Rap Artist Drake Co-Owner of 100 Thieves Esports Organization

Drake was famous for a lot of other things besides his Grammy awarded music career like being an ex of Jennifer Lopez and Rihanna or bestie with the star of the Stranger Things Millie Bobby Brown. But did you know he is a true gaming enthusiast?

Well, becoming a co-owner of 100 Thieves esports organization didn’t just happen accidentally for Drake, he actually likes to play games. A lot.

The rapper even popped up several times on popular streamer Tyler “Ninja” Blevins’ Twitch channel to play Fortnite. On one occasion he was joined by rapper Travis Scott and Pittsburgh Steelers player JuJu Smith-Schuster.

When it comes to 100 Thieves, Drake joined forces with Justin Bieber’s manager Scooter Braun and they both entered into business partnership other than music. Brand 100 Thieves is a Los Angeles-based company which involves apparel, lifestyle and esports.

Founded in 2016 by Matthew Haag was known as Nadeshot world champion in the Call of Duty, the company slowly started to pile up investments. In 2017, Cleveland Cavaliers and Quicken Loans owner Dan Gilbert invested millions in the brand. Additionally, 100 Thieves’ teams compete in Call of Duty, Fortnite, League of Legends and Clash Royale.

100 Thieves collaborated with Drake before on his Scorpion tour and now will work on apparel line with him. Both Scooter and Drake are on the board of directors and will serve as strategic advisors.

However, this isn’t the first time a celebrity invested in the gaming industry one way or the other. Former basketball player Shaquille O’Neal invested in Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn which is out this year and is a remastered reboot of 1994 game by Electronic Arts. And even the whole team invested in esports like New York Yankees hoping to earn something from the billion-dollar industry.

Just last week, Jian “Uzi” Zihao, Chinas League of Legend star was named esports ambassador by Nike, a first one ever for the brand. This means that it’s only a matter of days when other brands will do the same. And with teams competing in very popular games, 100 Thieves is one of the most promising brands on the esports scene currently.
