It’s never too late to play a good game, and that is exactly what happened with Tiny Heroes. Out in 2011, the game is still going strong continuously gaining new players all over the world. This arcade is available for free on Apple’s App Store with in-game purchases, while upon release it was $2.99.
Developer Simutronics Corp created an impressive tower defense game with Tiny Heroes, which is no surprise from someone who already had critically praised geoDefense and geoDefense Swarm. However, in this case, your tower is your treasure. You see the game is actually about guarding your treasure against looters by setting traps, conjuring spells, summoning minions and building towers. And the treasure is in the dungeon, so it’s okay to say this game looks like a quest from a role-playing game.
Another cool thing is how much this game reminded me of Plants vs Zombies. Basically, you plan your defenses for the upcoming level and hope you made the right choices. Also, just like suns in the PvZ, you have to create mana in order to boost your defenses and creatures, and here you do it with stones.
The further you go in the game, the more types of defenses you will unlock. In the end, you will end up with so many cool stuff that you’ll feel sorry for not being able to use them all in one level. This means only one thing – you need to strategize. Before every level, you will have to think very carefully which traps to use. This is not as easy as it sounds since you also need to calculate the resources to pull off what you planned.
However, have in mind that heroes will be able to counter your defenses. They may look cute, but they are more than capable to rip you off if you are not careful. Thieves will pull to bits your traps, knights destroy everything in their way, and wizards will steal your mana. It will take some time before you figure out the right combination to defeat them.
However, just like you will get new and better defenses at each level, so will the heroes get reinforcements. So be ready to counter all their efforts and to fail to do that before you get it right. Each level is unique and you will have to create a different strategy, which also means that you will not get bored playing.
Tiny Heroes is enjoyable to play and adorable to look at which only adds positive impressions for the gameplay. It is a challenging game but you can play it to relax or because you like to test your abilities. In both cases, you will have a great time and probably be back for more. The game may be seven years old, but it’s still trendy and offers a remarkable gaming experience.
