After millions of copies of Red Dead Redemption 2 sold worldwide, as well as global praise, the game will finally get its multiplayer mode. And since this is quite an ambitious open world game, it would be a shame that such a popular and impressive game stays too long without an online version. The latest big news was the leak about possible PC version coming in the near future which would add quite the revenue to already enormous one for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 game.
The first sign that Red Dead Online is coming our way soon is a lot of DLC which is free. This is something Rockstar Games, developers of highly successful Grand Theft Auto Online, have been working on for a while now. The much about the hyped mode is planned to use the single-player mode for online gameplay and considering what game has offered so far this is very exciting news. The developer didn’t announce any specific date for Red Dead Online yet, but Strauss Zelnick from Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar Games’ parent company, has shared some light on this.
“It’s way too early to talk about Red Dead Redemption 2 Online, it hasn’t released yet,” said Zelnick. “It will launch in public beta towards the end of the month, and Rockstar will have a lot more to say about it. We’re not making any current predictions.”
Fans are of course worried if Red Dead Online Beta will arrive at the end of the month or the release will be pushed passed November. And rightfully so, we might add since the release of the original game was delayed several times before the official launch.
Now, the predictions say that beta may experience some problems in the beginning since a lot of players will jump right in to try it. If you have a copy of the Red Dead Redemption 2 for PS4 or Xbox One you can play online. However, the trick is that the players will no matter require PS Plus or Xbox Live Gold subscription to be able to access the online mode.
So far, we know that Red Dead Online will be available to explore alone or with friends. It will be regularly updated and adjusted in order to offer the best gaming experience to players. The mode will be based on the single-player gameplay and players should expect to encounter narrative missions. Nonetheless, we still don’t know if the game will be set before or after the events of the original game. But since they plan to use the experience and best practices the applied on the GTA Online, then this multiplayer mode comes with great promises.
“Like the single-player game’s story of Arthur Morgan, we want people to settle into their online characters and feel like every activity makes sense for the character, the setting and the time. This should feel intimate and personal while still feeling fun and action-packed from moment to moment,” said Josh Needleman from Rockstar Games. “We’ve tried to take the best elements and best content packs from Grand Theft Auto Online and use them for templates for what we are making here. We feel Grand Theft Auto Online really only found its feet creatively with Heists.”
It seems that both Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive announce Red Dead Online as quite a gaming experience with high expectations. Let’s hope that this multiplayer mode will really come out by the end of November and that we will be able to attest this for ourselves.
