Hello everyone! Slowly, but steadily, Year 5 of Hogwarts Mystery is coming to an end but many of the questions yet remain unanswered. Currently, the story is at Chapter 25, and there are only 5 chapters remaining until the Year is over (4 if we consider the fact that so far each Year ended with End-of-Term Feast).
As the story goes, there are several major events that are yet to play out. First, we need to obtain the vault portrait from Peeves. If Peter Pettigrew was telling the truth, the portrait is the portkey that will likely transfer us to the location of the next Cursed Vault. In order to do that, we need to impress Peeves by performing mischief so grand it will affect the entire Hogwarts. So far, all the preparation for that are complete, there are only a few final steps before we are ready to unleash the Star Shower and cause a mischievous spectacle. Most of this will likely play out in Chapter 25. As it appears, that one will have 8 story tasks, so there is a high possibility we will finally get our hands on the vault portrait by the end of that chapter.
Once we get it, we will need to analyze it and prepare for facing the cursed vault. This will probably take at least one chapter, so expect Chapters 26 to be centered around this. During this preparation, there is a high chance for some unlikely plot twist that will force us to make a decision that will have a lasting impact on the story – most likely something related to one of our friends dying.
After that, in Chapter 27, we’ll head to the Cursed Vault that will probably be the biggest challenge so far. It will be so impactful that we’ll most likely remember it for the rest of the game. This is when we’ll probably find out R’s identity and this is when the decision from the previous chapter will kick in and one of our friends will probably die. There is a high possibility that we will also find Jacob trapped in this vault.[adinserter block=”9″]
In Chapter 28, we will have to deal with the consequences of our actions. Sure, Hogwarts will be saved, and students trapped in the portraits will be set free, but some things will never be the same. First, we will find out that Madam Rakepick is leaving her position as the Defence Against the Dark Arts professor and we will find out why. Then, we will have to deal with the death of one of our friends, and there will be little room for celebration.
As usual, Chapter 29 will just be another End-of-Term feast, so there isn’t much to say about that one.
As for the characters, there are several possibilities that we consider likely to happen:
Rowan – he/she is likely to remain safe and sound from danger, despite being under the influence of the Imperius Curse previously. Still, there is a slight possibility that he/she could potentially end up being R, but it is highly unlikely. All things considered, there probably won’t be anything significant tied to Rowan’s story in the last few chapters of this year.
Ben – he is one of the characters that are most likely to die by the end of Year 5. There are numerous reasons for this. First, ever since Year 2, he was heavily involved in this mystery, and there were a lot of shady things surrounding him. He is most likely just a victim of R’s manipulation, and in an effort to prove himself to you and the others, he might be willing to give his life to protect you or someone else and show everyone he was always a brave Gryffindor in heart. Another reason why he is high on my death prediction list is because up until Year 5, he wasn’t present in any of the repeatable classes, and therefore, removing him from the game would be a minimal effort for the developers.
Penny – she’s been obsessed with her sister getting trapped in a portrait so much that she’s been neglecting her studies lately. She was even willing to resort to cheating on her O.W.L.s at one point, but thankfully, she came to her senses. As for her, she is likely to survive this year, but surprises can still happen. Personally, I think that there is still a slight chance she could be killed off, but there are several reasons why this probably won’t happen. First, she is present during most of the regular classes, so in case she dies, the developers would have to fundamentally change those and exclude her, which is a lot of work. Second, she is one of the fan favorites and one of the most lovable characters in the game, which is another reason why she is likely to survive this year.
Tulip – along with Ben, she is on top of my predictions list. There are many reasons for this. First, she betrayed Merula before, and we were warned by our Slytherin rival that it’s just a matter of time until she stabs us in the back. There are already several theories about her parents being R, which just pushes her up on the list. Like Ben, up until Year 5, she wasn’t present in any of the repeatable classes, which makes it a lot easier for the developers to either kill her off or have her betray us.
Merula – alongside Penny, she is one of the fan-favorite characters and for a reason. She’s been serving as our biggest rival and everything she did, invoked a reaction from the protagonist. Given that she is probably the most popular character in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, killing her off would not only cause a HUGE backlash from the fans but would also require a tremendous effort to remove her from all the repeatable classes she’s in. This is why she is fairly low on my death prediction list, but hats off to Jam City if they decide to kill her, as that would likely be remembered as one of the most memorable deaths in gaming history.
Madam Rakepick – She is another likely candidate to die by the end of Year 5. Not only is she the subject of the infamous DADA Curse, but she was also lately surrounded by a lot of mystery. On several occasions, we discovered clues that made us question where her loyalties lie, which only fueled numerous theories that she, in fact, is mysterious R. Personally, I think this isn’t the case as it would be very obvious and predictable, but I do think that something will happen that will cause her to abandon her current DADA Professor post. She will either die protecting us from R or whatever is guarding the next vault, or she will somehow end up being trapped by R, in which case, we will spend a majority of our Year 6 trying to free her.
Jacob – Ever since the vision we had in the Forest Vault, we knew that Jacob is in the next one. It is likely that we will finally find him, but there is also a high possibility that he could end up dying in order to protect us from R. In any case, I doubt that both he and Rakepick will survive this Year, so it is likely he will either die or disappear again by the end of Year 5. There is also a chance he’s working against us and luring us in R’s trap, most likely against his will, and we are bound to find out soon enough if that is the case.
As for the other characters, they are more than likely to survive this year, but as I said before, Jam City can always surprise us and pull off a twist we never saw coming. In any case, Year 5 is slowly nearing its end and in a month or so, we’ll probably have all the answers to this mystery!
