Huawei Watch GT – Low Price and a Fine Battery Life?

When Huawei released its first smartwatch in 2015 at Internationale Funkausstellung Berlin the world was wowed. This Android Wear-based watch match others on the market when it comes to specs and showed the innovative technology that Huawei was so proud of. The design and functionality blended in perfectly and the consumers couldn’t wait for the company’s next smartwatch.

On the other hand, Huawei Watch 2 was a bit disappointing after such a smashing device which preceded it. Many critics pointed out that the new device tried to cover almost every possible feature a user could need and that affected negatively the friendly environment it should support. The screen was too small and a performance sluggish, but what actually hurt the users the most was the less premium design than the original had.

With all that in mind, it’s sufficed to say that users expect much more from the new smartwatch Huawei is working on. And now, thanks to the leak, we seem to know some of the features that Huawei Watch GT might bring us. Of course, this all comes straight from the rumor mill so leave some room for change, hopefully for the better.

Allegedly codenamed Fortuna, Huawei Watch GT comes with one huge promise that even the most expensive smartwatches don’t have – a week-long battery life. This is actually an excellent news and we truly hope that it’s more than just the rumor since nothing has been officially confirmed by the company yet.

The picture that is supposedly a render of watch’s appearance, doesn’t show anything innovative. It shows a traditionally styled watch with clock dials many believe represents their Classic or Fashion edition. With that in mind, it is expected that Huawei Watch GT will also come in Sport version which will be less elegant and more casual. The picture shows two big side buttons without rotating crown while the specs say it will have a pressure sensor, compass, NFC, GPS, Bluetooth, and accelerometer. There wasn’t any mention about heart rate sensor, but since that is a standard feature on smartwatches nowadays, it will certainly have one.

Huawei Watch GT will come with 420mAh battery which is larger than the ones in most WearOS devices. The leaks say that thanks to such a strong battery, users might be enjoying their smartwatch for a full week before needing to recharge and that’s with a display on. Otherwise, you might get 14 days if you use power saving mode, which is very impressive for a smartwatch. One of the reasons for this great feature would be that Huawei Watch GT won’t use Wear OS since those types of devices aren’t able to have such a long battery life. The chipset will most likely be the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 3100 although that can’t affect the battery life in such capacity.

The leaks also say that pricing will range from $220 to $265 which is an excellent price for a smartwatch with such a long battery life and features that will certainly be similar to previous watches. However, if Huawei is following trends, their new watch may contain health-tracking features like Apple Watch Series 4 does. If that is the case, and those features are functional, then the leaked price is really more than favorable. After all, who wouldn’t want to have features like the most expensive smartwatch on the market and the longest battery life?

In the end, we will have to wait for the official statement from Huawei that will confirm or deny some of these leaks. Hopefully, it will only add some more news to these ones and preferably publish an image of their new smartwatch which will have a better design.
