The story begins with Alvar Spire, a commander of famous Night Watch, and his men who are following a trail of blood towards Whitetree. In the midst of forest they fall into a Wildling ambush:
This is tutorial combat where you will learn basics. Every unit or Hero has a certain move range after which they can perform an attack using their skills or basic attacks. Melee units must move next to target while Archers can shoot from distance – 2-3 tiles away depending on archer type. After receiving attack every unit can retaliate causing a certain percentage of their base attack. Melee units cannot retaliate against ranged attacks but Archers can if their range is good enough. It would be smart to kill enemy archers first because their attack is highest. That comes at the cost of defense therefore it will not be hard to kill them easily if you focus on them.
When you successfully beat the ambush Alvar will notice a body on the snow in the vicinity.
When they came near, Rangers noticed that dead body is wearing a Night Watch armor and they immediately realized that this could be a Lord Commander Rivers, a famous Night Watch Captain known as Bloodraven
However, the body was burnt to crisps and unrecognizable making Alvar suspicious and furious.
After a short break, Alvar realizes that the burnt body is not Bloodraven’s and that those wildings are organized and dangerous.
Dramon Blackwood, Alvar’s first officer who served under Bloodraven, has not shared Alvar’s opinion and started to oppose him because he thought that Alvar is chasing a ghost.
Their argument has been stopped by incoming storm and they were forced to retreat behind the Wall. While they were retreating they came across a Wildling scout who watched their every step.
After they caught the scout they successfully retreated behind the Wall. Next morning Maester Aemon told Alvar that a Raven came from Jarden, an old hermit who lives in a tiny outpost near the widest part of the Antler River. Alvar’s fears came true and he learned that the Wildlings are organized under the rule of 2 brothers, Scarnest the Cruel and Gromyr the Flame.
Jarden also said that those Wildlings are looting and setting fire all across the Haunted Forest. Alvar believed the letter instantly but Dramon had concerns about Jarden’s reliability.
However, Dramon already heard about Gromyr, and Alvar realized that he may be behind the death of Night Watch fallen brother near the Whitetree. Dramon insisted that the dead ranger was Bloodraven but Alvar still wasn’t sure. In the end, they come to the conclusion that Night Watch will not allow any Wildlings to move south of the Wall.
Before they started to prepare, Maester Aemon reminded them about missing Northern women beyond the wall and ask them to look for her if they could. Alvar accepted his suggestion and said Dramon to prepare the troops for the journey in the Haunted Forest.
Alvar, Dramon, and Night Watch Rangers set to step into the Haunted Forest…
Soon after the preparation, Alvar, Dramon, and Night Watch Rangers set to step into the Haunted Forest following the burning trail in the search for Gromyr the Flame. Not long after that, they found the first group of Wildlings.
In this mission, you have the option to choose one more unit beside Alvar or Dramon. It is important to mention that Alvar is a melee hero while Dramon is an archer. At this point, you will have Raventree Elite (archer) and Champion of Winter (2H melee). I used Alvar and Champion of Winter since Champion of Winter is very sturdy and can attack primary and all adjacent targets. This comes at the cost of his movement which is not a problem because you should wait for enemies to come to you instead of charging to them.
After an easy fight, Alvar and Dramon realized that those wildlings are too well equipped for an unorganized bunch and that they should proceed carefully.
They were also confused with the fact that Wildlings who usually cover their tracks better than Rangers now do not try to hide their presence and that they are eager to be found by Night Watch. Nevertheless, Alvar and Dramon agreed to continue the pursue and to stop Gromyr one and for all.
It didn’t pass long before the next encounter.
In this mission, you can lead 2 units beside Alvar or Dramon. This means that you will probably use Raventree Elite and Champion of Winter. If you summoned some other units you can use them instead but at this point, you should start choosing what will be your main squad because later you will not be able to equip and level up more than 4 or 5 units at the same time if you want to finish the story as fast as possible. This fight is easy but you should pay attention to obstacles that could help you or make your job harder at the same time. Some obstacles can be removed with simple attack and some cannot. In this mission, both obstacles can be removed but I suggest that you don’t move toward enemies but to wait for them to come. It is important to know that Two-Handed Weapon users can move just one tile while Archers and One-Handed Weapon users can move 2 tiles. You should keep you Raventree Elite protected and try to position Champion of Winter where he can strike most of the targets. It is up to you who will be your main Hero but keep in mind that Alvar can be maximized before Dramon.
After the fight Ranger made camp to spend the night but soon realized that someone is watching them.
From the dark, a Wildling woman appeared and introduced herself.
Ranger who was guarding the camp started to explain and apologize that he didn’t hear anyone but Alvar didn’t want to hear any excuses. Then Alvar put his attention on Mayla and asked her why she came to them. Mayla started to talk in riddles.
She also said that: “Their thousand eyes and one will take your hundred men to none” which Dramon immediately understood as a threat. Alvar, on the other hand, wanted to listen to what Mayla has to say and asked Dramon to let her talk. Mayla continued and asked them to listen to the song of the forest. She said that forest speaks through the wind in the leaves and that forest song is louder since the arrow left its quiver. She then showed them that arrow.
When they saw the arrow, Alvar and Dramon haven’t tried to hide their surprise and asked Mayla where she found that arrow but Mayla continued to speak in riddles: “White and red, afire and tree. White and red, there a man I’d see. Smoke will plume and winds will blow, flames will douse by rivers flow. Burn the fire by the white red tree, and in the dark Mayla sees”. After a short thinking Alvar explained to Dramon that she’s telling them to light a fire in front of a wierwood tree in order to call her again. Dramon was even more surprised.
Alvar asked Ranger Guard to return to duty and told his companions to be ready to continue the search in the morning. Puzzled by their mysterious encounter, Alvar and Dramon continued their perilous search for the wildling warlords and soon after encountered another group of Wildlings.
In this mission, you will also lead 2 units and a Hero. This is the first time you will be on the narrow bridge where you will not be able to maneuver to much. Be sure to put Champion of Winter near enemy Archers at the start of the battle. In those kinds of maps, you will not be able to wait so you will have to approach enemies in the first turn. If possible focus on enemies with the highest Attack and lowest Defense (Archers and 2 Weapon wielders) and leave tanky units for the end. This mission is also very easy but it can help you understand certain tactics and strategies.
When the defeated the enemies Alvar and Dramon take a break near the fire to talk and eat. They agreed that it is strange that those Wildlings have such quality weapons and that they are fighting together even they are from the opposite tribes. Dramon thought that this is just a coincidence and that they are outcasts from their tribes who stole weapons and organized into groups to plunder and loot food and supplies. Alvar agreed and told that some of them even holding a missing Northern Woman for a ransom from someone south of the Wall.
Dramon disagreed and told that Alvar give them too much credit and they are just savages who most probably killed that poor woman. Then he started to talk about the adventures of him and Bloodraven before he became Lord Commander. He recalled that a few years back he and Bloodraven come across a cave where Wildlings collected bodies and belongings of unfortunate travelers. He said that at this moment he realized that Wildlings are just savages, Alvar asked him how they found that cave and Dramon respond that Bloodraven found it. Alvar became even more suspicious.
After they take the brake Alvar and Dramon continued their search and come upon a blazing fire where they were surrounded by Wildlings.
In this mission, you will be almost surrounded by enemies. You will face Archer, 2-Handed Weapon wielder, One-Handed Weapon wielder, and Tank. The goal in this mission is to survive 5 turns. You may think that this will be a harder task but at this moment you will have Heroes and units strong enough to actually kill all enemies instead of trying to stay alive for 5 turns. Archer will be close to you so be sure to kill him first. After that focus on One-Handed Weapon wielder and after him on the 2-Handed weapon wielder. At the end surround the tank and kill him easily.
When they escaped from the fiery ambush, Alvar and Dramon continued the journey and left the forest. As soon as they come to clearing Alvar noticed smokes in the vicinity.
Dramon didn’t share his enthusiasm.
But as they came close it proved that Alvar was right. Band of Wildlings were running from the big Fire as they trying to escape the fiery chaos they brought. Alvar was certain that they found Gromyr the Flame.
And Dramon finally agreed.
They charged towards a group of Wildlings and soon they met their prey.
As they expected that was Gromyr the Flame himself. Before they could react Gromyr started to talk.
Alvar told him that they are surrounded and that their troops are dead and asked him to let the prisoners go if he wants to stay alive. Gromyr responded that they do not take prisoners and that they burn whatever they want for the Red Raven. Dramon quickly answered that Night Watch also do not take Wildlings prisoners and the fight begins.
This is the first mission that will be a little harder. Your goal is to kill Gromyr within 10 turns. He will be protected by 2-Handed Weapon wielder and Tank while 1 Archer is on the side. You could try to focus your ranged fire on Gromyr immediately but that wouldn’t be wise since he will retaliate every ranged attack. That is why you should kill his protectors first. If the chance appears that you kill him in the second turn with your skills take it but if he tries to run, do not chase him but kill all his companions first. Keep in mind that you need to kill only Archer and a 2-Handed weapon wielder. After that do not pay attention to Tank and just focus on Gromyr. If you did everything right you should be able to kill him in the second or third turn. Dramon is maybe better than Alvar for this mission because of his deadly skill that can’t be countered. If your units and Heroes are at least level 5 you will not have difficulties in dealing with this mission.
After Gromyr was killed Dramon found a cave where was Wildlings stash. He told Alvar that they were just looters after all.
Alvar wasn’t convinced and soon he found proof for his suspicions. At the ground, they found bloody markings of Red Raven.
But even that wasn’t a proof good enough for Dramon. He tried to convince Alvar that was drawings of the drunken Wildling and that they shouldn’t be worried about it, but Alvar was certain there was more in it especially since Gromyr already spoke of Red Raven.
When Dramon finally understood that Alvar thinks that his old fellow, Bloodraven, is behind all this he was stunned. But before they agree on what to do next they had to retrieve goods from Wildlings cave.
Alvar convinced Dramon that they should follow markings of Red Raven…
After a short break, Alvar convinced Dramon that they should follow markings of Red Raven to see where it will lead them. They searched the Area and went further following the bloody markings on the ground. Soon they stumbled across a group of Wildlings ready to fight. Before they engaged them they tried to reason with them.
Wildlings refused to answer but Alvar continued to act peacefully and ask questions.
Wildlings were still hostile and refused to give them any lead.
With those words, Wildlings drew weapons and charged against the Night Watch.
In this mission, you will lead 3 units beside the Hero for the first time. Your goal is to kill all enemies within 10 turns. At this point, you should have units that are at least Level 6 or 7 and it shouldn’t be difficult to prevail with ease. Focus on 2-Weapons unit and Archer unit first, after that on the 2-Handed unit. After you deal with them, enemy Tank will be easily overwhelmed. After the recent update, the number of enemy units was lowered and enemy Archer unit has been removed making this mission easier than before.
After they dealt with Wildlings, Dramon suggested Alvar that it is pointless to reason with Savages and that they will not say a word about anything and especially about red markings.
Alvar disagreed with him and told him that those Wildlings might don’t know anything about markings and that those markings might be the work of Bloodraven.
Helpless to change Alvar’s opinion Dramon noticed that there is no pattern or direction where those markings lead and that they just stumbled upon them. Alvar agreed and said that this could be the best trail Bloodraven is capable to left for them, but Dramon asked him if that is true, why Bloodraven did not leave the normal Ranger trail blazes. Tired of fighting and cold, Dramon also asked why they are the ones who need to solve this riddle and realized that if that was Bloodraven he wouldn’t have time to paint all those markings.
Alvar was not sure but his curiosity about where those markings lead was too great to be ignored. Dramon didn’t want to argue anymore and told the only thing he could.
They continued their journey further North following the red markings. They found more questions than answers before they were attacked by another group of Wildlings.
In this mission, you will face 4 2-Weapons Wildlings on the open ground. The fight will be easy and everything you need to do is to skip first turn and to wait for them to come near you. The starting position of your troop will not allow them to attack you and when they approach all your skills will be ready for use. In the second turn, you will kill 2 of them easily while surrounding the other 2 who will not pose a threat to you anymore. After the recent update, the number of enemies was lowered and this fight is now even easier.
After the battle, Alvar and Dramon set by the fire to launch and talk. Alvar breaks the silence and spoke to Dramon.
He told Dramon that he never talked about how well he knew Bloodraven. Dramon was calm and answered:
Dramon also said that wasn’t a question but a constatation and he felt like Alvar accused him of something. Alvar told him to relax and he asked him about the time Dramon and Bloodraven fought together at Redgrass Field. Alvar also said that Dramon had to be one of the best Bloodraven’s men if he picked him to be in the Raven’s Teeth and chosen him to take the black (become the member of the Night Watch). Dramon wasn’t surprised by that question and answered:
Alvar explained that all he is asking if Dramon really knew the man but Dramon avoided the question again:
Alvar was confused. He couldn’t understand that Dramon who was that close with Bloodraven so easily accept that he is dead. Dramon, on the other hand, couldn’t understand that Alvar cannot accept that fact and told him to let it go. Alvar answered:
Dramon used that sentence to prove his point and told that he is not surprised that Bloodraven finally ended up getting lost in shadow, secrets, and darkness. He also said that night is close and that he drunk too much which means that he needs to retreat to his tent. Alvar accepted his request and start preparing for the road ahead of them.
They continued their journey in the morning but after a short time, they noticed wondering Wildlings and ambushed them.
In this mission, you face 2 2-Weapons units, 1 2-Handed Weapon unit, and 1 Archer. The position of your troops at the beginning will be favorable and they will surround enemy units. In order to exploit a good starting position, you will have to attack enemies immediately by focusing on 2-Weapons units. That will be tricky because you can’t avoid being attacked by an enemy 2-Handed unit. However, if you succeed in disposing of both 2-Weapon units quickly, you will not be in danger. After the recent update, the Archer unit was removed from the battle so your job will be much easier and enemies will not have enough damage potential to cause any threat.
After the battle, Alvar and Dramon were amazed by the quality of gear they found od dead Wildlings.
Alvar was worried while Dramon was furious with the fact that he nearly evaded a mortal blow by an enemy high-quality claymore. The biggest problem was because they haven’t a clue where Wildlings supply themselves. Alvar had few ideas about that and he thought that Wildlings leader probably smuggling supplies beyond the wall from the less guarded Castles.
They agreed to continue on and find the clues.
Soon they found another Group of Wildlings.
In this mission, you will face Tank, 2-Handed Weapon unit, 2-Weapons unit, and Archer. Your units and Heroes must be at least Level 8. Skip the first turn and let enemies come close to you. Be sure to remove your squishier units from the enemy archer range.
Obstacles will protect your range units from enemy melee units. Be sure to dispose of enemy Archer and 2-Weapons unit and then deal with the other 2 units. After the recent update, Archer was removed from this mission but the tactics remained the same.
After the battle Rangers started moving further into the woods and they found even stronger opposition.
This is another mission where you will only have to skip first turn and annihilate enemies in the second. You will face the same composition as in the previous mission with 1 difference. Instead2-Handed Weapon unit you will face 1-Handed Weapon unit. Be sure to put your Archer near the obstacles so he could benefit from it. When enemies come near kill them in the same order as before – kill squishier units first. After the recent update, Archer was removed from this mission so you will have to deal with only 3 enemies.
Rangers continued their journey and came across a ridge where they found a body of the Giant and band of heavily armored Wildlings.
In this mission, you will face 2 2-Weapons units and 2 Archers. They will be Level 12-13 which means that your troops have to be at least Level 9. Enemies will be 1 cell away meaning that you cannot wait for them to come closer but you must attack them first. Be careful though because you won’t be able to approach enemy Archers in the first turn so be sure to move squishier units from their range. You may send your Horsemen (if you have one at the moment) on the enemy side close to Archers so you can engage them in the second turn. Your goal is to kill all enemies in 10 turns. The tactic is simple. You must deal with melee units first and then dispose of archers. You must be careful to avoid losing any units if you want to get all 3 stars. After the recent update, the number of enemy Archers was reduced to only one making this mission somewhat easier.
When Night Watch dealt with Wildlings, Alvar and Dramon came close to the body of Giant.
They were curious about what this Giant had to do with Wildlings and if he fought along with them. Dramon thought that is irrelevant and that is another trail run cold. They continued to for signs and came to the edge of the ridge. When he saw a sighting before him, Alvar was certain that they are closer to something and that they will find what they are looking for if they get deeper into the woods.
They continued to follow Red Raven signs and soon came upon a camp guarded by few Wildlings and their leader.
When Wildlings noticed them they run away and the only Leader stayed to protect the cargo in camp.
In this mission, you will face stand-alone Leader of the Wildlings named Warg. Your units will be placed on 4 edges of the screen while Warg will be in the middle. Warg is level 15 and he is an Archer. The tactic is simple – move melee units next to him as fast as possible and he will be forced to use melee weapons instead of his mighty bow. Avoid attacking him with Archer if he is not surrounded by melee units because he will retaliate and most probably kill your archer. Once you surround him the battle will be easy. He has a high amount of health so be careful to not lose a unit while killing him.
When Alvar and Dramon subdued the Leader they found out that was the notorious Warg, a cunning criminal responsible for smuggling and stealing. Warg asked for mercy and told them he was once a member of the Night Watch.
Dramon was angry and he told him that they are not brothers and that he deserves to die. Warg said that he didn’t do any harm to anyone and that he is just a smuggler.
Dramon wasn’t convinced and he said that barely escaped death dozens of times when fighting against Wildlings who were equipped with Warg’s weapons. Warg insisted that he is not a fighter but only a seller and that he doesn’t deserve to be sentenced to death.
After a long silence, Alvar asked him to whom he sells his weapons.
Warg immediately answered that his buyer is a leader of Wildlings named Lokrand.
He also said that Lokrands commands all Wildlings west from the camp. Alvar and Dramon never heard for Lokrand before and asked Warg to give them more information. Warg said that Lokrand is a strange and powerful man.
Alvar then realized that they talk with a person who is nothing more than Night Watch deserter and that the real Warg is Lokrand. Before they continued, Alvar asked Defeated Man does he knows something about Bloodraven but he did he didn’t get any answer at all. He also asked him about Red Raven Markings and what it represents but the answer he got was not something he hoped for.
Defeated Leader of Wildlings explained Alvar that those Markings are just old symbols from Red Raven legend and that they using them only for smuggling. He also gave Alvar the map of smuggling routes.
Once again Dramon realized that Alvar is chasing a ghost.
Night Watch Company moved further west chasing the clues provided Night Watch deserter…
Night Watch Company moved further west chasing the clues provided Night Watch deserter. While walking through the forest, Dramon realized this was the farthest he went west before.
While he was taking Alvar interrupted him and told that he hears something. Soon they saw a group of Wargs and Wildlings charging towards them and in the distance, they saw a distant figure.
That was Lokrand for sure, but now they had more important matters to attend.
In this mission, your goal is to survive at least 5 turns. You will face 2 Wargs, 1 1-handed weapon unit, and 1 Archer. Wargs hit really hard so be sure to pace units, that can sustain a lot of damage, against them. Your units will be 2 cells away from the enemy starting line so it is best to retreat one cell in the first turn and to wait that enemies come to you avoiding being attacked in the process. When they come, use all skills that will be ready in the second turn and be sure to eliminate Archer first. Keep your squishy units from the Wargs movement range and focus at one Warg at the time while tanking the other. If you did everything right you will be able to clear the mission with 3 stars easily. After the recent update, the enemy Archer unit was removed from the mission making it even easier.
After they dealt with Wargs, Dramon said that they are vicious and coordinated animals. Alvar agreed and said that wolves were coordinated because they were controlled by Warg’s nasty work. Dramon replied that he didn’t think that wolves are animals but that Wildlings are animals.
He explained that they are following and tracking them even now as they move forward to Frozen Shores. Later that night they made a camp at the edge of forest and Alvar said:
He also said that Frozen Shore is a sparse, rocky and cold place. Dramon replied that the whole North is similar. While they were talking some Rangers noticed that a group of Wildlings charge against the camp. Alvar was surprised but he was ready.
In this mission, your units will be placed in all 4 edges of the screen while enemies will be in the middle. You will face Tank, 2-Handed Weapon unit, 2-Weapons unit, and Archer. Archer will be exposed so focus on him immediately. Depending on your team composition your focus should be placed on enemy 2-Handed Weapon unit or on 2-Weapons unit that will be protected at first. The battle itself is not very hard if your team is at least level 13. After the recent update, an Archer unit was removed from this mission so you can now approach to 2-Weapons unit at start and avoid being flanked by it.
After they removed the treat in the camp Alvar called Rangers to report in. Everything went well but that was too close for Alvar’s stomach. Dramon had an idea:
He thought that Wildlings have an upper hand if things remain the same. Alvar agreed but he was aware that Wildlings have eyes where Rangers don’t have. Nevertheless, Alvar decided to continue forth on the way down from the lower peaks of the Frostfangs into rocky outcroppings overlooking the Frozen Shores. Soon a group of Wildlings challenged them by blocking their way forward.
In this mission, you will face 2-Weapons unit, 2-handed Weapon unit, 1-handed Weapon unit, and Archer. Obstacles on the battleground work in your favor preventing enemy units to engage all your forces. there will be just 1 narrow cell that will be exposed and where you can protect your ranged units by your Tank. You should let enemies move forward in the first turn and attack them in second. 2-Handed Weapon user will be against your tank. You should slowly take him out while surrounding other enemy units by moving around the obstacles. In this mission, it would be wise to lead at least 2 Archers. After the recent update, an enemy Archer was removed from the mission and your job in keeping units alive will be much easier. You will need units and Heroes on at least Level 13 for clearing this mission.
After the battle, Dramon started to complain to Alvar.
Alvar told him that ambushes by Wildlings are proof that they are coming closer to Lokrand and that he is certain that Lokrand’s lair is somewhere north of the Bridge of Skulls. Alvar said that and tried to show the map to Dramon but Dramon was annoyed:
He also said that he is certain that Wargs that ambushing them aren’t using that map. Alvar told him that he misses the point and that with every fight they draw out Lokrands warriors weakening him in the process. He concluded that in the end, they will find Lokrand himself and that there will be no one to protect him.
Alvar told them to get ready and they marched forward. The next day they came upon another group of Lokrand’s associates.
In this mission, you will be surrounded by Wildlings. There will be Tank, 2 2-Handed Weapon wielders, and Archer. Obstacles in the middle will prevent your units to go into formation so you will be forced to split focus into 2 different enemy units. My suggestion is to go after a 2-Handed Weapon unit on the left side and after Archer. After you kill the first 2-Handed Weapon enemy focus on second. Leave the Tank for the end. Enemies in this mission are much stronger than in earlier mission so you must be careful. Because you will not be able to protect many units I advise you to lead 1 Archer at most. After the recent update, an enemy Archer was removed from the mission making things a little bit easier.
When they cleared the first group, Alvar noticed another Widling with a pack of animals in distance. Rangers sneaked towards them and confronted them when the time was right.
In this mission, you will fight against Tank, 2 2-Weapon units, and Archer. Your army will be divided into 2 groups of 2 units that will be directly behind obstacles. Use obstacles to force enemies to come towards you and then attack. IF you skip the first turn. enemies will not be able to attack you immediately and after movement, they will be scattered. You should use both units from both groups against each 2-Weapon unit first and after that, you should deal with Archer and tank. After the recent update, an Archer enemy unit was removed from the mission, enabling you to clear this mission more easily.
After successfully dealt with Wildlings Alvar confessed to Dramon that take back his words that Wargs are not working together. Dramon replied that he is ready to forget everything he learned as a Ranger and Raven’s Teeth archer on this mission. After a short silence, Alvar realized that they scouted every corner north of the Gorge and that Lokrand must be near the Bridge of Skulls. They continued in that direction.
When they came to the Bridge of Skulls they found a group of Wildlings guarding the outpost.
Dramon asked the first of them is he Lokrand. They remained silent. Dramon asked again.
Wildlings responded that Lokrand is not here. Dramon asked them if he is on the other side of the bridge or in one of these caves around here but Wildlings refused to answer and told it doesn’t matter for him either way because Rangers will not cross the Bridge.
In this mission, you will face enemies in close quarters combat. You will be on the bridge just one cell away from Wildlings. The 2-Weapons unit will be closest, with Tank, Archer, and 2-Handed Weapon unit behind it. There is no point in retreating so you should attack the closest unit right away. You should be careful though to avoid exposing your squishier units too much. After killing 2-Weapons unit you should focus on Archer and 2-Handed Weapon unit. In the end, you should confront Tank. Enemies in this mission are Level 20 and 21 therefore your army has to be level 16 at least. After the recent update, an Archer unit was removed from this mission making it easier.
After they eliminated the first outpost on Bridge Alvar and Dramon started moving across the bridge. When they were in the idle of the bridge Wildlings from both sides of the bridge charged towards them.
Rangers saw that they are in the trap but they realized that they finally reached their target. One of the wildlings who chased them was Lokrand.
This is the final mission of the third chapter. This mission will be the hardest at this point in the game. You will be surrounded on the bridge by 5 enemy units and Lokrand. Lokrand is an Archer who has a special skill “Poisoned Shot”. The other 5 units are 1 Archer, 1 Crossbowman, 2 1-Handed Weapon units, and 1 2-Weapons unit. Your goal is to kill Lokrand within 10 turns. Unless your level is significantly higher than the level of enemies (Level 20-22) you will have to dispose of all enemy units first before you start killing Lokrand. To do that you must focus on the left side first where you should kill Archer and Crossbowmen first. Crossbowman can move only 1 tile but he has a range of 3 cells. Be sure to put your slower unit closer to the left side while your range unit should face the right side of the bridge. When the battle starts all your units should move towards the left side. Do not attack 2-Weapons unit on the left side with your melee units, only focus on ranged units. With your archer try to hit 2-Weapon unit in the first turn but be sure to go out of range of unit on the right side. When you kill all units on the left side focus on remaining 1-Handed Weapon units on the left side. IF you had luck you should be able to focus on one unit at the time. Be sure that your tanky unit is closest to Lokrand because his ranged attacks are devastating. When Lokrand remains the only enemy on the map surround him with your melee units and only after that attack him with your ranged unit/s. If you use your Archers on him before he will retaliate and most certainly kill your Archer. If you did everything right you should be able to narrowly clear the mission without losses. The suggested Level of your units and Heroes for this mission is Level 18.
After the fierce battle with Lokrand, wounded Rangers started to search for Lokrand’s hideout. In one of the nearby caves, they found his base of operations.
Alvar’s suspicions were true. Lokrands gathered supplies for some kind of Raid below the Wall. The place that was targeted on Lokrand’s map was The Wolfswood.
Alvar was surprised. He didn’t understand why would a Warg bother raiding a forest 400 miles below the Wall. Dramon has his own theory:
He also was very satisfied with the results of their search and he was especially happy since it was ended proving that he was right and that Red Raven is just a legend.
Alvar agreed and decided to report that news tomorrow. Because it was late and winds were strong they decided to make a camp in Lokrand’s hideout for that night. While he was sleeping, Alvar dreamed of very strange things.
Rangers get back to the castle to look for Maester Aemon who had news for them…
After they defeated Lokrand, Rangers get back to the castle to look for Maester Aemon who had news for them. He informed them that old hermit Jarden sent a Raven and asked Alvar to come to him because he has important information. He also said that Wildlings leader Thenn is camping along the MIlkwater planning to move against Night Watch. That wasn’t the only news Maester Aemon had. The Hand of the King of Westeros informed them that missing Northern woman has a name – she is known as Relina and she is related to a noble family in the Wolfswood. Kin was clear – the Night Watch must find missing women sooner rather than later. When Alvar heard all the news he told Dramon to inform the troops that they are going North again, early in the morning. The plan is to go and meet with Jarden and then to try to find Relina.
The next morning Ranger started their journey to Jarden ‘s meeting place. After a day of riding, they came close to their destination but Dramon noticed that something is wrong.
In this mission, you will face 5 enemies. 2-Weapons unit, 2-Handed Weapon unit, 1-Handed Weapon unit, Tank, and Archer. Archer and Tank will be behind obstacles and you will not be able to approach them therefore the best course of action is to retreat 1 cell away. If you do that you will get the opportunity to quickly eliminate 2-Weapons units and 2-Handed Weapon unit in the second turn. After that, your goal should be to avoid Archer’s attacks and to kill him as soon possible which shouldn’t be a hard task since he had to move towards you leaving the protection of obstacles. After you dispose of Archer killing Tank and 1-Handed Weapon unit should be easy. Enemies in this mission are between Level 20 and 24 meaning that your team should be at least Level 18.
After dealing with the ambush, Rangers continued to the meeting point and soon they found Jarden.
Dramon was surprised by Jarden’s scouting abilities and he praised his eyes.
He also said that Thenn doesn’t know how to hide in those woods like he does. Alvar asked does the Thenn’s tribe fighting with other tribes but Jarden declined. Alvar was confused and asked will they move further south. but Jarden declined this also. Jarden explained that in his opinion Thenn’s forces want only to scout the area and to challenge Night Watch if that is possible. Dramon was amazed by Jarden.
Jarden answered that he is always wandering through the land nobody else knows as he does. He listens to everything, even the wind in the leaves, and he knows everything that is happening in this part of the land.
After a while, Alvar said that all those things Jarden wrote in the letter are just too strange and asked him does he has any evidence for his claims. Jarden replied that he can’t hear the Old Gods anymore and that strange things happening indeed. Dramon asked him does he witnessed anything he wrote about or he is just telling them what he heard in visions but Jarden was certain that something is wrong.
Dramon wasn’t convinced and said that Jarden actually saw nothing. Jarden replied it may be nothing but Thenns are not anything. With those words, Jarden gave them a map with Thenn’s scout camps.
Alvar thanked Jarden and said they will go and find those camps immediately. After that, Night Watch left Jarden and started their search for Thenn.
While they were searching they stumble upon a hostile encounter.
In this mission, you will fight against 2 Crossbowman, Spearman, and 2-Weapons unit. Enemies will be placed close to you so you will be forced to engage them immediately. 1 Crossbowman will be protected by obstacle but you should be able to quickly eliminate other Crossbowman and 2-Weapons unit. Keep in mind that Spearman can assist enemy attacks so do not expose your units to Spearmen if other units are adjacent to your unit. After killing the first Crossbowman you should focus on the second Crossbowman keeping in mind that at this point some of your units can be badly hurt. Try to avoid losing a unit and deal with the rest of the enemies.
After the battle, Alvar remembered Mayla’s riddle and he realized that she predicted all their moves so far. Chasing Thenn is just another thing that Mayla already told them.
With that in mind, he pursued his investigation and found another group of enemies.
In this mission, you will face 2 Crossbowman and 2 Tanks. Your units will be on opposite sides of the screen meaning that you will have to decide which units will deal with Tanks and which with Crossbowman. The best course of action is to send one tanky unit to deal with Tanks and buy time while other units chasing Crossbowmen. If you have a Horse unit you will be able to move fast towards Crossbowmen even it is on the opposite side of the screen. This practically means that you will need one Archer on the left side along with a Chosen Hero. Dram is particularly good for this mission because if he is properly leveled he can one-shot Crossbowman. When you kill both Crossbowmen you should take care of Tanks easily. The proposed level for this mission is Level 20.
Night Watch continued their pursue only to be ambushed by another group Wildlings Rangers.
This mission is very tricky. It is not that hard but it very difficult to avoid losing a unit at that moment of the game. You will face 4 Archers who will be 3 cells away from you with only 1 possible route of approaching. My advice is to retreat as much as possible and to wait that as many Archers as possible come to the open ground where you can approach them freely even that means that you will take the initial shot from some of them. If you engage in the middle of the battlefield, obstacles will prevent you from reaching your targets and you will most certainly lose some of your units from their ranged attacks. Be sure to kill one Archer at the time and do not allow yourself to attack them if you are not certain that you will kill them. In this mission, every attack counts and you must be very smart to avoid losing units. However, if your level is 25 or higher you will have no difficulties at all.
After the battle a scout Ranger came in hurry with grim news – Jarden’s hut was ruined and there is no sign of him. Dramon suggested that Rangers split forces and some of them start looking for Jarden while the other continues to pursue, but while he was speaking they were attacked by Wildlings who followed Ranger scout.
This mission is not that hard. You will face 2 Archers and 2 2-Weapons units. Archers will be close to you but they will be protected with an obstacle that needs to be destroyed in the first turn preferably with a slower unit like a 2-Handed Weapon unit. If your Hero is Alvar you should move next to the first Archer and kill him while second Archer should be attacked with your Archer. Some tanky unit should be moved towards 2-Weapons enemy units to act as Tank while you are dealing with enemy Archers. If you did everything right your Hero should approach the rest of enemy units from the back and you should easily eliminate them after that.
After they repelled the Attack they noticed that the Leader of the group is running away. Alvar also noticed that he wears a bow that is too familiar. He tried to slow him down by asking a question.
Wildling asked him did he like it and taunt him to come and take it.
Alvar immediately recognized the bow and he knew that was Bloodraven’s bow but he asked him where he got it nevertheless. Wildling answered that he picked it from the dead bones of the member of Night Watch. While he was speaking another group of Wildlings approached ready to help their leader in the upcoming fight.
In this mission, you will face 2 2-Handed Weapon units, Crossbowman and 2-Weapons unit. 2-Handed Weapon units will be in front but I strongly suggested that you move away from them using your ranged units for skirmishing tactic until other enemy units come within your melee range. Because 2-Handed Weapon units have only 1 cell moving range, an enemy Crossbowman will become exposed really soon and everything you need is to wait and avoid being in his range. After you kill an Archer move on the 2-Weapons unit but be careful to not place your units open to 2-Handed Weapon unit cleaving ability. In the end deal with 2-Handed Weapon units one at the time. In this mission, enemy units have a really high level so you will have to be well prepared for them. Level 24 is the minimum level for this mission.
Alvar prevailed again but he didn’t succeed in catching an enemy leader who once again threatens and dared him.
Alvar replied that no one who loses every battle can teach him anything but Scout Leader was persistent.
He also warned him that Wildlings have allies Night Watch don’t want to meet and that those allies are ancient and older than wood in the bow Alvar is chasing. Alvar replied that Night Watch is older than all his allies and that they are not afraid of anything. Thenn Scout Leader just laughed and told him to follow them then.
Alvar and his companions were not afraid and did exactly that- they followed the Thenn’s scouts until they reached a circle of stones arranged in a wide spiral pattern. There Night Watch understood that Wildlings really have Ancient allies.
Rangers regrouped fast and prepared for battle with mighty Giant.
This is the final mission of Chapter 4 and you will face only one enemy – a mighty Giant. Giant has an ability called Rapid Slash. It causes devastating damage to everyone in the line and places Slow (movement reduction). Giant also has a cleaving attack that can hit primary and adjacent targets. You have 10 turns to kill him and somehow avoid the death of all available units in your team. The strategy is simple to lead as many ranged units as possible and at least 1 melee unit with high sustain and self-healing. At this point in the game, it is hard to meet those requirements and it is most likely that at this moment you will have Winterfell Rider, Champion of Winter, Raventree Elite, 1 or 2 other units leveled high enough and Alvar and Dramon. In my opinion, it is better to lead Dramon in this mission but Alvar has self-healing and if he is trained in the defensive tree he could be the tank you are looking for. It is highly unlikely that you will be able to keep all units alive if you have only one melee unit when you first enter this mission so it would be best to try to split damage received between 2 melee units. Giant’s skill is devastating in the true meaning of that word and you must count CD of the skill in order to avoid that more than one of your units is hit by it. Cd of Rapid Slash is 3 turns but it can be used for the first time in the second turn of combat. If you succeed in delivering enough damage by your damage dealers and avoid being attacked, you will probably be able to kill Giant in 10 turns. Keep in mind that Giant will retaliate your every melee attack so do not attack him with basic attacks of your melee units if that is not absolutely necessary. Giant is slow and you will be able to kite him but he has a huge amount of Health so be careful if you want to kill him in time. In this battle, every attack counts – both yours and Giant. Good luck!
After the fierce battle Alvar scouted the vicinity. He found an open cage nearby.
He had a pretty good idea who was imprisoned in that cage.
Later that day while he was seating by the fire, Alvar was approached by an unexpected guest. Mayla showed up again without warning and started to speak in riddles. Alvar asked her does she knows why his enemies have Bloodraven’s bow and asked her was it the arrow she showed them also Bloodraven’s. Mayla answered that the arrow points the way. Alvar was confused and asked her where arrow points but Mayla was enigmatic again and answered: ”A father once said childless, now seeks children”. Alvar was curious about what she is talking about and who is that person but after she mentioned black, white, and red color he recognized that were the colors of weirwood. In the end, she told him to chase the Thenn and to block the Then and after that, he will get all answers he needs.
Rangers prepared to continue their pursuit for Thenn’s forces…
Tomorrow, Rangers prepared to continue their pursuit for Thenn’s forces. They pulled out of the Haunted Forest but left small groups guarding their retreat. Alvar was aware of their intentions.
Night Watch scout was certain that the group before them was just one of the defenders they left behind them. Alvar knew what he had to do.
This is a straightforward mission where you will have all foes in the same line – 2-Weapons unit, Tank, Archer, and 2-Handed Weapon unit. The only thing you will have to do is to skip first turn and to let them come near to you. After that, you should eliminate Archer and 2-Weapons unit first with your skills. Keep away from the 2-Handed Weapon unit range and kill it after you dealt with damage dealers. The Tank should be left for the end.
After they eliminated the guards. Rangers continues towards Skirling Pass. After a while, they stumbled upon a woman who was about to be attacked by a group of ferocious animals.
In this mission, you will be surrounded by 2 Bears and 2 Wargs. Both animals strike really hard so be sure that your squishier units are not in their reach. They will be very close to you so there is no point to wait for them to come close – you must engage them immediately. In this mission, it is best to lead 3 melee units because it is hard to protect 2 Archers because of the enemy formation. You should kill 1 beast at the time but keep in mind that Wargs should be your first priority since they are easier to kill and inflict more damage. Enemies are levels 33 and 34 but this shouldn’t be a problem for you at the time because you had to level up your troops for the Giant fight before.
When they subdued the beasts they approached a woman and noticed that she is wearing a mask.
It seems that she hadn’t any intention to speak with them but Alvar yelled at her. He asked who is she and why she is here since she is not a Thenn. She confirmed that she isn’t. Alvar asked for who she is fighting for and from what tribe she is. She replied that she is fighting for herself and that she belongs to her own tribe. Rangers in Alvar’s company were not eager to believe her but Alvar remained calm and asked her to tell them her name.
Alvar realized that she must know these woods very well because that was the only explanation of the scene they witnessed before when she solely engaged pack of wild animals. Thosa confirmed that he is right and told him that she spent her whole life in those parts. Alvar then figured out that she could help them in chasing Thenn and offered her to help them. She said she has no love for the Thenn or any other Bandits but that she will not do it for free.
After the new ally joined their ranks, Night Watch continued their journey to Skirling Pass. It didn’t pass long before they could witness the capabilities of Thosa. A new group of hostile Wildlings was blocking their way and Alvar had to fight with them.
In this mission, you will face 2 2-Handed Weapon units, 2-Weapons unit, and a Tank. Enemies will at least2 cells away from your most exposed unit at the start meaning that the best course of action is to skip first turn and wait for them to come closer. Enemies in this mission will Level 34 and 35 and their attacks will be very dangerous. You should kill 2-Weapons unit first and then 2-Handed Weapon units each at the time. The Tank should be left for the end. 2Handed Weapon units can move only 1 tile so I suggest that you lead 2 Archers in this mission.
After the battle Rangers made a camp for the Night. Alvar took that time to join Thosa by the fire and learn more about her. He noticed that the armor she wears looks northern. Thosa asked him does he means that she stole that armor but Alvar denied that. Thosa also said that she thinks that scavenging from the dead is not stealing but Alvar replied that all he wanted to say is that she has wisely chosen the armor and that he doesn’t question her morals. They both agreed that living beyond the Wall is not an easy task although people do that for a thousand years, same as Night Watch. Thosa was curious why they chasing Thenn that far in the North since their job is only to protect the Wall. Alvar replied that their job is not to protect the Wall but to protect the Realm of Men. Thosa was surprised since she cared till then only about herself. Alvar stood silent for the moment and then he told her again that is to very strange to see a Wildling or Freefolk without a tribe. Thosa remained silent and they slowly fell to sleep.
Tomorrow they continued and soon they stumble upon a new Thenn’s guard outpost. They had to fight.
In this mission, you will be surrounded by 2 Tanks and 2 2-Weapon units. Strategy for this mission is simple – engage 2-Weapon units on the left with all your units and move away from Tanks on the right side. Having 2 Melee units and 2 Archers at least level 30 will be enough for clearing this mission with ease. Focus your attacks at one unit at the time and keep your archers protected.
After the battle, Thosa said to Alvar that their tactic is wrong. Instead of clearing one guard outpost at the time, she thought that they should go directly to Skirling Pass and attack Wildlings when they don’t expect. Alvar replied that they can’t do that because he knows only one route to Skirling Pass and that is through the Wildlings posts. Thosa convinced him that he should listen to her because she knows a secret path through the mountains. After a brief consideration, Alvar accepted her proposal, and Rangers followed her lead.
However, while marching to the Mountain, they couldn’t avoid attacks of roaming Wildlings in the Area.
In this mission, you will fight against 3 2-Handed Weapon units and one 2-Weapons unit. Enemies will be at least 2 cells away when the battle starts and you won’t be able to lure faster 2-Weapons unit in the open because other enemies will be blocking the way so you will probably have to engage 3 enemy units at the time. This will be a frontal battle so you should try to take the position which will allow you to attack a single enemy with as many units as possible in the single turn. If you succeed in focusing all your attack on the single target you will have no difficulties with this mission. It will not be particularly hard if your level is 30 and above. Leading as many archers as possible is always a good tactic in the mission where most of the enemy units can move only 1 tile per turn.
When they came to Skirling pass, Rangers had to subdue a Giant. Before he died Thosa started to talk with him and Giant said that they were deceived.
He also said that prophecy lied and that Night Watch shouldn’t attack them first. He continued:
Alvar was confused because he understood that someone ordered Wildlings to fight against Night Watch. He tried to learn who is behind it.
But it was too late, a Giant was already dead.
Alvar was tired of riddles and he asked Thosa why everyone beyond the Wall speak in riddles. Thosa replied that Giants are ancient people who still talk to the Old Gods and when they say “the trees” that is what they mean. At that point, Alvar realized that Thenn will not let them hold the pass and ordered his troops to attack.
In this mission, you will face 4 2-Weapons enemy units. 2-weapons units are fast so you will not be able to kite them with your Archers, therefore, I suggest that for this mission you assemble a team of 3 melee units and 1 Archer. It is possible to retreat by 1 tile in the first turn but that will not break the enemy formation, so it is to engage them and try to split their attacks into 2 different tanky units. It is highly possible that some of your units will be near death after the second turn so it is of utmost importance to move out of danger if that is needed rather than try to perform an attack at any cost. Enemies in this mission will be Level 38 so you will have to be at least Level 31 for successfully clearing the mission without losses.
After they have beaten the guards of Skirling pass, Rangers tried to regroup knowing that Thenn’s forces will retaliate soon. Unfortunately, they hadn’t enough time to do that and soon they saw the well-known Leader of Thenn’s troops along with his deadly group of elite Wildling warriors.
Alvar tried to rally his man but the only thing he could say was:
This is the final mission of Chapter 5 and it is very hard at the moment you opened it, especially if you want to achieve 3 stars. You will face 6 enemies Level 39-40 – a Boss (Freefolk Trapper, 2-Weapons unit with increased damage and HP), 3 Archers, Tank, and 2-Handed Weapon unit. The battle screen is very small (only 27 tiles) and you will not have the opportunity to retreat a bit in the attempt to lure enemies to expose as single targets. There will be 2 obstacles that may seem helpful but in reality, those will not protect you since you will face 3 high-level Archers. The best course of action is to attack enemies with your archers in the first turn and to wait with your melee units that opponents move hoping that they will block them allowing you to use AoE skills in the second turn. The problem is that the Boss will most certainly hit you first but that is the only option to allow their Archers to move closer. The goal in this mission is to survive 5 turns so it may be wise to have as many healing traits as possible. If you succeed in removing Archers fast you will be ok. In my experience, you will have to be at least Level 35 to pass this mission. For this mission, I used Alvar, Champion of Winter, Winterfell Rider, and Raventree Elite. All 3 units had third skill unlocked allowing Stark’s unit to heal each turn while I used Alvar’s skill only after his health was below 50%. You may need a few attempts to clear this mission with 3 stars but at this moment you should have enough experience to know what to do.
After the battle, Thosa and Alvar stood above fallen Wildlings trying to take a breath.
Alvar was honest and admitted that this idea was Thosa’s and that it worked perfectly. Thosa replied that she has to tell him something. She said that she was too close to dying but Alvar saved her numerous times during this battle and because of that she has to be honest with him. She then removed her mask and told him her secret.
Alvar couldn’t speak, but he immediately realized that Relina is a mission Northern Woman everyone looking for. He asked her how she escaped her kidnappers but the answer was not something he expected.
Relina explained that she was born in Wolfswood as a bastard and that her mother had too high expectations form her which made her run away and become free from this world that fathers and mothers decide the pain you receive. Relina also said that Alvar was the only one who knows her secret and that she never told that to anyone else. Alvar thanked her and show her his admiration.
In the middle of the talk, they heard 2 horns which meant that more Wildlings is coming their way. They quickly come to the overlook and they couldn’t believe what they see.
The entire force of hostile Wildlings helped with Giants was approaching and the only thing Alvar could do was to rally his troops.
With those words, Night Watch started their long retreat to the Fist of First Men. During the retreat Dramon finally showed up but he was alone and without success in finding Jarden. Alvar introduced him with Thosa eager to hear what happened in the meantime.
Alvar, Dramon, and Thosa started a debate about how they should organize their defending forces…
After a few days at the Fist of First Man, Alvar, Dramon, and Thosa started a debate about how they should organize their defending forces. Dramon concluded that Wilding forces will be upon them until the evening and Thosa agreed. She also said that they should put archers above the path to the Fist but Dramon wasn’t eager to hear her bits of advice. In short, he didn’t consider her as an experienced warrior. Alvar’s opinion was that they must defeat all the forces that surround them if they want to fold the Fist. Dramon was doubtful and he told them the news he has.
He also said that broken forces of Gromyr started to join ranks with Scarnest and that threat is real. As he spoke, Scouts sounded the alarm.
In this mission, you will be surrounded by 5 enemies and your goal will be to survive 5 turns. You will face 2 1-Handed Weapon units, 2-Handed Weapon unit, and 2 2-Weapons units. Your units will start the battle in a corner protected by 2 obstacles. The best course of action is to place 2 sturdy melee units to defend archers that will harass enemy units that try to breach the defenses. Since enemy units never destroy obstacles 1 Archer should be placed in the middle next to obstacles where he’ll be able to attack all enemies. The second archer should stay behind allied defending units and support the unit that needs support the most. For clearing this mission your team should be at least level 33.
After the successfully repelled the attack Alvar, Dramon, and those decided to take offensive action against Wildlings and prepared troops for moving. It hasn’t passed long before they found the first group of Wildling ready to be ambushed.
In this mission you will face 5 Crossbowman level 43-44, The battlefield will be filled with obstacles that will complicate things even further. Crossbowman has an attacking range of 3 and it will be extremely difficult to finish the mission without losing at least one unit. The best strategy is to have as many Horse units as possible and to equip your Hero with a Healing card. AT this point Alvar will have a movement of 3 tiles so he can help a lot. Champion of Winter is also ideal for this fight because he gets 1 movement point whenever an ally is attacked so he could charge in the midst of enemy ranks easily. Most obstacles cannot be destroyed so you will have only 2 possible ways of approaching your enemy. You should move on 2 sides because that is the only way of avoiding that some of your units been targeted by all enemy Crossbowman which will definitely lead to the death of your unit. You will probably not be able to clear this mission with 3 stars the first time you open it so it might be wise just to finish it for the start.
After the successful ambush Alvar decided to rest in open under the Tree. His dreams were strange.
Tomorrow, Rangers continued their hunt for Wildlings. Soon they came near the Frozen Rover where they found Ice-River Clansmen. Before the fight, Dramon has to say something about them.
After that they attacked.
In this mission, you will be on bridge surrounded by 5 enemies. You will face 2 Archers and Tank on the right side of the screen and 2-Handed Weapon unit and 2 Weapons unit behind you, on the left side of the screen. You will not have enough space to maneuver so you will have to be smart. The best strategy is to put your melee units close to the Archers on the right side and to put 1 tanky unit and Archer on the left side. While your right side is dealing with Archers your backline must endure long enough to get help. Depending on the situation your Archer should ether help your Tank or he should finish off enemy Archers. This mission may seem difficult but it is much easier then previous mission especially if you want to keep all your units alive. Enemies in this mission are Level 45-46 so you will need that your team is at least level 37.
After Rangers crossed the Frozen River, they continued forward and left the woods. While they marched they noticed silhouettes of Wargs watching them. They decide to attack them first but Thosa had to explain to them how to do it.
Dramon told her that they know how to deal with Wargs and told her about their experience with Lokrand. Alvar was impatient and stopped their chat by ordering an attack.
In this mission, you will be surrounded by 5 high-Level Wargs. You will not be able to protect your squishier units so it should be wise to take only 1 Archer in your team. Animals will be next to you so you must engage them immediately. You will also not be able to focus your attacks on the single target so you will have to fight with them frontally and use Your Archer to finish off the most injured targets. It will be hard to keep your Archer alive and that will be your most important task. Other than that this is simple combat. Wargs will be level 47-48 and at this point, you will need at least 1 unit above Level 40 which gear is fully upgraded.
When they dealt with Wargs our company continued their march in an attempt to find more Wildlings groups that can be attacked without warning. As they moved from the clearing they entered the Forest again and found the remains of Gromyr’s troops ready to avenge their master.
Dramon was ready for combat and thing he could say was:
After that, they engaged the enemy.
In this mission, you will fight against 2 Archers, Tank, 2-handed Weapon unit, and 2-Weapons unit. Enemies will be placed opposite of you. The top side of the enemy formation can reach you in the first turn while the bottom side is somewhat slower and there you will have the opportunity to catch an enemy Archer exposed. It is of utmost importance that you eliminate Archers as soon as possible. Alvar is ideal for this mission especially if he is built with increased Defense. He can sustain a lot of damage as a tank and buy you enough tie to eliminate enemy archers. Keep in mind that at this point you will not be able to one-shot archers even with skills so be extremely careful. Enemy Tank should be ignored until the end while the 2-Handed Weapon unit should be kitted. Enemies in this mission are level 49-50 and your units will need at least Level 40 to successfully clear it.
With the elimination of Gromyr’s remains, Rangers decided to return to the Fist expecting that they did enough to lure Scarnest to attack them. They were right. It didn’t pass long before Scarnest showed with the rest of his forces.
Dramon asked him did he misses his brother and does he came to ask them what they did with him. Scarnest was furious and started to threaten them to retreat on the Wall or face death. Alvar answered him that their job is to protect the land against the men like him and that they will never retreat. Scarnest then took his attention to Thosa and started to mock and undermine her.
Thosa removed her mask and answered that no man tells her what to do. Scarnest lost his patience and order his troops to attack.
This is the final mission of Chapter 6. You will face Scarnest (2-Handed Weapon Boss with “Whirlwind” Skill), 2 Archers, Spearmen, and 2-Weapons unit. Your goal is to kill Scarnest within 10 turns but in order to do that, you will have to kill other units as well. Enemies will be 2 cells away from you and the best course of action is to skip first turn and let them come. Dealing with other units should not be a problem but Scarnest is a real problem. He has tons of health, his “Whirlwind” ability places bleeding debuff to all units around him and his Defense is enormous. Also, keep an eye on enemy Spearmen because he can assist adjacent allies, and he hits really hard. For this mission, I had Champion of Winter level 50, Winterfell Rider level 40, Raventree Elite level 40, and Alvar level 44 with a fully improved Defense tree. Alvar also had a Balanced Training Card that increases Damage and Damage reduction of all allies by 7%. With this team, I killed Scarnest in turn 7 but the damage received from other units was minimal. I had to use my Raventree Elite to tank 1 enemy Archer shot but that was necessary and haven’t influenced the outcome of battle except in a good way. You should try to finish this mission with 3 stars because it will award you with 10 North Badges which are essential for the upgrading of your Northern units that will be your priority at that time.
After the battle, Dramon confessed to Relina that he didn’t expect that she fights so well and apologize to her for earlier disbelief.
He even said that she would be amongst the best archers in Bloodraven’s company. Relina recalled the name and realized that Bloodraven is someone who Alavar was chasing in the first place. Dramon said that he is a long-gone but that Alvar won’t accept it. Then he proposed that Night Watch made her an honorary Night’s Watch Archer. Relina replied that she would not accept anything less than a Ranger and then she laughed. Dramon said that is Alvar’s decision but Relina thanked him and said that she wouldn’t join Night Watch anyway even they accept girls instead of just boys. Alvar concluded:
She confirmed it, but she also said that she believes them and that she could be their eyes beyond the wall. Alvar thanked her and told that she was a true ally and that they will take any help they can get. Dramon felt at that moment that storm is coming in and called her to drink ale with them but Relina answered a well-known sentence.
This concludes the last existing Chapter of the game. With every new Chapter and a new Story, we will update this page and provide you with an explanation of any new mission.
