Hello everyone, welcome to our Walkthrough for Chapter Sixteen of Year Seven of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. During the previous chapter, you reported back to Moody and informed him about what happened in Knockturn Alley. He scolded you for disobeying his direct order, and he warned you to be more careful in the future. You then went to see if Professor Snape and Penny finished the counter-serum for the memory-erasing potion. Thankfully, the potion was almost ready, and you helped them finish it. You learned that Wampus Cat’s tears were used as one of the ingredients in the memory-erasing potion. Suddenly, everything started to make sense. You figured out that ‘R’ got the Wampus Cat to use its tears to create the potion. Still, there are many other unanswered questions to the whole mystery. You went with Ben to Ollivander’s shop, where you distributed the counter-serum to all the victims of Zenith Xeep’s luscious locks solution. Luckily, the counter-serum worked as intended, and everyone got cured of the ill effects of the memory-erasing potion. Later on, you met with Corey at the Three Broomsticks and learned that Merula is having second thoughts about working with ‘R’. While you were talking to Corey, Mad-Eye arrived to inform you that the Minister of Magic, Cornelius Fudge, wants to have a word with you. You went to the Ministry to meet with the Minister and learned that the white-robed wizard from Mahoutokoro will be on trial for his crimes soon. More importantly, you will need to testify, along with Jacob and Merula. Now is the time to return to Hogwarts and continue where you left off. Proceed to the Transfiguration classroom when you are ready.

To unlock the Tortoise to Trumpet lesson, you will need to obtain a total of nine stars from Transfiguration classes. Pick the class duration that suits you, and hit Start to begin.

As always, prioritize 5-cost actions whenever you see them. This should save you some energy.

Each successful mini-task will grant you some Knowledge points, so try your best to do them all.

Return to the classroom once you obtain enough stars to unlock the lesson.

Learning to transfigure tortoise to trumpet requires earning five stars within three hours. All five stars are needed to pass, so avoid starting this task if you are low on energy.

During the lesson, Professor McGonagall will ask you a question about tortoises.

Upon earning the fifth star, you will be tasked with casting the spell. Trace the wand movement to do so.

You will earn the achievement for completing the lesson.

Head to the Astronomy Tower once you are ready for the second lesson of the chapter.

Once you earn the fifth star, you will need to draw a star chart. Trace the path on the screen to do that.

You’ll earn the achievement for completing the lesson.

Now that you’re done with the lessons, you can continue the story. Proceed to the Headmaster’s office when you are ready.

You will ask Professor Dumbledore if he wanted to see you about the Wizengamot trial.

He will nod and say that he wanted to have a word with you.

He’ll tell you he is glad that you’ve done well in your assignments at the Ministry of Magic.

He will wonder if you’ve particularly enjoyed any of the departments you worked with. There are three options to choose from. Simply pick the department you prefer the most.

In any case, the Headmaster will say he’s glad that you’ve enjoyed your time at the Ministry of Magic.

You’ll thank him for making it possible for you to spend some time at the Ministry.

He’ll remind you that not every student gets such an opportunity.

Thanks to your extraordinary achievements, you’ve earned yourself a privilege to explore careers at the Ministry of Magic.

Professor Dumbledore will then ask if the Minister told you about the trial.

You’ll nod and say you are aware that the white-robed wizard will be on trial for his crimes.

Still, you will wonder why the Ministry decided to have you as a witness.

The Headmaster will say that you’re a firsthand witness, which is why you need to attend the trial.

On top of that, it is important to make the white-robed wizard answer for his crimes.

The Headmaster will ask if you understand why having you as a witness is so important for the trial.

You will calmly nod and say that you do.

According to Professor Dumbledore, the trial will be far from an ordinary one.

Because of that, he’ll want to remind you of the gravity of the whole situation.

Discussing the situation requires earning five stars within one hour. Three stars are needed to pass.

There is a waiting period following the task, which is why it’s recommended to earn all five stars and complete the task as soon as possible. There are 5-cost actions tied to Professor Dumbledore, Fawkes, and your character. Focus on those if you want to save some energy.

You will learn that your testimony has influence.

According to Professor Dumbledore, the fate of the white-robed wizard will rest in your hands.

Needless to say, it’s an immense responsibility.

Thankfully, you won’t have to carry that burden alone since there are others who can help you with it.

One such person is Jacob.

Unfortunately, you haven’t heard from him in quite a while. You’ll assume that he is busy investigating ‘R’.

The Headmaster will remind you there is another person you can turn to.

And that person is none other than Merula Snyde, the Most Powerful Witch at Hogwarts.

Professor Dumbledore will advise you to have a word with her.

He’ll ask if there’s anything else that’s troubling you. There are two options to reply with. This choice won’t significantly impact the story, so feel free to go with the option you prefer.

In any case, Professor Dumbledore will suggest you should speak with Merula.

You’ll decide to follow his advice.

You will need to wait three hours before you can continue. Since you will likely be low on energy at this point, it is recommended to wait and let your energy recharge in the meantime.

Head to the Training Grounds once the waiting time is over.

You will spot Merula practicing on some training dummies. You’ll ask for a moment of her time.

She’ll wonder why you want to speak with her.

The choice that you’ve made while talking to her in the Great Hall will take effect here.

You’ll tell her that you want to talk about the upcoming Wizengamot trial.

Merula will find it odd that you want to talk about the trial.

She will assume you are nervous about it. There are two options to reply with. Other than some minor dialogue differences, this choice won’t significantly impact the story, so feel free to pick either option.

You’ll be surprised that Merula isn’t nervous about the trial at all. You’ll tell her that all kinds of things might resurface there.

She’ll be curious to know what you are so afraid about.

She will also say she is looking forward to confronting the white-robed wizard again.

According to her, he deserves to be punished for threatening the Most Powerful Witch at Hogwarts.

You’ll ask her to practice together for a while. That way, you might be able to stop thinking about the trial.

She’ll agree to it, as long as you admit that she’s the Most Powerful Witch at Hogwarts.

You’ll be surprised by her request.

Merula will burst into laughter and explain that she was only joking. In the end, she will agree to let you practice with her.

Practicing with Merula requires earning five stars within eight hours. All five stars are needed to pass.

You’ll think about everything the two of you have been through. You will find it hard to believe that so many things happened since you started your first year at Hogwarts.

Merula will say she is glad that most of it happened.

She’ll admit that she’s changed for the better and she even made some friends.

That will remind you of the things the Headmaster said earlier.

You’ll tell Merula that all of you need to stick together and look out for one another.

That way, no one will end up getting hurt, as Ismelda did with the Wampus Cat.

Unfortunately, your words won’t produce the result you were hoping for.

You will try to explain yourself to Merula.

Sadly, she won’t give you a chance to say anything.

She will make it perfectly clear that she doesn’t need to be lectured on friendship.

She’ll tell you to go and talk to your new friend Corey.

Moments later, she will turn around and leave the place.

You will be left there, completely lost for words.

After taking a few moments to compose yourself, you will realize that you did push Merula too far after mentioning Ismelda and the Wampus Cat incident.

In any case, you will decide to have a word with Corey.

Hopefully, the two of you will be able to figure out what to do about Merula.

Proceed to the Great Hall when you are ready to meet with Corey.

Upon arriving, you will notice the speech bubbles above some of your classmates. Tap on those if you are curious to see what they have to say.

You will spot a new student being surrounded by everyone. You’ll ask Corey about him.

She will tell you that his name is Victor Ketsueki. Apparently, he’s a Ravenclaw in your year.

You will find it odd that you’ve never seen him around. This line will differ slightly if your character is a Ravenclaw.

You’ll wonder if he’s a transfer student.

According to Corey, that’s not the case.

You will learn that Victor apparently got turned into a vampire during the summer holiday.

You will hear him talking about his adventures.

He’ll say that he partied all night long in the catacombs beneath Paris.

He will tell the others that he’s thinking about organizing some parties at Hogwarts.

Corey will be annoyed to hear that.

She will use some interesting words to describe Victor.

You’ll wonder if she’s been reading a dictionary since the last time you met.

Corey will admit that she simply wants to keep up with Victor.

You’ll ask if she’s jealous of him.

Corey will quickly say that she’s only fascinated.

After all, not often does a person go from invisible to super popular overnight.

On top of that, others seem to listen to Victor, regardless of what he says.

You will say that he sounds a bit like Merula.

According to Corey, no one is as mean as the Most Powerful Witch at Hogwarts.

You’ll tell her that you want to speak about Merula.

Corey will ask if you managed to learn anything new.

You’ll start by telling her about your conversation with Professor Dumbledore.

You’ll then inform her about your encounter with Merula.

Corey will ask you to tell her more about it.

Chatting with Corey requires earning five stars within three hours. Three stars are needed to pass.

This task is divided into two sections. During the first section, you will chat with Corey. There are 5-cost actions tied to both of you.

The second section will start after earning two and a half stars (around half of the whole bar). During it, you will take a look at Victor and everyone around him. There is a 5-cost action tied to Victor here, so prioritize his actions to save a bit of energy.

Corey will figure out that Merula is still feeling guilty about Ismelda getting hurt by the Wampus Cat.

She’ll also agree that you might’ve gone too far after mentioning friendship.

You will say that you’ve been trying to understand Merula ever since you saw her meeting the Dark Witch in Knockturn Alley.

After all, not everyone would be as open-minded as you if they knew about what happened.

Unfortunately, Merula’s behavior didn’t make things easy for you.

According to Corey, she is probably worried about how ‘R’ will respond to her letter.

On top of that, there is also the Wizengamot trial.

Corey will wonder if Merula will stay on your side or if she will try to get the white-robed wizard off the hook. There are two options to reply with. If you like Merula, it is recommended to pick the first option.

Either way, you won’t be able to tell for sure if Merula truly decided to leave ‘R’.

Corey will say there might be a way to find out.

She will suggest checking the Whomping Willow for new letters.

You will like the idea.

Head to the Whomping Willow when you are ready to continue.

Corey will admit that she is slightly spooked by the place.

You’ll say a few nice words to encourage her.

Corey will say there’s something she wants to tell you.

You’ll ask if something’s wrong.

Corey will say that she simply wants to thank you for being her friend.

Unfortunately, she doesn’t have that many friends, and on top of that, there are some who don’t really appreciate her wizarding world knowledge.

After hearing that, you won’t really know what to say.

Corey will simply let you know how much she enjoys being a detective with you.

Shortly after, the two of you will start searching the place.

You will warn Corey to be careful about the Whomping Willow’s branches.

Searching for quills requires earning five stars within eight hours. All five stars are needed to pass.

There are 5-cost actions linked to Corey and your character. Prioritize those if you want to save some energy.

After looking around for a while, you will stumble upon a black quill.

Corey will ask you to untransfigure it.

You’ll quickly take out your wand and cast Reparifarge. Trace the wand movement to do so.

The spell will work, and the quill will turn into a note.

You’ll pick it up and start reading.

Corey will quickly figure out that Merula didn’t write the message.

According to her, it was written by an older hand. She’ll start explaining how she got to that conclusion.

You’ll give her a confused look.

Corey will apologize for getting carried away.

In any case, all the clues will point out towards Merula cutting ties with ‘R’.

You’ll hope that the Most Powerful Witch at Hogwarts is still on your side.

Corey will decide to transfigure the message and put it back.

Moments later, Merula will arrive.

She will be surprised to see two of you.

Corey will come up with an excuse.

You’ll apologize to Merula for what you said earlier.

You’ll also say that you shouldn’t have come to the Whomping Willow.

After looking at you for a while, Merula will accept your apology.

Not long after that, you will leave the place.

You’ll need to wait four hours until you can continue. Since you will probably be low on energy, it is recommended to wait and let your energy recharge in the meantime.

Proceed to the Artefact Room once the waiting time is over.

Corey will admit that she didn’t expect Merula to show up at the Whomping Willow.

The choice that you’ve made while talking to Merula in the Great Hall will take effect here.

You’ll suggest discussing the recent findings.

You will notice that Corey is very worried about the note that you’ve found.

In any case, you will decide to discuss the facts before figuring out what to do next.

Discussing the facts requires earning five stars within three hours. Since all five stars are needed to pass, avoid starting this task if you are low on energy.

The only 5-cost action here is tied to Corey. Focus on that one if you want to save a bit of energy.

You’ll sum up the things you know.

Corey will find the situation similar to the one she read in one of the stories about Conebush and Persimmons.

That will give her an interesting idea.

She will suggest convincing Merula to become an informant.

She’ll go on and explain the details of her plan.

She’ll ask if you think Merula would agree to that idea. There are two options to reply with. If you like Merula, it is recommended to pick the first option.

Either way, the two of you will agree that asking Merula to be an informant would be a smart thing to do.

Suddenly, you will hear a buzzing sound coming from a nearby cabinet.

Moments later, a doxy will burst out of it and bite Corey’s arm.

You’ll immediately take out your wand and cast Flipendo. Trace the wand movement to do that.

The spell will blast the doxy back into the cabinet. You’ll quickly ask Corey if she is okay.

She’ll say that she got bitten by the creature.

You’ll remember that doxy bites are poisonous.

You’ll immediately decide to take Corey to the Hospital Wing.
