Chapter 45 – The Message

Introduction

Hello everyone, welcome to our Walkthrough for Chapter Forty-Five of Year Six of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. Previously, you decided to hold a party to celebrate everything nice about Hogwarts. You asked Penny and Alanza to help you organize the party, and they were absolutely thrilled about it. You went to Hogsmeade and asked Madam Rosmerta to let you hold the party at the Three Broomsticks. Initially, she was against it, but the three of you helped her, so in the end, she agreed to your proposition.

You then went to Zonko’s Joke Shop to get some pranks for the party. Thankfully, the Weasley twins were happy to assist you with picking some nice items. Later on, you asked the Weird Sisters to perform at the party, and they were more than willing to do so. Also, Penny informed all of your friends about the party, and soon enough, everyone was having a great time at the Three Broomsticks. After a while, Jae informed you that Mundungus Fletcher wanted to have a word with you, and you agreed to talk to him.

But before that, you should take care of the lessons. Proceed to the Herbology classroom when you are ready for the first lesson of the chapter. To unlock the Sopophorous Plant lesson, you need to obtain nine stars from Herbology classes. Select the class duration you prefer and hit Start to begin.

As always, prioritizing bonus actions should save you some energy.

Also, try your best to successfully complete all of the mini-tasks to earn some bonus Empathy points.

Return to the classroom once you obtain enough stars to unlock the lesson. To complete the Sopophorous Plant lesson, you need to earn five stars within three hours. All five stars are needed to pass, which is why you shouldn’t start this lesson if your energy is low.

Professor Sprout will ask you a question related to the topic of the lesson, so be sure to answer it correctly.

Once you are done, head to the Potions classroom to attend the second lesson of the chapter. Unlocking the Garrotting Gas lesson requires earning a total of nine stars from Potions classes. Choose the class duration suitable to your liking and hit Start to begin.

Just like before, focus on reward actions to save as much energy as possible.

As for the mini-tasks, complete them successfully to earn some extra Knowledge points.

Head back to the classroom once you acquire enough stars to unlock the lesson. Learning how to brew the Garrotting Gas requires earning five stars within three hours. It is recommended not to start this lesson if your energy bar is empty since all five stars are needed to pass.

This lesson is fairly similar to most of the regular classes, apart from a question you’ll be asked by Professor Snape.

Upon earning the fifth star, you’ll need to wave your wand over the cauldron to finish the potion. Trace the wand movement to do so.

Once you’re done with the lessons, proceed to Ollivanders to meet with Jae and Mundungus. You will be curious to know why Fletcher wanted to meet with you.

He’ll see that you are not very friendly, but Jae will explain to him that his message interrupted your gathering. Mundungus will reassure you by saying that the information will certainly be interesting to you. Following that Fletcher will ask Ollivander to tell you everything he told him. Mr. Ollivander will say that the wicked witch recently came to his shop and asked for your wand.

Needless to say, you’ll be surprised to hear that the witch wanted to know everything about your wand.

Jae will ask if you think that the Dark Witch is associated with ‘R’. There are two options to choose from. Other than some minor dialogue differences, this choice won’t have any big impact on the story, so feel free to take your pick.

You will then ask Mr. Ollivander to tell you everything about the Dark Witch. Listening to Ollivander requires earning five stars within an hour. Only one star is needed to pass.

Since there’s no waiting period before the next task, it is highly recommended to earn a single star and wait for the timer to run out.

All of you will sum things up once Ollivander is done talking about the Dark Witch.

You’ll figure out that the Dark Witch who asked about your wand might be the same one you saw at Knockturn Alley during the ‘R’ meeting and Jae will agree with you. Luckily, Mr. Ollivander didn’t give away any information about your wand to the Dark Witch.

You’ll thank him for the information but still wonder why the Dark Witch was curious about your wand. Mundungus will suggest there’s more to this mystery, and it seems you’ll have to go to Flourish and Blotts for the next clue.

Proceed there when you are ready. Upon arriving, you will be able to interact with some of the characters and see what they have to say. Upon greeting Madam Villanelle, you will ask her about the information Fletcher mentioned.

Apparently, she isn’t too fond of Mundungus, especially when he drops by five times in a single day.

You’ll tell her you’re interested to hear what she has to say and she’ll tell you that a Dark Witch came in to ask about you.

You’ll ask Madam Villanelle to tell you everything she can remember about the Dark Witch. Talking to Madam Villanelle requires earning five stars within an hour. Only one star is needed to pass.

Normally, it would be recommended to earn a single star and wait for the timer to run out. However, there’s a waiting period afterward, which is why you should probably finish this task as soon as possible. Also, there’s a reward action linked to Madam Villanelle.

After speaking with her, you’ll be sure that the same Dark Witch from Ollivander’s was asking about you. It turns out she was inquiring about books and subjects that both you and Jacob were interested in, which strikes you as very strange. Madam Villanelle will mention that the books someone reads can tell a lot about their personality.

You’ll assume she didn’t find out any information, and luckily, your assumption will be right, as the Dark Witch left Flourish and Blotts without learning anything.

Madam Villanelle will add that she cares about her customers and doesn’t give their information to shady witches and wizards. You’ll thank her for telling you about the Dark Witch. She’ll warn you to be careful because this witch might have talked to others about you. As you think about it, you’ll realize that the Hogwarts mole might have been in contact with the Dark Witch.

Mundungus will ask if you have any idea who the mole might be. There are two options to choose from. This choice won’t have any big impact on the story, so feel free to pick either option.

Regardless, you’ll decide to stay alert and find out why the Dark Witch is curious about you. You’ll also need to locate her, and it seems that Mundungus may have an idea to help with that.

You’ll have to wait three hours until he is ready to meet with you. Since you are most likely low on energy at this point, it is recommended to wait and let your energy recharge in the meantime.

Proceed to the Hog’s Head Inn once the waiting time is over. When you arrive, you will notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you’re interested to see what they have to say. Fletcher will tell you to lay low and avoid calling him by his name.

Apparently, he was banned from the Hog’s Head Inn a while back. You’ll be interested in finding out why he chose to meet at a place where he’s not allowed. You’ll also remind him that you should be focusing on locating the Dark Witch. Mundungus will point to one of the tables, and you’ll look over and see the Dark Witch sitting there.

Fletcher will ask if you are sure it’s the same Dark Witch you saw at ‘R’’s meeting. There are two options to reply with. Both of these will lead to the same outcome, so feel free to take your pick.

Soon after, Mundungus will suggest eavesdropping on the Dark Witch. This requires earning five stars within three hours. Three stars are needed to pass.

The only bonus action here is tied to your character, so focus on your own actions if you want to save a bit of energy. Also, be sure to slide the screen left and right to see all the available actions.

After eavesdropping for a while, you will be certain that the Dark Witch is the same one you saw at ‘R’’s meeting. You also heard her say something about meeting someone very soon.

Suddenly, you will see her getting ready to leave, so both you and Fletcher will quickly hide.

Fortunately, you’ll manage to hide just in the nick of time. After the danger has passed, you’ll release a sigh of relief. Mundungus will question why the Dark Witch is so interested in you, and you’ll ponder whether it’s related to what the Wizard in White Robes mentioned about ‘R’.

Fletcher will assume you won’t be sharing that information with him, but you’ll explain there’s no time for that because the Dark Witch is likely meeting the Hogwarts informant soon. Regrettably, you still haven’t discovered the location of their meeting. Mundungus will wear a grin and suggest he might have a lead on it.

Thankfully, he will inform you as soon as he finds out for sure and ask you to bring the Invisibility Cloak with you. It will take him approximately four hours to get ready. In the meantime, you should wait and let your energy replenish.

Go to Knockturn Alley once the waiting time is over. When you get there, you’ll be surprised to find only Fletcher and you in the alley. Evidently, Mundungus wanted to arrive before the meeting.

There are still plenty of unanswered questions you’ll be curious about.

Mundungus will tell you not to worry and suggest talking about everything you’ve learned so far. This requires earning five stars within eight hours. All five stars are needed to pass.

There are reward actions linked to your character and a skeleton inside Borgin and Burkes. Prioritize these if you want to save as much energy as possible.

You will sum up the things you know about the Dark Witch.

Sadly, you won’t get much information, and many of your questions will go unanswered. You’ll double-check with Mundungus to make sure the meeting is happening and he’ll offer to buy you Butterbeer if he’s wrong. He’ll also notice that you have the Invisibility Cloak.

You’ll ask him about his hiding spot.

Shortly, he’ll propose hiding beneath the cloaks. In no time, the Dark Witch will show up at the meeting place.

Suddenly, you’ll notice a familiar figure heading toward her, none other than Merula Snyde. The Dark Witch will then inquire if she is prepared to join ‘R’.

The Most Powerful Witch at Hogwarts will nod, saying she is ready to join ‘R’’s ranks.

Suddenly, the Dark Witch will change her appearance.

She’ll tell Merula she’s worthy of joining their ranks.

It appears there is one task she must complete before gaining that authority, which is convincing you to join ‘R’ as well.

The Dark Witch will smile at her and say it’s only the start of her journey. She’ll then grab Merula’s hand, and moments later, the two of them will apparate away.

You will remove your Invisibility Cloak, shocked to learn that the Hogwarts mole is none other than Merula.

This will conclude Chapter 45 of Year 6. Hit the Collect button to claim your rewards. You will receive 300 Coins and 2000 Experience Points.
