Chapter 9 – Artefact Check

Introduction

Hello everyone, welcome to our Walkthrough for Chapter Nine of Year Six of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. In the previous chapter, you started the search for the white owl. You got to catch up with Talbott in the Owlery, and you managed to locate the owl in the Forbidden Forest. Sadly, it flew away, so you had to search elsewhere.

Eventually, the search led you to Hog’s Head Inn where you learned that the owl likely belongs to Patricia Rakepick. Not only that, but you also learned that she recently left for Knockturn Alley, so you decided to follow her.

Once you obtain all of the required stars, head back to the Training Grounds to attend the lesson. To complete the Taking Passengers lesson, you need to earn five stars within eight hours.

year 6 chapter 9 1070

Other than a few mini-tasks and the passing requirement, this lesson is fairly similar to most of the regular classes.

year 6 chapter 9 1090

Once you obtain the fifth star, you’ll be tasked to fly together with Rowan. Trace the path on the screen to do so.

year 6 chapter 9 1100

Completing this lesson will permanently increase your energy limit by 1. Also, be sure to collect the reward from the Flying section of your Hogwarts Record.

year 6 chapter 9 1120

When you are ready, proceed to the Transfiguration classroom for the next lesson. To unlock the Avis lesson, you need to acquire nine stars from the Transfiguration classes. Like before, select the class duration suitable to your liking and hit Start to begin.

year 6 chapter 9 1140

As always, focus on the bonus actions if you are looking to save some energy.

year 6 chapter 9 1150

Try your best to do all of the mini-tasks successfully to gain some additional Knowledge points.

year 6 chapter 9 1160

Return to the classroom to attend the lesson once you unlock it. To learn the Bird-Conjuring charm, you need to obtain five stars within three hours. All of the stars are needed to pass, so avoid starting the lesson if you are low on energy.

year 6 chapter 9 1180

Since this one is not much different from regular classes, you shouldn’t have trouble completing it.

year 6 chapter 9 1190
year 6 chapter 9 1200

Upon earning all of the stars, you’ll be tasked with casting the spell. Trace the wand movement to do so.

year 6 chapter 9 1210

When you are done, hit the Collect button to claim your rewards. You can claim an additional reward in the Transfiguration section of your Hogwarts Record.

year 6 chapter 9 1230

Now that the lessons are out of the way, you can proceed to Knockturn Alley to look for Rakepick. Upon arriving, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the Knockturn denizens. Tap on those if you want to see what they have to say. Instead of Rakepick, you’ll find Ben, still interrogating Dark witches and wizards.

year 6 chapter 9 1260

Sadly, he didn’t see Rakepick, which is a bit odd, considering what Aberforth said. Shortly after, you’ll inform him that there’s an assassin after you and Merula, and apparently, he’ll be excited to hear that. You have two options to react to this. This choice won’t significantly impact the story, so feel free to take your pick.

year 6 chapter 9 1290

You’ll also inform Ben about the threatening message you received. You will tell him that the message is troubling, saying that you still owe them your friend’s life and that they intend to collect. It looks like Ben is ready for the worst.

year 6 chapter 9 1330

You’ll also tell him that the owl likely belongs to Rakepick. According to Ben, Mundungus Fletcher could tell you where to look, but sadly, he is nowhere to be seen. You’ll suggest asking around to see if anyone’s seen Rakepick. Asking around requires obtaining one out of five stars within three hours.

year 6 chapter 9 1380

There are reward actions tied to your character and one Dark Witch. Prioritize those to save some energy.

year 6 chapter 9 1390

Once you’re done, Ben will point at one awfully suspicious Dark Witch. Upon threatening her, she’ll start explaining herself.

year 6 chapter 9 1410
year 6 chapter 9 1420

However, there’s no conceivable manner in which she could possess such knowledge. Unless she happens to be in disguise as someone else. Trace the wand movement to cast Revelio.

year 6 chapter 9 1440

The spell will work, and the witch will be revealed to be none other than Mundungus Fletcher! It appears that he’s still in hiding from the very person you’re pursuing. He’ll say that he is scared and that he would not want to run into Patricia Rakepick.

year 6 chapter 9 1480

You’ll ask him about Rakepick and the white owl. It appears that the owl isn’t under her ownership but belongs to another individual, someone significantly more threatening. Also, you will learn that Rakepick went after the Dark artifacts she left behind.

This means you have to hurry if you want to find the final vault before her. There is a waiting period of three hours before you can proceed. Simply wait for the timer to expire and let your energy recharge in the process.

year 6 chapter 9 1550

Once the waiting time is over, head to the Defence Against the Dark Arts Classroom to look for Dark artifacts. When you get there, you’ll find Bill in the classroom. Thankfully, he’ll be eager and willing to help you look for the Dark artifacts. He’ll say that he owes you for helping him find Fred and George when they disappeared.

year 6 chapter 9 1580

Searching for Dark artifacts requires earning one out of five stars within three hours.

year 6 chapter 9 1590

Two of the artifacts have reward actions tied to them, so prioritize these in order to save some energy.

year 6 chapter 9 1600
year 6 chapter 9 1610

When you are done with the search, you’ll realize that Rakepick’s Dark artifacts are nowhere to be found. Bill will suggest asking Filch, as he may know the whereabouts of the artifacts. Moments later, the Most Powerful Witch at Hogwarts will arrive and she’ll assume that Bill is secretly teaching you some spells.

year 6 chapter 9 1640

You’ll explain to her that’s not the case, and you’ll tell her what Rakepick is up to.

year 6 chapter 9 1660

However, she’ll still be angry you didn’t tell her earlier. You have three options to respond with. None of these will impact the story in any big way, so feel free to pick the one you prefer.

year 6 chapter 9 1670

You’ll tell her that you’re planning to ask Filch about Rakepick’s Dark artifacts. Needless to say, she’ll want to go as well.

There is a waiting period of one hour before you can proceed. Since your energy is likely low after completing the previous task, it is recommended to wait until this timer runs out and regenerate some energy in the process.

year 6 chapter 9 1700

Head to the caretaker’s office once you’re able to continue. Upon arriving, you’ll realize that Filch is not in his office, so you’ll have to wait until he gets back.

year 6 chapter 9 1730

This will create a bit of an awkward situation between you and Merula. Breaking the silence, she’ll inquire about Jacob, expressing her curiosity about whether he’ll be visiting soon.

year 6 chapter 9 1780

It seems that the Most Powerful Witch at Hogwarts may have a crush on your brother, as she’s curious if he has mentioned anything about her.

year 6 chapter 9 1800

Of course, she’ll deny everything. If you completed the First Date adventure, and Merula was your date, you’re in for some extra lines of dialogue.

year 6 chapter 9 1820
year 6 chapter 9 1830
year 6 chapter 9 1840
year 6 chapter 9 1850

She’ll assume that you’re jealous. You have two options to respond with. If you like Merula, it is highly recommended to pick the first choice. Otherwise, you can pick either option.

year 6 chapter 9 1860

Moments later, the caretaker will enter the office.

year 6 chapter 9 1870

You will explain to Flich that Rakepick’s personal collection of dark artifacts is not in the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom and you’ll also ask him if he knows what has happened to them since Rakepick left her place. Surprisingly enough, he’ll agree to tell you where the artifacts are.

year 6 chapter 9 1910

Talking to Filch about the Dark artifacts requires earning five stars within an hour. One star is needed to pass.

year 6 chapter 9 1920

If you want to save some energy, you can simply earn one star and wait for the timer to expire. That way, you will have full energy before the next task, and since there’s no waiting time, it is recommended to do that. However, if you want a chance to earn Chocolate Frogs, you should fully complete the task.

year 6 chapter 9 1930

It seems that Filch didn’t take any action with Rakepick’s artifacts, so you’ll need to search for them elsewhere, as the professors instructed Filch to leave the dark artifacts to them.

Next, you should seek out Professor Snape’s help. Proceed to the Potions classroom when you are ready. Merula will immediately notice that Professor Snape is brewing Veritaserum.

year 6 chapter 9 1980

Snape will say that Merula is right and that he is preparing Veritaserum, the most powerful Truth Serum in existence. You’ll tell him you’re looking for Rakepick’s Dark artifacts and inform him of her plan.

year 6 chapter 9 2020

Much to your surprise, he’ll agree to tell you more about Rakepick’s Dark artifacts. Talking to Professor Snape requires earning at least one out of five stars within three hours.

year 6 chapter 9 2040

There are reward actions tied to Snape, Merula, and your character. This will make it easier to complete the task.

year 6 chapter 9 2050

Afterward, you’ll discover that Rakepick has cursed her dark artifacts. She seems to have done this to prevent people from tampering with them.

year 6 chapter 9 2070

Sadly, the Potions Master was unable to break those curses. You’ll ask him if he’ll allow you to try, but he’ll be quite confident you won’t be able to do so. You have three options to respond with. None of these will affect the story in any significant way, so feel free to pick whichever one you prefer.

year 6 chapter 9 2090

You’ll also learn that Professor Dumbledore was the one who took care of Rakepick’s Dark artifacts. So, your next stop is the Headmaster’s office.

Proceed there when you are ready. Apparently, Dumbledore is quite aware you’ve been searching for Rakepick’s Dark artifacts.

year 6 chapter 9 2130

Professor Dumbledore will let you know that Filch reported your investigation of artifacts in his office, accentuating that your primary focus should be on your studies rather than hunting for dark artifacts.

The Headmaster will wonder if you don’t recall your last talk with him, and you’ll have three response options to choose from, with none of them significantly altering the story’s course, so select any that suits you.

year 6 chapter 9 2160

In any case, the Headmaster will decide to tell you what he did with Rakepick’s artifacts. Talking to Dumbledore requires earning five stars within three hours. Only one star is needed to pass.

year 6 chapter 9 2180

Once again, there are quite a few bonus actions here, which will make things easier for you.

year 6 chapter 9 2190

It seems that the dark artifacts are now stored at the Ministry of Magic.

year 6 chapter 9 2210
year 6 chapter 9 2220

Once again, he’ll advise you to stop worrying about everything related to Cursed Vaults and to focus on some other things. You’ll promise Dumbledore that you will visit the library, but Merula will not agree with you.

year 6 chapter 9 2240

Merula will tell you that she doesn’t want to give up on Rakepick getting what she deserves.

After that, you’ll head to the Library, but unfortunately, there is a waiting period of three hours before you’re able to continue. Once again, it is recommended to wait until the waiting time is over since your energy will take roughly three hours to recharge fully.

year 6 chapter 9 2260

Proceed to the Library once you’re able to continue. Upon arriving, you’ll be able to interact with some of the characters. You’ll ask Tulip and Percy to share some information about the Ministry of Magic with you.

year 6 chapter 9 2290

Your Ravenclaw friend will be curious to know why you are so interested in learning about the Ministry and you’ll start explaining. You will say that Dumbledore is keeping Rakepick’s cursed dark artifacts in the Ministry and that she wants them back to help her get into the final cursed vault.

You will add that if you can get them before her, you can stop Rakepick. Percy will be shocked to hear about your plan.

year 6 chapter 9 2340

However, with some convincing, he’ll agree to help you, even though he has reservations about your plan and breaking the rules. Percy will add that you helped when Fred and George disappeared without asking questions and that he wants to help you too.

year 6 chapter 9 2370 1

Tulip, on the other hand, won’t hesitate to offer her help. To discuss the Ministry with them, you need to obtain five stars within an hour. Only one star is needed to pass.

year 6 chapter 9 2390

As long as you started this task with a full energy bar, you should easily be able to complete it in one go. It is also worth noting there are reward actions tied to Percy and Tulip.

year 6 chapter 9 2400

Once you’re finished, you’ll come to the realization that the single way to access the Ministry is by seeking assistance from an insider. Unfortunately, involving Tulip’s parents is not a possible option, as they are aware of your situation.

Also, Percy doesn’t want to put his father’s job at risk by helping you. Luckily, Tulip knows one person who might be able to help you. That person is none other than former Ravenclaw Prefect, Chester Davies.

year 6 chapter 9 2450

With this, Chapter 9 of Year 6 will come to an end. Hit the Collect button to claim your rewards. You will receive 250 Coins and 2000 Experience Points.
