace. Obtaining such an item might prove difficult, but luckily, there might be a person who can help you with that.
Head to the Great Hall when you are ready to meet with Alanza. Once you arrive, you will notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you are interested to see what they have to say. You will thank Alanza for agreeing to have lunch with you.
She’ll be delighted about the invitation, and you’ll guess that her popularity has soared after the Weird Sisters’ concert. Alanza will thank you for your kind words and remind you that you also had a part in organizing the concert.
In any case, that concert was definitely a huge success and so was your meeting with the merpeople. You will inform Alanza about the items you need to gather in order to get the Merqueen to lead you to the final Cursed Vault. You’ll also ask if she could do you a favor.
You’ll ask if she could donate her jeweled necklace for the Merqueen and she’ll say that she does have a jeweled necklace, but she isn’t really keen on giving it away. You will then decide to try and persuade Alanza to help you. To do that, you need to obtain five stars within an hour. Only one star is needed to pass.
There are reward actions linked to Alanza and your character. Prioritize those actions to save energy.
Alanza will agree that you have valid reasons for wanting to beat ‘R’ to the final vault. She’ll also point out that you are far too preoccupied with your mission. In other words, she will agree to give you the necklace on one condition. She will ask you to tell her about one fun thing you’ve always wanted to do but never did. There are two options to pick from. Simply be honest with her, and pick the option you prefer.
Alanza will admit that you have a fun side, and she’ll agree to give you her jeweled necklace.
You’ll thank her for her help, and then Alanza will ask about the next item. You’ll say you need a lyre and hope that Jae can assist with it. You will need to wait three hours until Jae is ready to meet with you. Since you will most likely be low on energy at this point, it is recommended to wait and let your energy recharge in the meantime.
Proceed to the Kitchens once the waiting time is over. You will greet Jae happily when you arrive, and you’ll also notice that Pitts is slightly angry at your friend.
You’ll ask him if you can have a moment alone with Jae. Pitts will be surprised by your question. There are two options to try and convince him. Both of these will lead to a similar outcome, so feel free to pick either one.
Eventually, Pitts will agree to let Jae take a break.
Jae will thank you for convincing Pitts and ask if he can assist you in any way. You’ll then tell him about your meeting with the Merqueen.
You’ll tell him about your need for three tribute items, including a lyre, and ask if he can help. Jae will be glad you’re seeking his assistance and mention that getting a lyre isn’t easy. Perhaps the two of you can try and figure out how to acquire the item in question.
Talking to Jae requires earning five stars within three hours. Three stars are needed to pass.
There are two bonus actions linked to Jae. Prioritize his actions if you are looking to save some energy.
Jae will say that getting a lyre might be hard, and you’ll agree, believing in his skills to find one. You’ll also remind him why you’re doing all this in the first place.
In the end, Jae will agree to get you the item you’re looking for. He’ll also say that working in the Kitchens isn’t particularly fun, which is another reason he’s up for the task. Now, you’ll need to find the easiest item on the list – a fine comb.
Proceed to the Prefect’s Bathroom when you are ready to continue. When you arrive, you’ll thank Charlie for agreeing to help you search the Prefect’s Bathroom.
It seems that finding a fine comb is proving much tougher than you initially thought, as all the combs in Hogwarts have strangely disappeared. You’ll say you haven’t found a single comb yet, and according to Charlie, other Circle of Khanna members are having the same problem. Shortly after, You’ll inform him about your meeting with the Merqueen.
You will add it if you do she might lead you to the last Cursed Vault. Thankfully, you managed to scratch two out of three items from that list.
Unfortunately, there’s another item you’ve yet to find, and without it, you won’t be able to fulfill your promise to the Merqueen. Even worse, this could result in ‘R’ finding the final Cursed Vault before you. Hopefully, you will be able to figure out where the combs went, or at least find someone who knows where they are.
Moments later, Duncan Ashe will show up. As it seems, he might know something about the missing combs. He will ask if you are happy to see him again. There are two options to choose from. If you like Duncan, it is recommended to pick the first option. Otherwise, feel free to go with either one.
Duncan has information about the missing combs, and Duncan will smile wickedly, suggesting he might know something. You’ll stress the importance of him revealing the combs’ location and then decide to share why you need them. Talking to Duncan requires earning five stars within three hours. Three stars are needed to pass.
The only reward action here is linked to Duncan. Focus on his actions if you want to save a bit of energy.
Both Charlie and you will try your best to convince Duncan to tell you where the combs are.
Unfortunately, he won’t be willing to help you this time.
He’ll say you need to solve this puzzle alone, then he’ll leave the Prefect’s Bathroom. You’ll have to find another way to learn where the combs are. But you won’t give up easily, so you’ll start looking for clues in the bathroom. Suddenly, you will notice Tulip’s toad, Dennis.
This will remind Charlie of the frog spawn prank you pulled on him before.
With Dennis being in the Prefect’s Bathroom, you will assume that Tulip has something to do with the missing combs. Charlie will ask what you’re doing next, and you’ll say you’re going to meet Tulip to see if she has the combs.
Sadly, you will have to wait four hours until she’s ready to meet with you. Since you are likely low on energy at this point, it is recommended to wait and let your energy replenish in the meantime.
Proceed to the West Towers Corridor once the waiting time is over. When you arrive, you will notice Tulip standing in the corridor, accompanied by the Weasley twins.
Dennis will happily hop to her, and she will be very pleased to see him.
When you meet them, you’ll tell them that you and Charlie found Dennis in the Prefect’s Bathroom and found it strange that Tulip’s toad was there. Even though Fred will try to deny it, you’ll directly ask if they had anything to do with the missing combs.
The twins will feel offended by your question. Fred will ask if you are implying that they stole the combs. There are two options to reply with. While both of these will lead to the same outcome, it is recommended to pick the second option if you like the Weasley twins.
You will point at the cauldron full of combs, and Tulip will tell the twins they did a lousy job hiding them. George will say that they are planning to return all of the combs to their owners.
Apparently, they want to pull out a prank of epic proportions.
You will then get to talk to them. This requires earning five stars within eight hours. All five stars are needed to pass.
There are bonus actions linked to Fred and George. Prioritize their actions if you want to save some energy.
Your friends will give you some details about the prank they are planning.
You will admit that their prank does sound quite funny. After all, you were pranking other people more than once, so you know a thing or two when it comes to making mischief. Still, you will ask them to give you one of the combs. The twins will be against giving you the comb since that could diminish the potential of their prank.
You will tell them you need a comb in order to get to the final Cursed Vault.
Fred will feel a little sad when he learns why you need one of the combs, but thankfully, Tulip will support you, emphasizing the importance of helping. Eventually, they’ll agree to let you have one of the combs.
You’ll thank them for helping, and Tulip will say you can pick any comb you want from the cauldron. You will look for a while before picking a fancy-looking comb. Hopefully, it will be a suitable gift for the Merqueen.
You will wish your friends good luck with their prank before leaving the corridor.
Shortly after, Chapter 39 of Year 6 will conclude. Hit the Collect button to claim your rewards. You will receive 300 Coins and 2000 Experience Points.
You now have two out of three tribute items for the Merqueen. You still need to wait for Jae to find a lyre. And since you’ll most likely go into the final Cursed Vault soon, it might be a good idea to prepare for it.
Thank you for reading and see you soon with another chapter of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery!
