As any Lovecraftian horror game, the Sinking City has created quite a buzz. The game is largely inspired by the works of the famous horror author H.P. Lovecraft and is slated for release for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on March 21. However, rumor has it that the release date may be postponed to May 31.
The game takes place in Oakmont, a fictional city in Massachusets in the 1920s. Most of the town is sunk due to the havoc caused by Lovecraftian deities which means that there is a lot of tentacles lurking around. But even though strange amphibian people seem to walk around, the citizens of Oakmont try to go about their days as though everything is normal. The players will assume the role of a private investigator Charles W. Reed who is on the mission to find out what exactly happened in the city while at the same time trying to preserve his sanity.
This Frogwares’ action-adventure mystery horror game seems to have a new release date on Amazon. While it was widely announced as March release, Amazon US has listed May 31 for both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions. Steam has also changed the date to only 2019, and Frogwares also lists only 2019 without any new information about why the date was changed.
Now, it seems to be some kind of trend to delay the release of the games especially as the date closes by. In some cases, this is a good choice, especially if there is still some work to be done and developers don’t want to put a faulty product on the market. However, when it comes to some games, like Battlefield and Atlas, this has proven not to help with bugs in the games.
The game has some pretty neat things going on like a new weather system that will have Sunny, Stormy, Cloudy and Foggy days and nights. And based on the developer, the lightning will play an important role in telling a story. Basically, it seems that these features paired with Lovecraftian horror will truly bring shivers down the spine.
Frogwares is yet to confirm this delay, but this interesting title will hardly stay unnoticed and so we will hear more about the release and other details about the game.
