A couple of days ago Apple announced that they will start a premium games subscription service called Apple Arcade. This service will contain more than 100 premium games, new and old alike, while new titles will be added on a regular basis. Even better, all games will be available on every Apple device, and none of them will require online connectivity, nor there will be adds and in-app purchases.
There are several games that were already announced for Apple Arcade, including Where Cards Fall, a puzzle game from The Game Band and Snowman studio, a brand new game Fantasian, made by Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi, Overland from the creator of Canabalt and, most peculiar, Oceanhorn 2.
Oceanhorn 2 is a sequel to an action RPG from 2013, which was delivered by a small Finnish studio Cornfox & Bros. The backdrop of this game is the same fantasy world from the first installment, and the main character is a young boy who wishes to become a Knight of Arcadia. For that purpose, he trains in the White City, which is the capital of Arcadia but also the headquarters of the oldest military organization of Gaia, called the Knights Order. The mission of the Knights is to protect citizens from external threats, maintains the law and order and serve as a personal guard the current Grand Regent Archimedes. The game will follow the main character known simply as Hero, Grand Regent’s granddaughter Trin, and sardonic battle robot Gen in their adventures all across the realm.
Like all other Apple Arcade games, Oceanhorn 2 will work on every Apple device, and it won’t require online connectivity in order to play. It seems that the best way to play this game will be via Apple’s new Premium service.
