Here are our top 5 video games to play for Valentine’s Day, and on any other occasion with your significant other.
Fez is a beautiful and exciting indie puzzler-platform game, which features a combination of 2D and 3D environment. The game is in its own right, an homage to old school genres and games as it resurrected and reinvented the platform and puzzle genres, in a certain way. The game already has a cult following, as it was dubbed the underdog of the indie scene. Fez is designed by Phil Fish, the guy who founded Polytron and who is widely known to audiences from Indie Game: The Movie. The movie actually features the development of Fez.
The game doesn’t actually support co-op play, but it is absolutely nothing wrong with taking turns, like in the old days. It is a good opportunity to introduce your darling to the world of gaming and have fun on the way.
Dance Dance Revolution
You cannot have a loved one, not dance with him or her, and then hope that they will think that you are cool. Add your gaming addiction to it, and it is a recipe for disaster. Dance Dance Revolution is a good chance to spend quality time together with that special someone, but to make it an exciting, blood pumping night of dance and party.
Developed by Konami, this is obviously a music interactive game, where players stand on a dance platform and hit the arrows as they are colored according to the steps of the particular dance number. Okay, it may require a small investment to get the necessary gear, but there’s no price on happiness right?
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Mario Kart requires little explanation, as this game has entertained people co-opting it for almost 3 decades now. Now available on the switch as well, Mario Kart 8 deluxe switch can prove to be the best fun you’ve had yet with your partner, providing you both went for a switch. If your significant other doesn’t have it, perhaps it can make for a good Valentine’s Day present.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is easy to pick up, even if your chosen one never played video games. The controls are easy, the gameplay is simple enough. It is light and yet engaging, simple but insanely fun. You will definitely score some points for organizing a fun night at home with this one. If you do not have a girlfriend or a boyfriend, this game can also be a good ice breaker, for it supports up to 4 players in a co-op game. So, your friend, his girlfriend, her cute friend who doesn’t have a boyfriend (ideally) and you. Good luck and, trust us, let her win.
Super Mario Party
Super Mario Party is a relatively new way of looking at the 3D platformer genre, not for the gameplay particularly, but for the way, Nintendo mashed up all sorts of mods and gameplay variations in this one. All that aside, this game is a simple platform side scroller in its essence, but it offers endless variations and content, guaranteed to keep you both entertained for hours on end.
For instance, Super Mario Party features a board game mod, where all co-op participants run around on a board and compete against each other, gathering coins and doing objectives. It is important to note that this game is the new generation Nintendo hatchling, so the graphics are really flashy, cute, and beautiful, guaranteed to charm even the most conservative of ladies.
Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime
And, our top pick for tonight, tomorrow, and any other night you spend at home with your loved one are Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime. It is a 2-player Co-Op game, with the perfect setup. You both control a single vessel and embark on an adventure to save the world. Even the plot is ideal for Valentine’s Day – A bad guy begins to spread the ’Anti-love’ and only love can stop him.
You and your significant other will be tasked of handling the same ship, but your roles will be diverse. For instance, ship’s navigation and weapons are controlled separately, so you both can find areas you excel at or switch after a time. Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime switch is particularly beautiful, for switch controls and gameplay setup allows you both to just lie down and potato on the couch together, while you play this engaging and fun couple’s game. The visuals are great, the music is awesome, and the game itself carries a sort of a warm feeling to it. Highly recommended!
