Welcome to our Star Trek Fleet Command Officers article. Here we’ll talk about Officer roles (Captain, Bridge Officer, Crew Officer), classes, groups and synergy bonus. Besides that, in Star Trek Fleet Command Officers can be improved by leveling and promotion, so we’ll also touch on that subject.
Choosing the right officers is one of the most important aspects of Star Trek Fleet Command as they’ll increase the overall performance of your ship. Each officer has several stats:
Besides that, every commander belongs to a certain class and group that are used to determine synergies of your Officers, but we will get back to it later – making your own team is one of the most interesting things that you can do in Star Trek Fleet Command game.
Every Officer can perform one of the three roles: Ship Captain, Bridge Officer, and Crew Officer.

Ship Captain is the middle one of top three Officers slot and your chosen Ship Captain will determine synergy group. Also, Captain is the only that can use Captain Maneuver ability. Just like the other two bridge Officers, he will also use his Officer Ability and his stats will be applied to the overall strength of the ship.
Bridge Officers can be assigned to the left and right Top Slots, so you can’t have more than two Bridge Officers at any given time. Their Officer Ability will be actively used and their attack, defense and health stats applied to the ships.
Crew Officers can be assigned to the bottom row – the number of open crew officer slots increases with the level of the ship. Crew Officers only contribute to overall ship strength with their attack, defense and health stats.
All Star Trek Fleet Command Officers belong to one class and one group – both of these are important for officer synergies.
Every officer belongs to one of the three classes:

The highest synergy can be achieved if all 3 of the commanding officers (Ship Captain and the two Bridge Officers) belong to a different class.

To view Officer Info (Class, Group and Faction) tap the I button below the Officer model.
All Star Trek Fleet Command Officers belong to a certain group: Another Time, Starfleet Academy, Surveyors & Miners, etc. In order to gain any synergy bonuses at least one bridge Officer has to belong to the same group as Ship Captain.
In Star Trek Fleet Command Bridge officers can provide synergy bonuses to their captain if they belong to the same group (as mentioned before). Synergy bonus can be a bit tricky to fully grasp, so I will try to explain it as best as I can.
Ship Captain (and only Captain) benefits from synergy bonus. He will gain the bonus to the Captain Maneuver ability that is equal to the total synergy bonuses (from both officers). Do note that Synergy bonus gets directly added to the Captain Maneuver ability (it’s not percentual increase). So, let’s say we have a Captain with maneuver ability that increases ship’s attack by 10%, and he has two officers, each providing a +5% synergy bonus. Than, total Captain Maneuver bonus would be +20% to ship’s attack (+10% base + 5% + 5% from both officers). You can achieve the highest synergy bonus if the Captain and his two bridge officers belong to the three different classes.
NOTE: The Synergy bonuses won’t be updated until you exit (and save changes) at the Assign Officer screen – to view changes re-enter Assign Officer screen. In other words, if you replace/remove bridge officers, the game will display changed synergy bonus (+3%, +6%,) but the Captain’s Maneuver Ability won’t be updated until you save new crew configuration.
Officers are also divided into four Tiers:
At the very beginning of the game, you will have only a few Common officers. Additional Officers can be gained by collecting Recruit cards. Besides picking an appropriate team it’s also extremely important to upgrade your officers by leveling up and promoting them.
Officer XP is used to Level Up and Promote officers. It can be gained in several ways:
Every time you level up an officer he/she will gain an increase in basic stats (attack, defense, and health). Maximum officer level is limited by their promotion level (Rank). Maximum officer level before the first promotion is 5 and every time you promote an officer his maximum level will be increased by 5.

As we already mentioned promoting an officer will increase his maximum level by 5 and will also increase the Officer ability bonus. Promoting Officers requires Officer cards that can be acquired in several ways:
Of course, Common officers have lower power rating and costs less Officer XP/Officer cards to Level Up/Promote.
We hope you enjoyed reading about Star Trek Fleet Command Officers. We have covered the most interesting aspects of the game, assembling a crew for your ship that is. We also talked about the topics that might be a bit confusing for some players, and those would be: synergies, Captain Maneuver, and Officer Ability.
