The fire of a dragon, the wails of living beings. That is the scene of a Great War. This is the sentence that opens Stage 15 to you. After meeting with the Queen, you return to your room full of coincidence, mulling over her blessing and trying to decipher its meaning. But though you ponder it for half the day, you still fail to understand those arcane and mysterious words. You scratch your head in irritation.

But this blasted curse makes you feel no glory, only fear. You wonder what does ‘’Fate always grants living beings a choice’’ means. If you think back, there have been many times when you hesitated and decided. In other words, if you can make the right choices, you will achieve a ‘’Badge of Honor’’.

Thinking this, you look up excitedly and stare at the sunlight spilling through the leaves. If your curse is broken, it will be due to Reuel’s help. He said he would help you find a way. You need to go find him now. Spurred by this thought, you run out of the room without even pausing to fix your hair. You hitch up your skirt and hurry to the library, the cobblestone path echoing with your footsteps. Suddenly, you see a black figure flash by. You stop in your tracks and look around alertly.

Suddenly, a low voice sounds behind you. You are so frightened you leap away. When clutching your chest, you see who it is, you can’t suppress a great sigh of relief. It is Reuel. He looks at you with some confusion, but he doesn’t ask. Instead, he points to the book in his hand. Reuel says that he found a description of a curse in this old book. It matches very closely with yours. He was just about to find you.

You grasp Reuel’s hand excitedly and look at him in anticipation. Reuel is a little surprised, but he doesn’t shake off your hand. Reuel says that this curse originates from a dragon. According to him, dragons are a mysterious and powerful race. Their magic is very difficult to break. Other than the gods, the only living beings who can oppose dragons are those who can themselves use dragon magic.

Reuel shakes his head. You can feel it when he gives you a faint sigh. He says that ever since the end of the Great War, no one has been able to use dragon magic. And this announcement makes you stunned and incredulous. Your mind is utterly blank. Magic was not lost. It disappeared, says Reuel. The Great War affected a great many things. One could say it changed the world. He pauses. Reuel looks down at the old book in his hand. His expression turns earnest.

If you can locate the power the gods left in your world, you may be able to break this curse. You give a hopeless sigh, but thank Reuel for his help. He nods and prepares to leave. Just then, you see Salvia peering out from the woods not far away. She’s watching you warily.

You grab the hem of Reuel’s coat, trying desperately to hide the tremble in your voice. You ask Reuel to walk back with you. He is startled. He hesitates for a moment, then nods.

Following Reuel, you sneak a look into the woods. You see Salvia covering her arm, her golden eyes looking straight at you, like a hunter’s, and like she is on guard. Not daring to meet her gaze, you hurriedly look away. At that moment, an eerie whistle comes from the distance; for a moment you see a figure flash by. When you muster the courage to look again, there is no trace of Salvia. Soon after, Reuel returns to your living quarters. You thank him and enter your room.

The Cardinal Alexei ignores your surprise and walks towards you with a tight frown. He says that you came to East Viera with a responsibility to all humankind. You must bring back the Oracle and pray for good fortune for the people. The Cardinal Alexei nods, his expression serious as always. Although you are not the Holy Maiden chosen by the Church, you could not have come this far if it were not for the gods’ will.

Alexei says that you must fulfill those duties since you have come to East Viera as the Holy Maiden. During tomorrow’s Sacred Tree Ritual, you must listen carefully to the gods’ instructions, memorize every word, and then relay it back to Alexei as you heard it.

The Cardinal Alexei nods and turns to leave. After taking a few steps he suddenly stops and looks back at you with a serious expression. The most important thing is to remember not to ask the other elves the meaning of the Oracle.

You had no thought of inquiring about the Oracle, but the Cardinal’s deliberate emphasis makes you take notice. He says that you should not ask the other elves the meaning of the Oracle to satisfy your curiosity. It is disrespectful to the gods. You need to only memorize every word and relay them to Alexei. When you return to West Viera, you will tell everyone the meaning. The Cardinal Alexei looks a bit anxious, which in turn makes you suspicious.

Remember what the Queen said to the Cardinal, something occurs to you. Startled by your own bold thought, you look up at the Cardinal Alexei. Seeing the alarm on your face, the Cardinal frowns. He takes a step towards you, the look in his eyes menacing. Do you understand? Option 1 (I understand) or Option 2 (I can’t promise that).

I understand.
I can't promise that.

If you select Option 1 (I understand), you will say that you know your job. You understand what to do. Though you have any questions, while faced with the Cardinal, who looks like he might hurt you, you decide to play it safe. Hearing your agreement, the Cardinal’s face finally eases. He folds his hands before him and looks at you with a smile.

You put your head down and do your best to look obedient. The Cardinal pats you on the shoulder and then leaves. Though you are sighing with relief inside, you watch the Cardinal depart with your hands folded and a smile on your face. You are afraid he will suddenly turn back around and see your relieved expression. Suddenly, the Cardinal stops in his tracks. Your heart, which has slowed a bit, quickens again. Fortunately, the Cardinal does not turn around; he simply nods to someone outside and then strides away. It is only then you see Emilio standing there.

If you select Option 2 (I can’t promise that), you will say to Cardinal Alexei that you can’t promise that. His expression becomes more ferocious. You are a little afraid. But you promised Olga you would fulfill the Holy Maiden’s mission for her.

You may only remember those gibberish words for a short while. By the same time, you see him, you will most likely have forgotten them. You came to East Viera to deliver the word of the gods to humankind. If you accidentally deliver the wrong message, then surely the gods will not forgive you. When the Cardinal hears your explanation, his expression eases a little, but his frown is still tight. I an elf helps you translate the Oracle into the common tongue, then…

You are interrupted by the Cardinal; whose loud voice reveals his anxiety. He says that the Oracle is the will of the gods. It is lofty and cannot be heard by just anyone. You must memorize every word. Afterwards, he will find you as soon as possible. He adds that impersonating the Holy Maiden is an unforgivable crime. But if you can fulfill the duties of the station, then by the love of the gods, he will turn a blind eye.

So, his reasons for stopping you from understanding the Oracle are not so simple. When you say nothing, Alexei grows even more anxious. It feels like he could turn and attack you at any moment. If you don’t agree, he will throw you in jail, and then he could say that he was the one who heard the Oracle. Either way, he could say it means whatever he wants. It’d be better to agree for now and make a better plan later. Thinking this, you pretend helplessness and give a long sigh. When you look up again, your face is a mask of earnestness.

The Cardinal nods impatiently and leaves.

Emilio asks you about some suspicious figures in the garden. You saw the Dark Elf Salvia. She was hurt but you don’t know what is he talking about. Now you have another two options. Option 1 (I think I saw a strange figure in the woods today.) or Option 2 (I’ve not seen any suspicious figures.)

I think I saw a strange figure in the woods today. I have not seen any suspicious figures.

If you select Option 1 (I think I saw a strange figure in the woods today.), you will say that you saw a strange figure in the woods today.

Emilio and other elves have found some suspicious footprints, likely left by a Dark Elf.

He did fine but you should not worry. He and his crew will take care of it. They will strengthen the defense by your living quarters and make sure to keep you safe. You should keep an eye out for yourself, especially when night falls.

Emilio nods to you and departs. Once Emilio has disappeared, you release a breath you didn’t realize you’d been holding. After relaxing your tense nerves, exhaustion crashes over you like a wave. The tingling pain returns to your wrist. Looking down at the bright red mark, you think over what happened. The Queen, the High Priest, the Cardinal, Salvia… Their faces all blur together in your mind. You don’t know if you have made the right choices. And you don’t what the future has in store.

The low voice pulls you from your thoughts. You look outside, finding the sky has darkened without your noticing. Reuel stands outside, dressed all in white. He says that it is late. You should come with him for the baptism. You can’t forget about that. Change quickly, then go with the Reuel to the temple. You shouldn’t overdress for the baptism with Reuel, but you must be discreet at the same time. A Simple and Gentle outfit seems best for the occasion.

After changing, you follow the High Priest to the temple. The wavering candlelight makes the sacred spring appear even more mystical. Except for Reuel. He is still here. Paying no heed to your astonishment, Reuel walks to the spring’s edge, crosses himself, bows his head, and begins to chant. Words issue from of his mouth and echo in the empty temple, sounding profound and solemn.

You promised Olga that you would fulfill the Holy Maiden’s mission for her. You can’t back out now. You try desperately to convince yourself to step into that clear, sacred pool. But you can’t. You remain standing on the edge, dawdling, and squirming. Biting your lower lip, you look at Reuel. He has not moved, head still bowed reverently in prayer. You suddenly feel a jumble of emotions. You feel relieved, and at the same time, a touch of unhappiness. You step recklessly into the sacred spring, feeling the water rise to your waist. You soak through your light dress, which clings to your skin, outlining the curves of your body.

You scoop up a handful of water and pour it on your shoulder. The sacred water streaks down your arm drip back into the pool and makes a sound. You look over at Reuel, whose eyes are still closed, face still calm. Thinking this that you can’t imagine being so improved, you make bigger movements, trying to use sound and the humid air to disturb him. Suddenly, you feel slip. And you tip bodily backward. Just when you think you are about to fall; a warm hand catches you. Reuel still wears the same emotionless expression, but you catch a very faint hint of worry in his eyes. The corner of your mouth rises. You duck your head like you are hiding something and thank him.

Without waiting for your response, Reuel bows his head crosses himself once more, and resumes his soft chant. Seeming worried about your slipping again, he does not leave the sacred spring but instead stands with you. Warmth flows through you. You again take up some sacred spring water and complete the baptism reverently. I hope you have made the right choices.

Stage 15 is over. The moment that marked this stage is baptism. Don’t be surprised that stage 15 ended right here. That means something is happening in the next stage. Something worth your playing. Follow our walkthrough.
