Half-Life Alyx

New Half-Life game announced

Half-Life: Alyx VR game is the future of the franchise, officially announced by Valve who victoriously tweeted in recently. The full presentation of the upcoming game is scheduled for November 20, on Thursday 10 am PT, as Valve puts an end to the rumors circulating this title for some time now, much to everyone’s delight. The three major names attached to the project are the franchise, Valve, and SteamVR.

While we will have to wait for two more days to get the really juicy details, this project is obviously looking to make good use of SteamVR which is apparently not being used to its full potential. Just as it sounds, it is a Virtual Reality Steam Controller which is friendly to PC games, but can enable remote play for Smartphone, Tablets, and TV. It is still undisclosed how well the service is selling, but there have been some quite discouraging statements, while this Half-Life VR leak certainly shines the spotlight on it.

The last installment of the series, Half-Life 2 Episode 2, ended with a cliffhanger twelve years ago. And, thus, the fans of the series have been speculating, eagerly awaiting, prophesying, and done virtually all but dabble in witchcraft and the occult, just asking for a small sign about the sequel. At this point, we have all given up and moved on, but in the recent years, rumors about a third installment began circulating the web.

Half-Life 2

However, nobody expected it to be a VR game and let alone exclusive to the Valve Index VR headset, but this is also unconfirmed. The game series that once changed the entire future of video gaming and spawned numerous other games in its likeness (like Counter-Strike which also enjoyed worldwide spread) was long dormant and it’s as if we are all being awoken by this news.

The series had all its titles achieve critical and commercial acclaim, while Half-Life 2 is often regarded to be among the best games ever. Half-Life: Alyx VR game is definitely coming and we have two more days to gather ourselves as the full presentation will be held this Tuesday, as mentioned, on November 20. Brace yourselves!
