Heroic – Magic Duel is a real-time strategy game developed by Nordeus, famous for their football simulation Top Eleven. This game intends to mesmerize you with its beautiful fantasy art style, breathtaking arenas and a massive collection of Heroes, minions, and spells.
In the beginning, you are taken to the Battlefield, which is divided into three lanes, with blue and red portals at the end of each lane. At the top of the screen, there are bars that measure the energy of you and your opponent. At the bottom, there are heroes in the form of cards that you place on the lanes. Your goal is to reach and destroy your opponent’s portal before he does that to yours, and you will do that by placing your units on the lanes and facing the opponent units blocking your way. When your units reach the opposing portal, they start to deal damage on it, which consequently depletes the main energy bar of your opponent. After the opponents portal is destroyed, the game is won and you get the rewards for a successful battle.
There are three kinds of units you can place on the battlefield. First are the minions, which is a bunch of relatively weak common units, then there are Heroes, individual, strong figures, and finally, there are spells that you can use to deal some massive damage on the opponent.
Before you start PvP you have to go through the five apprentices, which serves as a tutorial. In each match you will learn something new about the gameplay, like using the spells, upgrading your units, unlocking new heroes, minions and many other things. Spells and effects are divided into five groups, categorized by the character of the spell and the heroes. The heroes’ names are Ruul, Valen, Terrin Rhu, Noella and Alayna, and each of them represents one school of magic with their own unique skills and traits. By successful play, you will unlock and discover new features that will help your Heroes grow in strength.
Your ultimate strategy for the best way of play is entirely up to you. You can specialize one hero and power rush through your opponents, or you can play with all of them and choosing the right one depending on the opponent’s heroes and strategy. Having three lanes really improves the tactical aspect of this game. Not only that you will have to choose the unit, but you’re also choosing which lane you will place your hero on and in which position. This multitude of options will make each game dynamic and interesting.
There’s not much to say in the end except that Heroic – Magic Duel is a game that tries and succeeds to bring some innovation into hero-based battles by combining already existing elements into one coherent game. We are quite sure Heroic – Magic Duel will find the audience thanks to the undeniable quality and the masterful weigh of making new content with familiar ingredients.
