Death Stranding Gamescom 2019

New Gamescom footage of Death’s Stranding has left everyone craving for more

Death’s Stranding trailers were just released at Gamescom 2019 opening night, much to everyone’s delight. The game has come a long way since its initial reveal in 2016, especially with the plot details and characters revealed in the trailers. Gamescom 2019 opening night showed three trailers, introducing Mama, Deadman, and Bridge Baby.

In Death’s Stranding Mama Trailer we see Sam, played by actor Norman Reedus, and the character ‘Mama’, played by actress Margaret Qualley. Afterward, Hideo Kojima, the video game designer behind Death Stranding and many other titles (Metal Gear series), explained some of the details to Gamescom audience, since the trailer was vague as per usual.

Kojima said that all of the many characters in the game have their own sub-story, apart from their part in the overall ‘main’ storyline of the game. Mama comes in at the very beginning and her baby, the one seen in the trailer, was born on the ‘other side’ and the two are still connected by the umbilical cord. Hear it from Mr. Hideo himself:

Next cut-scene trailer showed us another character, who we knew from before. It’s the Deadman, played by Guillermo Del Toro, the famous filmmaker and an Oscar-winner for his movies Pan’s Labyrinth, for Best Director, and The Shape of Water, for Best Picture. Sam comes in and calls out “Deadman”, but when Guillermo’s character appears, he cells him Ted. The two then explain to the audience about the “Bridge Baby” and a little bit more about the mentioned “Otherside”, which is the world of the dead as it appears.

Mr. Hideo Kojima then presented the audience with actual gameplay footage and revealed a bit more about the two worlds and the ‘Otherside”. At the grand delight of Gamescom 2019 audience, Mr. Kojima obliged with a gameplay footage after teasing the crowd a little bit. After Death’s Stranding gameplay trailer began, the reaction was priceless.

Here it is, enjoy:
